cgsheen
Specification AMD Athlon™ 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 4400+Instructions sets MMX (+), 3DNow! (+), SSE, SSE2, SSE3, x86-64 Mainboard Model NF4UK8AA Northbridge NVIDIA nForce4 rev. A3 Southbridge NVIDIA nForce4 MCP rev. A3 The nForce4's are well supported, but that's not even close to everything you need to consider. What's the LAN chipset? What video card are you using? Drives? SATA? PATA? Sound codec? Firewire? Keyboard and mouse? Do you have a seperate drive for the OSx86 install? Are you going to try to partition & install on an existing drive? etc etc etc Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82914-105-amd-best-installation/#findComment-588529 Share on other sites
helfire
Be sure to check out the known issues, would have saved me 2 hours if I knew about it earlier! http://osx86.wikidot.com/known-issues Good luck. My only problem was nforce4 Lan, but i have dual lan so i just used the 2nd one! Zeph also has Rev2 in the works, if you get suck maybe wait for it. bombuzal
If you run into problems with SATA on 10.5.1 AMD and have access to another MacOS box or VMWare installation try this thread Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82914-105-amd-best-installation/#findComment-588781 Share on other sites
paul_b
Thanks for the replies. I have the following hardware: drives:x2 SATA II and x1 PATA graphics:nvidia geforce 6500 network:wireless WPN311 sound chipset:ALC850 I currently have 10.4.8 installed(without the wireless working) but I want to install 10.5. Is it worth it? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82914-105-amd-best-installation/#findComment-589431 Share on other sites
bombuzal
It should run alright with the updated SATA drivers, if your NVIDIA gfx card is on-board you won't have full graphics support though... It may be worth waiting for the 2nd release of the Zeph's AMD ISO if you really want to upgrade Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/82914-105-amd-best-installation/#findComment-599284 Share on other sites
insomnimac
If you can easily get your hands on Zeph's AMD DVD then I'd suggest having a go with that and seeing how it installs etc itl give you some ideas on what you need to do to get leopard running properly on your system in later releases.
