I am getting ready to dig into my Dell system to make it MacHappy...but I want to find out what successes fellow Dell owners have found. The last time I tried this on this computer I fried my drive, but I don't think that had anything to do with OSX86, but it is enough to cause me concern...so anyway, here are my specs. Anyone who has had good luck wtih the iAKOS version would be greatly appreciated for the help!

Nope. Sleep doesn't work for me, and that stupid X1400 is cursed in OS X. ;)

Were you able to at least successfully install it? I am not too concerned about sleep, because it doesn't work in my HP Pavilion either. As long as I can get a display with the X1400, I am okay with it, because I was told that the Radeon Mobility 200 wouldnt work either and I found a workaround patch that made it to where I could at least change the resolution (even though CI/QE doesn't work), so I was going to try that to see if it would work with the X1400 to be able to change resolution, but if I have no display, it won't work at all. So, does your monitor work? Did it install at all?

Thanks for the help!

I've installed Kalyway Leopard on my friend's DELL E1505, however his laptop is different a bit from yours:

Intel Core Solo 1.86GHz

Intel VGA Card onboard

And his laptop works great with Leopard, except the sound needs a driver (we still don't know how to detect the ID of this sigmatel sound card, if you know, please help), and we haven't tried wireless network yet. QE/CI works great with his on-board VGA card.

So I think what you should do now is looking for a topic about you VGA card to see whether it needs drivers or not, and prepare the driver for your installation. Then, give it a try :P. I'm glad to share any of my exp, good luck :D

The sigmatel issue is pretty easily fixable. I'm gonna guess that you are using a sigmatel 9200 card since that's the most common one used in dell laptop models. If you still have Windows or another OS on there, take a look at the device details to verify.

If you do know that you use a Sigmatel 9200, heres the compatible HDAPatcher with the needed codec info for it to work; just drag the file onto the HDAPatcher program icon.

Hope this fixes your little audio issue.

Thank you very much for your reply. I'll check if my computer uses a Sigmatel 9200.

i have a dell e1505 with these specs:

ati x1400

intel 4965 agn wireless

seagate 100 gig 7200 rpm sata hard drive

all the other hardware is exactly the same as the 1st user.

i need to get the intel wireless wireless working, any answers? any drivers?

I have the x1400 also and I have not found any drivers that will work. I was however able to change the resolution to 1400*1050.

Does anyone know how to get the Dell 1390 drivers working. I installed from the newest Iatkos (ir2) but I also installed the packaged wireless drivres, I think this may be what is screwing it up. Does anyone know where you can get a driver for 1390, or maybe remove the drivers that the install disk installed?

animcreed:don't select any of the wireless options on the iatkos install. the airport extreme drivers will support your card (dell 1390) by default.

Unfortunately intel wireless is a little weak, and people are hacking away at them as we speak. i believe the ipw2200 and ipw2915 seems to be in workable order (tiger only), but definitely not the ipw4965, or the card i had, an ipw3945keep your eyes out for updated news on the driver status: http://code.google.com/p/iwidarwin/

I have an Inspiron 6400 (basically the same, but Intel graphics) but I haven't attempted the install yet due to the issues many users have with certain Dell laptops. I believe the 1505/6400 with the Core2Duo CPU suffers from the slowness/stuttering unless you disable one core with the CPUS=1 startup flag.

This is an issue with the BIOS and I don't believe it has been solved yet.

Here is a rather long thread on this series of laptops:

Hope this helps

by iatkos you are referring to the downloadable dvd image that uphuck and others worked on? you just need to burn it. the dvd image is set to boot. So other than you having issues selecting your dvd-rom to boot from, I can't really understand what you are asking help on. If you are still having issues with it, try and describe it in more detail.

I have QE/CI working on my X1400 in a e1705. Just had to edit the ATIRadeonX1000.kext info.plist with my IOPCIMatch. Now the other problem is I can't set the resolution to 1400x1050. Max it will go is 1152x864...how did you get 1400x1050?

Sarcoptic, I have e1705 with x1400 too. Kalyway 10.5.1. I used an old mobility.kext but can't seem to get QE/CI working. I have 17" screen with resolution set to 1400x1050. CI is software enabled, which is probably using my CPU.

Do you have dual cores working? I either have to use CPUS=1 or disable mutlicore in the bios.

Do you have a link to the kext you used? And you just added <string>0x71451002</string> after the other IOPCIMatch string?

To the original poster, have you had any success installing osx on your e1505. My laptop is almost exactly like yours. I found this good post: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...74&hl=ricoh

Working on a Dell e1505, Kalyway 10.5.1 works great.

Single core enabled in bios

954 Intel video - worked off the bat 1440 x 900

1390 wireless - worked off the bat

only thing is it will not auto logon at boot , actually have to click the network to join.

Sigmatel 92xx audio - works with installer above.

Internal wired lan - Not working and not needed

Internal card reader - Not working

Sleep - not working

Thanks for the drivers!!!

For those who have added the 0x71451002 id to the atiradeonx1000.kext, and it doesnt work for u, try coppying the kext to ur desktop, open it up, and do the changes with text editor, once done, save it. (u dont need to authorise this save) once u have edited the right way, copy it back to the extensions folder, replace the existing one, then authorise. it will give u some message saying u cant use that file, after a few secs, so use the disk utility to fix permissions on ur hard drive. it will take like 2mins, once done, restart ur mac, and done... thats what i have done, using the terminal and saving the changes, didnt work for me. try this. NOTE* this will only make ur card to be able to use QE, so it looks a bit better and transparent. thats it, no resolution support. still want to know how to make it work with 1280x800. changing boot.plist wont work at all. i have tried 1280x800x32 and with @50. doesnt do anything. DO NOT USE @60!!! ur system wont boot at all! i have uploaded my kext file, hope it works...
