hi,

hangs on the part where it ask : "do you already own a mac?"

Everytime i choose not to transfer my data he puts me back to where i can choose my language. what can i do?

Gosh, You should scan whole tread! (just kidding) :(

The repeating setup screen, happens because there is problems with recognition of Your ethernet card.

You can try to get it working by installing right kexts for your ethernet card. But the most simple solution (which I highly recommend for newbies) is booting with

"Graphics Mode"="640x480x32" because the resolution is so small the setup screen will be skipped, and since then it won't show up every time you boot "Your" OS X (no matter of resolution). The only con is that You can't pick Your username, it would be "admin" by default. You can obviously change it later.

hi friends i´ve installed the leopard on my pc my mobo is a Asus M2N-E SLI with Nforce 500 so i don´t have lan driver and my video card is a Gforce 8400GS 256MB i need this two drivers kext for install in my leopard if anyone can help me please a glases you so much my email cybernet07@gmail.com .

Thanks...

if i read your post yesterday, i won't need to reinstall my Leopard:D

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdis0sX ./boot...(rdisOsX or rdiskOsX)...(O stands for letter or number)
It should read "rdisk" not "rdis0" and "0" is the hard disk number "X" is the partition number. So if you say, had one hard drive and installed OSX to the first partition you would type "rdisk0s1". Hard disk numbering starts at zero and partition numbering at one.
Please help me ! :) Ive tried toh rc2 disk and this. the install disc wont boot!it gets to acpi state s0 s1 s3 etc and then freezes.ive tried -legacy, cpus=1, -x .help!
I had this problem as well and what worked for me was pressing the power button momentarily. I have an HP laptop and I'm running Zephyroths Leo. Every time I boot I have to do this "trick".

Tried installing on a Xpress 200m chipset, got the "Still waiting on root device" error... I know the config is good; it installs 10.4.8 just fine. I read a few dozen pages back some kexts were missing, any way those could be pulled from my 10.4.8 disks and gently smashed into my 10.5.1 CD? I know I can rebuild the ISO, I just don't know if it'll have any adverse effects (And I'm running low on DVD-Rs! :thumbsup_anim:)

Just got this to work

First I installed the Kalyway 10.4.10 (with AMD ppf) and got "still waiting for root device"

I was frustrated, and installed this directly over the Kalyway install (no reformatting), and it booted up with no problem. All the Kalyway apps work too. Thanx a lot zeph!

Tanx...will try it in the afternoon...E

Puttabong:

I tryed these commands;

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX

update

f 1

w (y)

q

4 -> Then type:

cd /usr/standalone/i386

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisXsX ./boot (X is your partition)

5 ->

mount -uw /

mount -t hfs /dev/diskXsX /Volumes

6 ->

bless -device /dev/diskXsX -setBoot -verbose

7 -> reboot

...and I get stuck at this one---./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisXsX ./boot--- It says ./startupfiletool no such file or directory....any Idea?

Its the same on my home machine and at work(Intel 4 630(3Ghz,SSE 1-3),Acer F90m,1gb ddr,ati x300 se pci, 10gb deskstar IDE test drive...At work I used the Intel versions...Is It possible that Kalyway,Zaph's and Iatnos versions are not working on both machines? :)

any advice?I'd realy like to try this piece of software...tanx...Emir

I am sorry for stupid question but I cant find zaphyroth amd rev2 in torrents...how to get it ?
piratebay?

lol :(

Are you inside of the /usr/standalone/i386 dir? what does -ls tell you after changing the directory with cd /usr/standalone/i386?

I wrote yesterday that i have problem with the loop in the do you own a mac screen. Thanks to you people i have solved the problem. I booted into single user mode and gave thge root a password.

But i have still another problem. I searched the forum but can't find an answer. If i want to reboot with the dvd it says mach reboot. If i put the system down he says cpu halted. But he did not shut down. Some people in the forum says to replace the kernel. The cpu is a amd semprom 2800+ and ready for sse2/sse3. The another Problem is that i can only boot with -x. :D

Tried installing this version onto a new partition, installed fine until the end where it hangs on "1 min remaining", rebooted and installed exactly as before, it finished with a "could not make partition bootable", rebooted into leopard and it started anyway.

