zephyroth
The "-legacy" option didn't make any difference because this option is already in com.apple.Boot.plist so Leopard already boot with this option even if you don't type it at prompt. Have you tried to boot with "-x" ? "-f " ? Have you tried without any usb device connected ? schizo
What patch 10.5.1 ?Tried the AMD 10.5.1 that's been circulating. Also tried to replace the NV*.* Ge*.* kexts using instructions from Hexadecimal ( http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...&pid=522271 )BTW, booting -x works like a charm.. well except no network and no QE/CI. *update* Just tried booting using -f that I saw you recommended someone and then it worked. What does -f do? And do you consider it an option to add it to boot.plist?Or will I be lacking speed, functionality?? Hackintosh2
Thanks for taking care mate. Yeah, I tried all of them, nothing works. Seeing Leopard install without any problems made me so convinced that I'd manage to get it working, however, I'm not. If I'm not getting the USB Error, then I'll get some other error, like about my GeForce, that's what I experienced and what makes me just so depressed. The "-legacy" option didn't make any difference because this option is already in com.apple.Boot.plist so Leopard already boot with this option even if you don't type it at prompt. zephyroth
schizo You know the 10.5.1 patch already applies when you install this dvd ... the -f option ignore all kexts caches (Extensions.mkext, Extensions.kextcache) so it check all kexts under /System/Library/Extensions and load them according to your devices. the -x option boot your machine in safe mode. schizo
No I did not know that it already was 10.5.1. Nevertheless -f solved my problem and I guess I can live with having to reread all kexts. Thanx for a great DVD btw, best I've tried sofar alot of 10.4 included. Keep up the good work. Hackintosh2
@shizo: I wish you lots of fun with it, be lucky! As you can see, many of us (like me) can't get it working at all, and are falling into depressions ; ) Enjoy it! BlueAvenue
Hackintosh2 : If i were you and if you have not had a working install of Tiger on that computer, then i would try to install Uphuck's 10.4.9 v1.4a to see if that would work. arctic-k20
Ok - i think i have everything working now and I will try and help anybody that is having problems. I am dual-booting vista and leopard. I couldn't get leopard to boot at first and actually vista and leopard are on the same physical hard drive on separate partitions. After installing leopard - vista wouldnt boot either because the MBR was damaged. So to fix that I installed a program called Acronis boot manager. It has the option of burning a bootable cd that will install a boot manager for you and allow you to select which operating system to boot with. So after the boot issue was solved i was able to boot into vista and using macdrive i was able to remove any geforce kext / nvdaresman kext and patch them and put them back in so my graphics card would work. My biggest issue has been the random lockups once leopard loads in. It was 100% related to the forcedeth kext and I was never able to fix it. So i switched to my marvell network port and am now using itunes and downloading with NO lockups.!! I also have EFI-v8 installed Any questions just ask!! go0gies
hey whats up guys... first time installing os x on my pc and after a couple of days reading all the posts. i seem to have most of it working. Specs are AMD Athlon x2 3800+ Asus A8N-SLI Premium BFG GeForce 7800 GT QE/CI enabled 1 GB Ram Nforce SATA Nforce LAN Nforce Audio I have leopard installed on my 250gb sata disk. Most apps have been working fine for me. However after doing the software update, importing photos in iphoto or importing music in itunes causes it to crash. I am also having problems when i have both cores running. cpus=1 does the trick but it gives me a pretty bad performance hit when playing my hd mkv files on vlc. I saw that forcedeth-nockd might be a possible fix but Im not too sure how to go about installing it. Anyone have any suggestions? Big ups to zephyroth and the rest of the osx86 community for all their hard work. BTW, have you read this thread? the "mach reboot" problem has been discussed enough. Believe me, your problem has nothing to do with the line "BSD root...". moto211
i followed the steps from the post below to try and get my PNY 7600GS 512mb working. It worked...sort of. the os boots properly now without doing a safe boot. but, my card is recognized as a 256mb card and i can't change the resolution. btw, i'm running dual 17" CRT monitors. QE/CI is enabled, but i really want to get all of the video memory to show up and would like to be able to change my screen resolution. foodfightr, that's normal, most computers will have that panic at your first boot, try following these steps to see if you can fix the issue. Update: Fully Working! I will post steps here momentarily. This is what I did to get my system fully working with Natit for my 7300GT: Install from Zephyroth DVD. Reboot to install DVD, open terminal, follow these steps to make drive bootable fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX --->(X is the number of your HD, if you have only on its 0) update f X --->(X is the number of the partition where you installed Leopard) w q reboot Reboot to safe mode, use migration assistant to move ACCOUNT ONLY from working JaS 10.4.8 Tiger install on secondary hard drive, log in to safe mode, remove all GeForce*.kext and NV*.kext files. Reboot to normal mode, you will be in VESA Graphics options with no QE/CI but at least you're in the OS. Then, take all files from http://rapidshare.com/files/72992251/leo_vid_kexts.zip.html and copy to /System/Library/Extensions When it asks you to authenticate hit OKAY and put in your password. Then open the terminal, type sudo -s then your password and paste the following sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/GeForce.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDARESMAN.KEXT ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDARESMAN.KEXT sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV10Hal.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV10Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV20Hal.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV20Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV30Hal.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV30Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV40Hal.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV40Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV50Hal.kext sudo chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/Natit.kext ; sudo chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/Natit.kext then hit Enter. Type Reboot, Pray. These are all the steps I followed to get a fully working QE/CI Leopard AMD install. Once again, thank you Zephyroth! You are the man! stupdforumtroll
Finally got it working. Had to remove NV*kexts to bypass kernal panic. Luckily I recently bought another RF wireless keyboard, that just happened to be USB. I was using my old ps/2 one, wouldn't work. I'll figure out how to fix that just as soon as I figure out how to make it work online. I've never really used OSX, so I'm relying on you guys entirely. Thanks a bunch!!!!!
