papillon68
I searched through the forums but didn't find any info about this issue. IBM Lenovo Thinkpad X61s here, just installed iatkos successfully, selected my country, my keyboard and arrived to the "Do you already own a Mac?" screen. When I choose last option, "Do not transfer my information now", and click continue, after some seconds it shows the Leopard intro animation and goes back to the welcome screen, repeating the request again ... So ... I'm stuck and can't go any further, any idea why ? Selayan
I have got the same problem. When you choose something else it lets you continue but you need another mac or something to continue transfering the files. I still have not figured out a way to get past the reloop. papillon68
Can't choose other options because they fail (I have no other Mac to transfer id from, nor a time machine state etc.)...I tried to repair disk permissions, but didn't help. ray_uk
Wow, I had this issue just after 10.5 for the x86 came out, posted on several forums and tried the fixes listed in this thread but no luck. I even tried to import my user profile from my imac, which I put on a memory key and got the hackintosh to recognize but it would not import it. papillon68
ok I removed lan cable, I removed also the DVD. Problem is still there and I tried on other 2 computers, same issue.I will now try using harsh language LOLAny other suggestion ? Further investigation: is this happening because there are no ethernet cards recognized ?Can someone confirm or deny this ? Donw35
How about disabling the nic card completely and see what happens, on one of my machines I have to disable the nic to do the install, then boot and install patches. matchop
yeah, i had the same prob, i read in another forum topics they were suggesting that the next page would be network card setting page, which means you aughta have your nic driver. i have Via Compatable, thus i use ViaRhine. The way i put my kext was, boot using dvd, get terminal and copy the kext over to /Volumes/<your mac partition>/System/Library/Extensions note: i put my kext in windows partition first so that i can copy it over, win part is /Volumes/Untitled i believe you know what's ur method getting files to that stage good luck, as for me, i passed the loop Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77365-funny-problem-with-do-you-already-own-a-mac/#findComment-547924 Share on other sites
Selayan
I have no idea how to fix it. Im not sure how to do the procedure above..or where to get the kext from or where to place them on windows so that they must be read on Mac install terminal. There must be some other way to get past it. Selayan
Yeh the same think happened in iatkos when i chose net drivers. IF i dont choose them then it is fine. Kaly does not have any network drivers either but I guess you need to unplug the ethernet when you go through that setup. Or you can enter some code into single user mode that tells the computer apple setup is done and u can login as root. MacFrugal
I've finally gotten Kalyway 10.5.1 sort of partially installed. I have the cursed "blinking cursor", but if I leave the DVD in, it boots to the "Welcome - Do you own a Mac" screen - and then I'm stuck in that loop. I've seen the solution in post # 278 on this page: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...7069&st=260 which requires booting in single user mode - the problem is that my computer goes straight into the gray apple screen or the Darwin installation DVD. Any solutions on getting into "single user mode" to fix this? ---------- ThinkPad R61i Intel Core 2 Duo T5250 1.5GHz -Enhanced SpeedStep Technology Memory: 4GB Intel GMA X3100 DDR2 SDRAM Shared PCI Express Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG 54Mbps Wi-Fi IEEE 802.11a/b/g Mini PCI Express Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77365-funny-problem-with-do-you-already-own-a-mac/#findComment-573169 Share on other sites

cammj
Fix: 1. Run single user mode using the -s flag while booting 2. Mount the file system as mentioned when you boot 3. Change the root password using the command "passwd root" 4. Touch (create) the .AppleSetupDone file by typing "touch /var/db/.AppleSetupDone" This will make MacOS think that the wizard has already been completed. When you reboot you will be prompted with a username/password dialog box. Log in with the username "root" and the password previously specified.
