nexenta
After weeks of frustrating moments with hack bool{censored} mac pc i decided to go back to old xp. Yah, security holes and {censored}.... c'mon at least it works.. and if you have problems just take out the network cable and u are secure... This sucks on pc.. any tipe of pc. First spend days to get and test the optimal iso for my system! After spend weeks to get a pice of {censored} video card to work.. Post a lot of questions on the forum with absolutelly no response.. Took time to stay on IRC .. bool{censored} no support there either. Tried to find a solution to the dual boot or even boot without installation disk inside but only "yuppe for me it works" i got for everyone AND no {censored}in tips at all! YES! OSX It is a beautifull OS but not on the PC. I just like u take a plain to drive on the streets with your gf. So.. sorry to say but i just wasted my time reading about OSx86 project. If you are a normal guy with a normal computer you normaly do something with this two an and your life not just "let's test some geekish stuff coz we are so retard and is so funny to see how the time is passing out". AND YES! I will buy a mac for my music.. not spend weeks tryng to have MAC OS "in two steeps with no hacking knowledge require" into my {censored}in machine.. Donw35
Your experience is a unique one, considering that most of my posts are reply's helping other get there hackintosh pc running. Not every PC configuration is going to work and there are issues that come up that no one can solve. OSX should be used as intended, see if you like the MAC OS, if you do and want to use it as your main stream OS then get a MAC.
hogfan
It is really cool that people have even made it possible for us to run Leopard on a PC. There is no "official" support for a Hacked up OS! Some much work has already been done here, that maybe one day Steve Jobs will put an end to his closed minded thinking and sell an Official release of MacOSX for the PC.........but then you wouldn't have to keep replacing your Mac every few years. PCs are easily upgradeable! If Apple was smart, they could steal the home user market back from MS with a PC version of Leopard. Vista is not doing well right now...........and Leopard owns it! nexenta
No! Is not about what OS u are using! Is not even far! IS about what are u doing with your OS. Imagine that you need to work something on time - a project. You put all the things down and start working and after a while frome some reason the system stops responding and you might need an restart. Now the computer knows ehat is better for you.. And you lose everithing including time. No thanks. If i will apporoch to the mac world i would do it as it suppose to be. I don't contest the hard work here. Yes it belongs to few and i don't blame them because of my lack of knowledge. But my friend I asked 1 month how in the world can i make my video card working and no one bother to answer me "hey, don't even try cause is not working at all".. Curious is that in 1 hour a got 3 responses and MY GOD this is something! Sincerly? I don't give a f**k if it is windows, debian, bsd, solaris or osx. I do care about my time and my work! If a system do his work and I even't know that is there THAT'S A GOOD S.O.!!! Infact I hate windows and maybe bcz i'm mcse and i know how windows works and sucks. Anyway thanks for support. For a bit i had the impresion that i'm quite alone here. Regards!

hecker
Maybe you should give Tiger a try. It's a lot more noobie friendly than Leopard is. Heck, that's what I'm still running on my PC and I'm still very satisfied with it. hecker

S.SubZero
lol ) my hackintosh works faster than windows, im sorry you couldn't manage to get osx up and running on your system How do you even compare the speed of the two OS's? I tried Rise of Nations for Mac, the only app I have for both platforms, and it's much slower than the PC version on the same hardware. I wasn't impressed at all. minnie
Hi Nexenta. Can I point out a few basics for you? I will anyway.... I noticed that you joined the forum on the 4th of March and you have written this on the 9th, Rome wasn't built in 4 days. When you undertake an OSx86 project, you are by default, experimenting. It is a hacked OS, and what's more, a hack of an extremely hardware dependant OS. The hack is due to effort, research and input from many 'testers' most having experienced some degree of frustration. However, many of us here have excellent builds, that's the game. You haven't listed your hardware in your signature, but I see you are using an AMD machine on an MSI board, from what I understand you are not using the 'easiest' hardware for OSx86 Leopard, you need to chill out, take your time. With certain hardware configurations it can be very difficult, some are much better than others, it takes time to figure that all out. If you can't be bothered doing that, go buy a mac and enjoy the benefits of hardware and software support from Apple. Have you checked that each component of your hardware works with OSx86 Leopard? It may be better with Tiger to begin with? I don't have any AMD stuff, maybe you should ask around? People are more than willing to help, just sometimes the answers take a long time coming. good luck

nexenta
Hello all, The problem is not the OS himself but the poor support for some hardware components as is my video card (geforce 8400gs). I got it work only using Punk92's 1.9 nvidia driver BUT still black screen at boot and it reloads if i boot with -f (i don't know what is doing that option exactly, maybe i'll receive some help from u). I use Leopard 10.5.2 by Efi which is the only working one on my sys till now. I also found a great solution to the boot / dual boot after leopard's install -- http://refit.sourceforge.net/ -- very easy and works on dual boot excelent with xp. Right now I have hardware acceleration on my sys with Punk92's drivers but still problems with this 8400 gs .. I wayt for the 2.0 release (link is broken or something..) Finally after weeks of searching i can install Logic 8 ... So far is good.. Well see in next hours.. PS. I have bad experiences with Tiger (my sys is AMD based) and i could'n find an iso for amd on net (i need at least 10.4.9 for Logic 8) BR.

nexenta
Hi heker, I checked the information around the 10.4.10 and does not comply with my video card (8400 gs is a pain in the ass..) I might consider taking a new card. Can you please help me to chose a good one? And not from 8xx series coz all have issues..!? yamcha
mines works brilliantly and yeah I had to give it many tries because I was completely new at it. If you got experience using Mac Terminal and such before then you won't have much problems, thats where I was actually stuck the most. Other then that I've got it working now perfectly no regrets, works really fast, all Mac games work at High of course. Parallels working, If I ever need to use XP to play a heavy game I just restart and boot into my XP drive . It depends on the hardware you have, but I'd think it should work with most motherboards for 775 Platform. Everyone encounters some sort of issues, I had trouble with Audio.. Installed kext manually worked perfectly, when I started out I had troubles with both audio, video, and lan.. Its a pain but searching is the best thing you can do, even then its difficult to find the answer, if thats the case make a post in the forums, and you'll get your answer eventually.. I can tell you my system runs/benches much faster then any Imac/Mac Book Pro , I've gotten the opportunity to use Imac in Futureshop many times it looks great, but lacks on the performance side, If I were you instead of buying a Mac, you can always invest your money into a system that works perfectly with Kalyway 10.5.2 , you'll save tons of money and you'll get a faster system... I use to work with debian and slack back then but times has changed and the requirements either. My scope in this is music and from my point of view mac os comply with my needs (logic). I have it run right now in front of me and is much much faster then a lot of so not only win stuff.. I quess as i said, i musct change my card with another one with a bigger supprt cause this one give me only problems.. Here's your advice is necessary. Monday I will make the exchange and i really hope it will be a better solution. I have installed now the 10.5.2 by EFI and excluding the dual boot problems (which is not my priority now) and of course graphic card, everithing else work excelent (sound, lan) So i'm really glad that i know that i'm not alone in this digital new world and maybe i could use some help!
