Ok so I installed zephiroth's 10.5.1 Leopard and I activated the partition to boot the hdd and at boot up I press F8 then -x, to boot in safe mode. Well I get to the 'Identify your keyboard' and I do that, Shift+z and Shift +/. and Then I get to the part that asks if I want to transfer files from another Mac I click the 'not at this time option'. and click continue well at that point it hangs and then restarts the whole process again. Is there anyway I can fix this?

What i ended up doing was installing tiger to an extra hard drive, then i copied the information from that fresh tiger install to my leopard hard drive when i got to the transferring information screen which had been holding me up previously.

i had the same problem. stuck in the exact same spot, and after about a minute or so it would just loop back and start the profile creation again. I ended up zeroing out the drive for about 10-15 minutes, re-formating quick after, and a new install and it has worked twice now, since i cooked the first install learning about kext files.

I have this exact same problem, but I don't know if I can do the same things. I can't install Tiger, because nothing has worked so far except Kalyway. So please tell me, is there any way i can get by this without another "Mac?" Perhaps having a legitament keyboard? I time machine back up on an External hard drive?

As of now i have Leopard installed as the Vanilla Kernel from Kalyway.

HI ALL

FOR ALL HAVE This issue (after the end of the choice, osx return on the video) wink_anim.gif

(commande are after ">" on each line, before you find a comment.

Start your pc and press F8, here ask to start in single user mode :

to do that, write >-s and press enter

Your osx start in console mode.

Here, start to check hard drive >/sbin/fsck -fy and press enter

Osx scan you pc and does to answer you : File system was modified.

After we does to mount all drives >/sbin/mount -uw / and press enter ; Dont forget the "/" it ask to mount all drives

Them, now we does to active and creat password for the root account >passwd root

The system ask for a new pass : enter it and confirm an other time when asking (press enter each time).

Now we does to do something to notify to osx that we have end the Setup. >touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone and press enter (Don't forget the "." before Apple).

And now you could restart >reboot and press enter

Now don't touch anything, osx boot and ask you to log in wink_anim.gif

Enter : log : root

and the pass you have choose before.

Just for Clarification, was this what you were referencing?

sweet the:

/sbin/mount -uw /

passwd root

put pass after typing command above

touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone

reboot

Worked but now I can only boot in safe mode. If I let it boot normally without booting in -x then it gets stuck at the Darwin......

How can I fix this?

Go to /System/Library/Extensions and delete GeForce.kext, Ge*.kext, and NV*.kext.

You should be able to boot normally but you might not have QE/CI or your native resolution.

In that case, get Zephyroth's Universal NVIDIA Installer of NVInject which has 8800 GTS.

I was about to do that when.... my hdd somehow died? it doesn't show up in any of my computers now, in the bios, it was my last good ide hdd haha :-( but oh well just have to get another one and try the same process over once again.

You should be able to boot normally but you might not have QE/CI or your native resolution.

What is QE and CI, and how do you know if it is enabled? I can't find what these acronyms stand for.

EDIT: found it: Quartz Extreme and Core Image.

What's the significance of these?
