You don't need to remove AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement anymore (may not even need to edit the script), just use IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext.

Where is IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext? I don't seem to see it referenced anywhere else -- So I should not remove that file, and just load IntelCPUPMDisabler.kext after reboot? In that case I just need that kext...

Another question.

I followed the instructions here to upgrade iatkos 2.0i to 10.5.3 (was planning to do 10.5.4 after)

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;#entry802081

but now I am getting "still waiting for root device" when I reboot after installing 10.5.3 via the method above. I changed the startup script as instructed. What did I do wrong? It looks like it's having some errors attempting to load my custom kexts (com.apple.driver.AppleAHCIPort is in yellow so this is likely the big problem) that I had previously installed. Do I have to somehow delete the kextcache? -s or -x also give me the root device error.

Any help would really be appreciated, I'm stuck!

It's on the BOOT-132 ISO, in the IMG.

Devilhood are you planning to do a Install guide using BOOT-132 ?

Maybe we could do a Dell already BOOT-132 guide

"Someone" already did an ISO for some Dells.

Good idea actually, I'll need to experiment more with it myself though.

i've made my own but it's not perfect actually. Applehda can't be load by bootloader (injector ok), nvinject, even with ioprobescore to 0 fails to activate QE (or i choose the wrong one!), shutdown restart dont work.

I'm waiting to see if they can to make Chameleon booting the Retail DVD from the HDD, then i will investigate deeply. :P

Just one thing: SMBIOSresolver required minimum 10.5.2 installation Disk.

However it did something for the X3100 users. In 10.5.3 my shutdown was broken. Now in 10.5.4 shudown works again. I just tested:

. restart : works (also worked in 10.5.3 for X3100 users)

. shutdwon : works (was broken in 10.5.3; at least on my M1330)

. sleep : works (incl. sound afterwards)

Let me rephrase that:

. shutdown only works if Audio is enabled (e.g. by sleep trick) and after I have played some sound

Maybe this way it also worked in 10.5.3 and I didn't notice, since I'm using restart most of the time (since I continue to work in other OS).

I'm pretty sure this will fix it (and make sleep trick for sound no longer necessary):

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...05077&st=0)

However I'm having some minor problems regarding executing a script at startup:

oh ok... so i will have to add more 100$ :(

thank you guys

$100 for a dell wireless card? You could get one for $15 on ebay (mentioned on macgirls first post) and the 1505 is around $40 on ebay last I saw, but you should only get the 1505 if you plan on using wireless N, which is not standard yet, at least for me.

Is anyone here using an M1530 or M1330 with 10.5.4? After a bunch of reinstalls today, I finally have 10.5.4 up and running fairly stable, however, none of the solutions (the ones with working links anyway) for 8400GS M graphics seems to be working -- Either rejected kext or black screen at startup. I know Macgirl listed some values but I must be putting them in the wrong place or kext as I haven't been able to get it working.

Once I get that working, I'll look at powermanagement and sleep, which also don't seem to be working.

Got AHCI back via an older 10.5.2 kext, as well as sound and wireless thru the same previous methods.

Sontone - I used your pack under 10.5.4 and had success with 1395 wireless and media keys/touchpad. 2 finger scroll seems to KIND OF work (though I think the readme said to disable it, so I'm confused, I still have it enabled in preference pane). Will play with that.

Sonotone's graphics for nvidia 8400 doesn't seem to work in 10.5.2 - 10.5.4 at all on my M1530. Also am not seeing the battery icon yet after installing powermanagement but perhaps there is another step.

My biggest interest now is if anyone on a M1530 or M1330 in 10.5.4 has their nvidia working and what method they used step by step.

The $100 he is refering ar for the Nvidia card instead of the Intel GMAX3100 card.

I have 10.5.4 working fine, but not all the kexts are from most recent version (which is 10.5.3), I revert from 10.5.2 these files to have better performance:

GeForce.kext

GeForce8xxxGLDriver.bundle

GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle

Keep in mind that on 10.5.3 and 10.5.4 NVinject needs the IOProbeScore, NVkush and Natit have it already, also using GFX String has no problems.

I did not use any step by step method, I test one by one with which kexts I have better performace, so I installed all 10.5.3 Nvidia kexts and then replaced those I listed above, since I had gfx strin already I did not need to use NVkush, Natiti, or NVinject.

I have 10.5.4 installed and my NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT is working with NVInstaller v5.2. This should fix problems with accelerated graphics after updating.

I read of some users installing NVInstaller v.41 so I went back to that one and it worked - However, I also this time selected 128MB and not the "Go" mobile version which is what I had been trying. It worked. I'll go ahead and try using v.52 without selecting the "Go" version and see if I have better luck. For whatever reason my M1530 really seems to hate the NVInjectGo kext.

Sidenote - Sleep seems better now, however, have any users noticed that the left mouse click tap on the touchpad stops working after waking from sleep? Any fix for that? I tend to do that more than actually left-click the hard button below the touchpad.

