I have a Biostar P4M900-M4... And I got the same problems...

 

Is your ECS MB he same as my Biostar MB?

 

I found a "how to fix" the VT8237A in here somewhere, written by a 14 year old girl, I tried to print the page and it crashed my IE.

 

And I did not have it bookmarked... Anyone know of a post like that anywhere? I'm going nuts searching for it, she had what looks like a way to get the device detected.

If you pop in your install disc and copy all the ATA kexts over, it might solve the problem.

 

I found this floating around somewhere:

cp -pr /Volumes/*DVD NAME*/System/Library/Extensions/*ATA* /Volumes/*HD NAME*/System/Library/Extensions/

where *DVD NAME* and *HD NAME* are the names of your install disc and mac hard drive.

then,

chown -R root:wheel /Volumes/*HD NAME*/System/Library/Extensions/
chmod -R 755 /Volumes/*HD NAME*/System/Library/Extensions/
rm -rf /Volumes/*HD NAME*/System/Library/Extensions.*
