Atomsk
I was wondering I bet it is possible to get the same multitouch gestures that are on the MacBook Air working on a regular MacBook and MacBook Pro. If I understand this right, since Apple's multitouch is not a "true multitouch" and it just senses the area of which the trackpad is being touched and goes off of that. Which is why the two finger scroll and right click work on current notebooks. Well I doubt the hardware on the MacBook air is any different other than being a bigger touch pad. This makes sense to me or it could just be the cold medicine from being sick all week.
Joey Papers
im thinking its not either. hopefully we can get an update with this feature. I see a trend in apple and the way the implement things into they products. Hell if ya look close you can see how the macbook air screen resembles the new imac screens with the black border. Slick! im waiting on that update tho....hopefully
CLiDE FTW!!1
I was just thinking the same today, actually. My MacBook has two finger scrolling, and therefore multi-touch, theoretically. I don't know how this translates to the real world of MacBooks...
i_am...me
I was just thinking the same today, actually. My MacBook has two finger scrolling, and therefore multi-touch, theoretically. I don't know how this translates to the real world of MacBooks... I was thinking the same too. I think its possible. It detects 3 fingers 4 and 5. So we would need and edited driver.. Atomsk
I guess we will have to wait untill the start shipping to get our hands on the new driver Unless anyone can get access to it?
Colonel
The MacBook Air has a new trackpad... it can sense more than 2 fingers, unlike the current MacBook and MacBook Pros. What you guys are doing is like.. "Hey, with a new driver, we can turn this Celeron D into a Xeon!"

JSn1™
It would be a possibility, like the 802.11n enabler... or maybe not...
munky
ooh naughty naughty colonel.. you really should do some research before branding an idea 'unreasonable'. linux drivers for the macbook and macbook pro can enable 3-finger clicking, hence the hardware is indeed capable of detecting >2 fingers. myself, im not sure pinch and rotate are doable, but the 3-finger swipe should be doable. (or some variant like 3 finger tap / 3 finger click). https://help.ubuntu.com/community/MacBook#h...13d7719accdf060
