vbetts
Wonders. Biggest one, file transfer time is improved greatly. Aero runs smoother. Media Center runs perfectly on 1600x1200 on my little X200. HD content runs great in Windows Media player now. macgirl
Got it to work. It don't work well together with darwin/bootmanagers, so i had to made vista bypass it and it updated.. finally Yeah, me too, I installed without some drivers, downloaded/installed 72 + 3 updates, then SP1, after booting good I installed the rest of the drivers. So I got Vista + SP1 (empty without programs, but since I really dont use it muchs, I will install partially as I need). Right now I have no comaprisn, until some more programs are installed. zarac
i downloaded and installed slipstreamed install version of vista x64 sp1 and it works nice (so far). i'm testing only 64bit 3d max, 'cause i use leopard for other software - it would really be nice to see max on osx. one little thingie: i downloaded 64bit version of firefox (3.0b5pre), but it installs in "Program Files (x86)" folder. How come? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94372-vista-service-pack-1-released/page/2/#findComment-678996 Share on other sites

Wayfarer247
SP1 worked fine on my HP Pavilion dv9000. However, I haven't noticed any real changes, it all seems the way it was before... >.< Oh well, saying I have Vista up to date is good enough for me. It may foil hackers for another 30 seconds. You can see from task manager that it is indeed a x64 app. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94372-vista-service-pack-1-released/page/2/#findComment-679080 Share on other sites
macgirl
But a x86 installer could install 64bit app or not? the installer just unpack files and move it to a certain place, doesn't it? Is the Mac OS X installer app a x86 or 64Bit app? because Chess is a 64Bit/X86 app. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/94372-vista-service-pack-1-released/page/2/#findComment-679214 Share on other sites
~pcwiz
zaraz, It asks you what path to install to, just set it to install to Program Files rather than Program Files (x86). Superhai
We still talk about vista. If it is a installer which is not specifically programmed for x64 windows it will copy the files to program files (x86) even if you choose only program files. It is a hook that ms have programmed in the os so all 32 bit installers will see program files as program files (x86). Apple instead have fat binaries so the x64 version is in the same binary as x86...