Crashed on bootup, started with -x, which brought me to the initial set up screens, which also hangs on "Do you already own a mac?".

So I gave up, installed tiger, and updated it with leopard. Install went smoothly, still had one min remaining error, but fixed it as before, rebooted, started with -x, but...

Once I log in, it displays the desktop/panel...then it disappears back to the login screen. Does that everytime you try and login again. So I deleted the GeForce kexts (caused the crash on bootup), rebooted without -x, and whenever it tries to load the desktop, it disappears, then tries to load again, and then disappears, in an endless loop.

Booted with all kinds of switches to the kernel. Alas, none would work. Any ideas?

I'm going to try again, this time Ill use the resolution change to bypass the "Do you already own a mac?" screen, as explained a couple of pages ago.

lol ;)

Are you inside of the /usr/standalone/i386 dir? what does -ls tell you after changing the directory with cd /usr/standalone/i386?

hei.

I am inside the i386, but when I write the (./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisk0s1 ./boot) command it fire's back with unreconised filesystem...I don't know what -Is but when I write it down it says unknown command :D

EDIT: I feel dumb :) ...help

-ls, not -Is

@emirmusic: these are the very basics, I don't mean to offend you, but installing Leopard will give you much harder issues to solve than that! ls stands for list directory, and will display the files inside of the current folder.

You'll want to ensure your in the /usr/standalone/i386 directory of the install disc, and not the volume you installed Leopard to. Look in the /Volumes directory and find the install disc volume name, should be Leopard-ToH-10.5.1 or something simular, change the directory to that and then cd to the /usr/standalone/i386 directory. startupfiletool should be in there. So..to recap, the file startupfiletool is in the /usr/standalone/i386 directory on the install disc...not your hard drive. Hope that helps.

...non taken:)...I already addmited that I'm a noob :) ...I think at least I will have better understanding of the problems that might accour once the system is installed...i'll try the -ls commandanyway I tryed throwing on Kalyway's AMD Tiger disc on the second drive and I get Kernel loadable modules in backtrace (with dependencies)com.apple.driver. AppleIntelCPUPowerMenagment(1.0.2) panicso I think my system realy doesn't like the OSX much :( I'll try the -ls command and report back, otherwise I'm hoping that the Zeph's Rev2will solve this mess...E

Ok guys...I messesd up at this command...

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdiskXsX ./boot <---was putting in rdisk0s1, should have rdisk1s1(x is partition)-there's only one drive

...SORRY...but i don't have permission to enter data cuz I get the

opendev(/dev/rdisk1s1): Permission denied.

PS: insted -lj I used only ls and I do get the folder content(I think I do)...

BootHelp.txt boot boot0 boot1h boot1u cdboot chain0 startupfiletool

...how do I get permissions?...I'll try brawsing the forum but That's a lot of searching:)...could someone please write down what I need to do...It's much faster :D ...YOU GUYS ARE LEGENDS ANYWAY...tanx...E

By unmounting the partition on which you want to install the bootloader !!!

umount -f /dev/disk1s1

hei Zephyroth...

so it sould be something like this...

fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX

update

f 1

w (y)

q

-----------------------

umount -f /dev/disk1s1

--------------------------

4 -> Then type:

cd /usr/standalone/i386

./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisXsX ./boot (X is your partition)

5 ->

mount -uw /

mount -t hfs /dev/diskXsX /Volumes

6 ->

bless -device /dev/diskXsX -setBoot -verbose

7 -> reboot

??? :P

Tanx for the relese anyway and sorry for being such a noob or whatever...It's hard for me cuz I got only one PC and have to reboot all the time and swap drives etc....E

EDIT...tryed again...umount -f /dev/disk1s1....disk0s1...disk1s2...disk1s3....it says not mounted currently ;) ....I tryed to write down the other diskXsX yust in case but no partition is currently mounted...tryed again ./startupfiletool -v /dev/rdisXsX and I still don't have permissions :)