I was wondering if anyone could provide me with the gfx string for the 256mb 8600m gt 0x0407 on the Dell XPS M1530. I have been struggling to get this to work and the best luck I've had is geting the native res 1920x1200 but no QE and CI is listed as Software. I'm using Kalyway 10.5.2, vanilla kernal, PC_EFIv8. NVInjectGO works, but when I run the 10.5.4 update with the while sleep 1 thing in the terminal it hangs on the install and locks the system when in gets to the Install time: about a minute phase. Without NVinjectGO 10.5.4 update works fine but I lose QE/CI when I install it after the 10.5.4 update. I didn't know if the gfx string method would work better but a lot of people report better performance with this method. Any thoughts? A working gfx string would be very helpful.

I just used latest NVInstaller:

http://scottdangel.com/blog/?p=27

Selected 128MB card worked fine as far as I can tell so far..

Just some more info for the 10.5.4 users, Macgirl add to thread if you like.

Under 10.5.4, installing NVinstaller .52 on its own does not work with the 8400 GS M. I had to first install .41, then .52 on top. Also, NVinstaller did not like it when I picked any of the "go" versions. I used standard NVInject 128mb for my M1530 and 8400 GS M.

Finally, I did try and overwrite these 3 kexts from the .41 version once I installed the .52 version:

GeForce.kext

GeForce8xxxGLDriver.bundle

GeForceFXGLDriver.bundle

The second 2 took fine, but GeForce.kext threw an incompatibility error when I attempted to use the .41 version on top of .52.

One step closer to perfection, anyway -- Just wish I could get my Geekbench numbers higher, only around 2700 now but granted that is with a 3 GB machine and slightly slower processor.

The $100 he is refering ar for the Nvidia card instead of the Intel GMAX3100 card.

EFI GFX String doesn't fix anything for 8600M GT users; I still have to revert to the 10.5.2 Nvidia kext's or use NVkush/NVinject with an IOProbeScore of 0.

I wonder what could be the cause of this? maybe there is something important missing from the string that EFI Studio doesn't generate.

Anyone else notice their geekbench/xbench scores dropping significantly after resuming from sleep? My geekbench drops by half, and xbench loses about 40 pts. I figured this may be because one cores is workign after the resume, but activity monitor seems to show both working...

Figures, theres audio but half the performance.

Simple, just compare results before and after to see what has dropped, then you can pin-point what aspect of your machine is slowing down after sleep.

Help Pls....i just bought one M1530 with T8300, 4GB memory, 8600m GT 256MB,etc...

I've tried both iAtkos v2.0 and Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD installation...kalyway works better for me...iAtkos can't have nvinject installed properly...but the problem of them is the fan wont work with either of them...dont know why they will stop the fan of my laptop( i have chosen vanilla kernel for both of them)...

then i tried to install leopard to the hard disk of my laptop from my desktop by using original 10.5 leopard DVD with 10.5.4 combo updates and general post patches...everything works perfectly except video andd keyboard/trackpad....for video i will have to use nvkush to get it work...but losing restart and shutdown...I installed Components package from sonotone...but it doesn't make any differences...i've also tried different version of appleps2controller.kext by kext helper...it doesn't work...

any guys have solutions? Thanks in advance!

Use my attached copycat plist file and copy it into 'EFIStudio.app/Contents/Resources/graphiccards' then generate the GFX String.

It works perfectly with the 10.5.2 Nvidia kext's.

Anybody with iatkos successfully updated to 10.5.4? Im on 10.5.2. What would be the steps. I have full backups.

Hey there, this is what worked for me and my M1330. Install iAtkos v. 2.0i with default options, and select under "stock files" 9.2.2 vanilla kernel. Then I used sonotone's 0.31 installer and installed GFX - 8400, Sound - 9228, SMBIOS - MacBook Pro - These may be diff for your system. Battery meter should be working out of the box. I opened disk utility, repaired permissions. Then I downloaded the 10.5.3 Kalyway Update. It will consist of the 10.5.3 combo update and 10.5.3 kernels. Install the 10.5.3 combo update, BUT DONT REBOOT. Then Install the Kernels - select 9.3.0 Vanilla. Then open disk util and do repair permissions, close the installers and restart. When it boots, push F8 and type "update -v" The comp may restart a few times, then boot into 10.5.3, you shouldn't use "update -v" more than once, its a one time deal. Next open up sonotones 0.31 package, install GFX - 8400, Sound - 9228, SMBIOS - MacBook Pro, Batter Meter - Like I said, install to your specs, this is only for my M1330. After install, repair permissions, reboot. Now when you sleep the laptop and recover from sleep your audio should work, if it doesn't try deleting /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext, also delete /System/Library/Extensions/AppleAC97Audio/Contents/Plugins/AppleAzaliaAudio.kext After that, repair permissions, reboot. Should be running 10.5.3 great now. Go to System prefs > software update, select only 10.5.4 update. Let it do its thing automatically and mine updated without having to do anything. I am also running 9.4.0 vanilla kernel. Sorry I do Disk Util so many times, I just don't want to get kernel panics upon reboot, so I do it after any install now - which is probably unnecessary, but better safe than sorry. Lemme know if it works out for you!
