I am also having problems with my osx running. With the cd in it keeps rebooting but with out the cd it says boot.plist not found. Ive tried using leo4all and it says still waiting for root device.

Heres my specs

Compaq Sr2163wm

Pentium4 631 © HT 3.0 GHz

ATI Radeon Xpress 1100

160 GB SATA 3G (3.0 Gb/sec)

RC415ST-HM Motherboard and its made by ECS

Can anyone help me?

Strange. I have two Pentium 4 PC's running Leopard perfectly. They work with EFI, a non-vanilla kernel and SSE3 really well. I have the NX-bit enabled of course.

I dunno...Try playing around in BIOS, maybe if you disable onboard LAN, sound or USB.

I attached the cpu-z infor of my CPU and mobo. I have been fighting for the past week to get a stable OSX going. When I finally got Leopard installed it worked great for one night then my nic card bombed and I couldnt get it working. Then my sound died.

According to cpu-z I have SSE3 but its not 64bit. SSE3 the only thing I really need to worry about to get Leopard up and running? My other hardware is pretty simple and runs great under Tiger, just having a hell of a time getting Leopard going.

And yes disable bit is enabled in my bios I went through all those settings.

I've tried most all of the Leo releases on my 2.8ghz Northwood P4 (SSE2) / Intel 865PE motherboard with no luck. None of the DVDs even make it to the installer screen, they all just enter a cycle of rebooting. I finally gave up and went back to Tiger.

I have leopard 10.5.2 running 100% on my machine everything works perfect

my specs are pentium 4 HT 640 3.2ghz SSE3 64bit extensions

Ok I have leopard running but when I get to the new to mac screen and it asks me if I want to transfer old mac files it just loops back to the begining to where I select a language. I know theres a way to make a account with with commands but the search box always gives me errors. So can someone tell me what I need to do?

Is it at all posible to the do install on a laptop? I have a old dell c640 got vista to run on it. thrown in a wireless chip. upgraded th cpu from 1.6 to 2 ghz. upgraded the bios. also it has 2 gigs of ram. Any particular version out there i can use or it's not worth the time? I have some old PCs and Laptops i trying to bring back to life just for fun. My other laptop has fedora 8 and i barely got that to work properly (stoopid video driver.) any suggestion would cool.

@DJ McG

"Have you tried to do a 'vanilla' before the disk starts up?"

I'm going to see if I can't find my spare 20gig hd anywhere to install XP and run cpu-z on. Right now I've no crashes today. I've only booted it up once though and all I do is just leave it there with fans spinning nice and easy.

Every now and then it just freezes up though, but I'll try to get windows working later if possible.

Having the same problem as DJ McG: DVD boots up, after maybe about 5 seconds the computer would reboot automatically, thereby never getting into installer gui.

Using Leo4Allv2 (10.5.2) on my computer (P4 1.8GHz SSE2 w/D845PE chipset).

Currently running 10.4.11 and never really had any issues preventing me from installing any version since 10.4.1 until Leopard unfortunately.

Hmm, that's odd. If I were you I'd try safe mode '-x' then maybe run 'cpus=1'. Some people have said to have had success with some of those. Also try '-legacy'.

I honestly can't help much with that because I don't have the leo4all disk. I've got a P4 though.

I´ve been running Kalys Leo 10.5.1 for a while now on a P4 3 Ghz and all the troubles I had regarding getting it to work was to either buy a videocard that´s said to work or try to set the graphics apperture to the lowest value in the bios/setup.

Kalyway 10.5.1 ->10.5.2 (GUID+ EFI V8) can run in my P4 HT 3.2 without any problem. MB:Aopen AX4C MAX II :P (Intel i875p chips),

After patch audio (both analog and digital) works.

Video card: XFX Nvidia FX 6200(flash eVGA bios)

DVD RW drive: Plextor PX-750A (The drive take from an external PLextor PX-750UF)

250 MB seagate IDE HD

Also I have tried but it can't run with vanilla kernel. :(

I had this same error and put it on lowest stuff and highest values, but I had to go and get an Nvidia card in order for me to get my QE working. I now need a 1gig of RAM to finally complete my perfect setup.

  • 3 weeks later...

Yeah, I wish I just had a different processor. Pentium 4's are just not not worth it any more, I suppose. Although, it has been working for me with no flaws for about a month, but I've had about two or three freeze-ups in the past week and a half. Yet, nothing TOO dramatic. After those couple of ones it has worked fine.

I think I might start a thread for P4 PC's for osx86 so that if anyone has trouble with their Pentium 4 they can find help right there.

P.S. I think that what saved my computer for freezing up all the time was the Netkas kernel 9.2.0

  • 1 month later...

Well, here's my monthly report of making sure that my computer is still operative. The current status is 'Good'.

It works almost flawlessly. I develop on it, work on it, play on it, and everything else. My computer does freeze up at least once or twice a week though, usually more. All I have to do is just hold the power button, then it goes off...hold power button again, and back on again. Voila, it runs just fine for the rest of the day.

Anyways, that's really it.

Thanks for all your help, Darrious
