Nevadabob
Hi, trying to install Zephyroth's release on my rig: AMD 4000+ SSE3 A8N SLi Premium 2gb DDR Ram XFX 7600gt 1 x 80GB IDE HDD 2 x 200GB SATA HDD I have Tiger currently installed but wish to upgrade to Zepyroth's Leopard release. I burned the DVD and tried installing. However, when installing, once the progress bar gets very close to the end i.e. when the time remaining is estimated to "About a minute left". The installer freezes - I can still move my mouse but everything else seems dead, no HDD or DVD activity. Does anyone know what could be wrong for this sort of problem to arise? I tried rebooting just to see if it had installed, and it loads only to leave me with the message shown in the image below: Thanks for any help! Svein_Jarle
The screenshot below indicates that the GeForce.kext are causing problems. There are several guides out there on how to resolve this... GingerTea
@7eventh: I don't think that zeph is going to release it today, even though he said so. He's probably still testing. zephyroth
You will have to wait a little ... I cannot upload it tonight. Rev.2 will be on DVD-SL but ... space is a problem. At the moment I must remove all languages, AsianLanguagesSupport and X11 in order to burn it. But some stuff are missing as there is not enough space to place it on the ISO so the DVD is not good. I'm sorry to envisage release dates that are not respected but I'm too tired to keep working on it this night. Tomorrow morning I will remove Gutenprint, X11 and AsianLanguagesSupport and if there is enough space I will try to had German, Spanish and Italian languages. Don't hate me ! mac_cute
Hi everybody and thanks to Zephyroth again!. I have Leopard by Zephyroth and I agree with Gipo about the kext for nF5. I have it and what I can say is until now is that there is a few things to do... The sound by realtek ALC883 by taruga, work for me only in the line-out, no headphones: I have not tried the digital one. The device works but in "About this Mac" it says that there is no built-in audio. What is happening..It works but it does not appear?. All my USB works but only with mice and Keyboard: flash drive and modem are not detected. The network configuration freezes at ISP: I can get and IP by DHCP but that is all... If anyone help with any ideas, will be appreciated and I will be posting for helping others like my case Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/44/#findComment-557470 Share on other sites
Sea-Wolf
Hey all, I've been trying to do an install on my machine with the Zephyroth DVD on my machine following this guide: http://osx86.thefreesuite.com/leo_amd.php but I'm having some problems. I get as far as booting the installer, going into Disk Utility and trying to format the partition I've created, but it just won't seem to work. I set it up, hit Erase and the status bar appears with "Preparing to Erase" next to it and then sits there for about 30mins before bringing up the error "Volume Erase failed. Volume Erase failed with the error: The underlying task reported failure on exit." Any ideas? I've got a Gigabyte GA-M55plus-S3G motherboard and a WD drive connected to SATA. JoeTheWise
Good work Zephiroth, take your time. The first release was really a miracle for every AMD user so can't wait for the V2. I'm not using Leopard as my primary OS only because I have a 8800 GT (my 7900 GT that worked brilliant with Tiger died one month ago...) and no luck using 10.5.2 kext and the new OpenGL framework, so no CI e no QE, I hope V2 will work. My config: AMD 4200+ X2 ASUS A8N-SLI Geforce 8800 GT First HD 80GB PATA (with Leopard on it) Second HD 250GB Sata RAID 2x125GB (with Vista) Third HD 250GB external Firewire Everything works fine exepts 8800 GT and the freezes (but solid rock with cpus=1) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/44/#findComment-557714 Share on other sites
sweetsim
Hy zeph, please take your time you need. it's not important that u release today or tomorrow or later. Nameless One
I just hope that it boots using an SSE2 kernel rather than an SSE3 one, had to put my hard drives in someone else's computer for the install with v1 (the ability to install onto my SATA drive (NF4 based motherboard) would be a nice bonus) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/44/#findComment-558020 Share on other sites
ShadeZeRO
For the wiki, i'll start making an outline come tomorrow. We can just do a "fill in the blanks" and add on as we go. sergiales
I've added my NVIDIA devices to the wiki. I have a problem when booting. It takes about 30 secs extra and I don't know why. These are the debug lines: ... kernel[0]: CODE SIGNING: cs_invalid_page: p=90[mdworker] clearing CS_VALID ... kextd[10]: IOKitWaitQuiet() timed out waiting to write kernel symbols ... kextd[10]: writing kernel link data to /var/run/mach.sym Could someone explain what is "kernel symbols" or "kernel link data"?, what is this "mach.sym" used for? Thanks... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/73524-new-amd-dvd-for-leopard/page/44/#findComment-558057 Share on other sites
