isotome
I also am patiently waiting for a "magical" one disk, unified install. I have had little succes with ANY osx86 install. Tiger nor leopard have worked for me and I have a purpose built 10.4. HCL specified system. I am noobish at this hackintosh stuff so it could be anything I am doing wrong. The day when I can simply install a fully functional hacked Leopard on my system will be a very hapy day fo sure. If that day ever comes. Guest Snowski
ZEPHYROTH's 32bit 10.5.1 RELEASE! People always forget about this one. It aint flawless but when you do the effort to fix some issues it runs rock stable. I have only one issue remaining but this is something I had with JAS 10.4.8 and Tubgirl 10.4.10 too. And if you don't want to do an effort to fix something how will you handle it when you ever come across an issue on your flawless install. Didn't you have to solve issues with Windows? drivers? registry? etc... The difference is with mac the issues actualy get solved and with win most of the time you're looking at a future reinstall (Vista is much better though) If not sure then try it on a cheap external USB drive. Kane Adams
I'm waiting too for it. I can see why Apple does not release the OS X for the PC after reading all the stories here of people installing tiger and now Leopard. BJMoose
Thanks BJDo you know of a detailed guide for those who want to try your method? Thanks in advance Sorry, I haven't looked at this thread for awhile. Here are the steps to installing the retail Leopard with all vanilla kexts on your system. It does presuppose that you have another disk with either Leopard or Tiger on it and that you understand how to add efi to your disk. Needs: 1. efi 8.0 2. a retail copy of Leopard 3. a bootable tiger/leopard disk How to do it: 1. Boot to OSX86 (in my case I used an external Tiger usb disk) 2. Partition the drive you want to install Leopard on (under options, choose GUID format) 3. Check disk utility for the id of your new Leopard volume (eg. disk1s2...you'll need this for later) 4. Install efi v8.0 the to disk (there are several good tutorials already out there to show how to do this) 5. Put your Leopard DVD in your DVD reader/writer 6. Volume should appear on your desktop (Mac OS X Install DVD) 7. Install Leopard ... here's how: a. Open terminal b. At the prompt type: cd /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/System/Installation/Packages (hit enter) c. Type: open osinstall.mpkg (hit enter) d. You will now see the familiar install window. Just follow the steps as you would on a normal install (this will be much faster than with a normal install though) 8. Once installed, you will want to set your partition as active. Here's how: a. Open terminal (make sure you know your disk id info) b. At the prompt, type the following: fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX (X from your disk id) (hit enter) update (hit enter) f Y (Y from the Y in your disk id...in my case it was 2) (hit enter_ w (hit enter and say 'yes' when prompted for reboot, but don't reboot yet) q (hit enter) reboot to Tiger disk 9. Add in dsmos.kext and (in my case) nvinject.kext 10. Repair permissions and you're done I know this presupposes you understand a few basic things about installing efi etc. But there's lots of easy stuff to find about that. Also, if you have a Bad Axe 2 board like I do, you may need to add efi 7.4 before adding 8.0. Good luck. Donnie D
I guess it all depends on your definition of waiting. Am i going to try it when it comes out? Yes. Do i already have a different version running? Yes. The only real reason i want iatkos is because i dont fully understand how to get pfi working on my own. However, after BJ's info, it may be worth learning how to do. rhalls
I am waiting. The process of getting Leo to work at the moemt is really fuzzy... And i will have to do this two times, running system and backup.... Maybe ill try in near future. I built a test-machine today for those purposes... I used ChaOSX 10.4.10, thats just insertion of cd, checking the patches i needed, install, ready... Thats fine. Hope, iAtkos will be similar. naddy69
There's no need to wait for IATKOS. It looks to me like it's not coming anyways. ToH is easy enough to install - in fact I had less problems than with uphuck 10.4.9. The only issue I had was that it wouldn't boot on the first (clean) install. So I re-installed JAS 10.4.6, then installed ToH on top of that WITHOUT erasing the drive. Works fine now. All of you folks "waiting for IATKOS" should be busy downloading ToH, just in case IATKOS never appears. 3vilution
I would have to agree.. even though i dont need it brazil works just fine, but they are taking a lot longer than what was told it was going to be released. beagio
i woldn't say that "IATKOS isn't comming", it will at some point, and't i'll be class when it does, but i found it quit easy to patch my own Leopard disc, and i'm use to having to install my own drivers for my hardware off the back of being a OSx86 Tiger user for the last six months Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75540-who-is-waiting-for-uphuck-iatkos/page/2/#findComment-537565 Share on other sites

Jason Ace
I hate uphuck for doing this tease. Yeah they asked for a release date, lets give emm one, uhhh how about that date, its only a week away! oh woops were not done yet, lets pick a new date, oh woops were not done yet, im gonna use my handheld to talk to you people! you know what I like uphuck releases, and I notice its 3 times faster than the JaS DVD in install... its why im only going to use iATKOS, plus I have to wait for my new quad core and 4 GB of ram. and before i thought it was a joke how it might come next year, its starting to become more and more real now.... i think it won't be released anytime this entire 2007 year... watch it be released on april fools day for all we know! plprado
I am. I installed ToH-RC2 and used it for a while. I really liked Leopard and its new features and was already getting used to it. But I was having to many issues like: usb and firewire devices (except for keyboard and mouse) would only be recognized if pluged in (or turn on) before boot. If I just inserted it after the system was up it simply wouldn´t get recognized. In tiger I had dual-monitor using Natit v0.2. If I use Natit in Leopard the system hangs at boot. My EPSON printer is not recognized either, in tiger it works. So I just went back to Tiger. Running 10.4.11 now and much happier since everything works perfectly. Need a better Leopard release. I guess is better to wait longer to have a fully working OS. that´s my experience with Leopard so far... steadybootleggin
yo i did the onetrack method for v52 / mbr partition and, i just did a mix of the ''I am..me''method ( for setting up the guid and installing pc_efi_v8 from a brazilmac dvd/flash drive ) and onetrack's guide ( easy to follow ,step-by-step terminal commands and such for removing/adding the various .kext involved ) . I did it the first time no problem, very easy and i've only done 1 other osx86 rig.... those 2 guides are stickies on the osx86-installation- leopard 10.5 forum http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=72493 http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=73952 ....when iatkos comes out , you can get it for another hd or hold on to it for when/if you reboot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/75540-who-is-waiting-for-uphuck-iatkos/page/2/#findComment-538454 Share on other sites
Ernest Defoe
You know I had tried and tried to get any version of OSX to install on my laptop to no avail so I just went out and bought a used iMac from a local Mac store.
