Thanks for this thread, u guys really awesome. Helped me a lot!

But there is still one more problem, I cannot change the resolution of the on board video card, with Kalyway 10.5.2 leopard installed!

Is there anyone did it? Thanks in advance!

What happens when you specify your graphics resolution at the bootloader?

Where you normally enter startup-options (like: -v) you can type the following:

"Graphics Mode"="1600x1200x32"

You also need to put the quotes there.

PS. I am also still looking for drivers for the X3500. I now have my Geforce 8800GT plugged in there, but I want that card out of my HTPC.

Amazing after I typing the startup-options, it did work, I just tried the resolution of 1280x1024x32 for my 17'' LCD. But I found that it just change the resolution but still cannot open the CI/QE, I think it still need the right driver to support...

The x3500 is not going to be the best graphics card, but it is nice to be able to use what you payed for. I am sure it is fine for watching HD video, but gaming is another matter entirely. I am hopeful that there will be a driver for the x3500. Intel is due to come out with the next in this series (x4500) this year. I can't imagine that Apple will not eventually be supporting the x3500 and x4500 versions at some point soon.

I strongly agreed...

I also wish there was a solution for the X3500. By the way, as for graphics cards, is there a specific brand that I need to use? Or can I just pick anything? I'm considering a cheaper Nvidia 7x card.

Also, could someone give me instructions how to install the kext files? I'm really new at this.

P5E-VM HDMI

Q6600 Core 2 Quad

4GB RAM

Is anyone having troubles with certain applications crashing? :P

My system is nearly functioning at 100%. I used iATKOSv2.0i to install 10.5.2 using the vanilla 9.2.2 kernel.

As I understand it, currently there are no working kexts for the X3500 integrated video. So my system currently has no gfx acceleration or Quartz, could this be causing certain apps to 'quit unexpectedly'?

Specifically iWeb and Adium are unable to load. iWeb doesn't give the error but it is very sluggish and just hangs, I am unable to create a new site, or open an old one. Adium full out shuts down and gives the error above error.

If it isn't gfx related, could this be a kernel issue?

SPECs

Intel E7200

P5E-VM HDMI

Any help is appreciated.

I've been using an nvidia 6200LE PCIe on systems where I can't get the onboard video to work.

Cheap, fanless, and actually looks better and acts more stable than the 8400GS, 8600GT, and 8800GTS cards I have.

Currently using tweaked nvinject .41 installer kext's but have used Diabolik'S nvkush as well (without needing modifications).

Has nobody tried to get the x3100 drivers to work with this x3500?

I have one of these boards on order, should be here tomorrow if all goes well.

Bump

.....

I have Leopard working on my P5EVM-HDMI no hardware graphics of course.

Every time i play a video in VLC it will crash, is the due to the graphics problem?

I wish i knew how to help people with a new driver, but I'm new to the osx86 experience. Is there anyone working on a driver? or can they look @ the x3100 driver and start from there?

Thanks

So I got this board up and running due to the help and kexts in this thread, thanks!

I do have a problem with my USB ports - they seem flighty at best.

My iPhone is not detected at all - it doesn't even get power from the USB ports which is pretty odd - when plugged in it doesn't show up in System Profiler either.

When I plus in a flash drive the system detects it in system profiler but never mounts it to the desktop or otherwise unless I:

sudo kextload /System/Library/Extensions/IOUSBMassStorageClass.kext

In the terminal - so it seems it is pretty much a software problem. I tried the PCGenUSBEHCI.kext fix from http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...mp;hl=PCGenEHCI but that didn't change anything at all.

Any help would be great, thanks

k so i got the USB problem under control but I still have another issue. When coming out of sleep, my ethernet adapter acts as if there is no network cable connected. I've read it is pretty normal but have not been able to find the solution via search. Anyone remedy this problem?

That's great Skexix, I'm interested in finding out how you fixed the issues with USB. I have found that if I boot up with a USB flash drive plugged in, my wireless keyboard and mouse (which also use USB) Leopard will boot, however the keyboard and mouse do not work. It seems as though there is no power to the USB receiver as lights that are typically on (NUM LOCK, CAPSLOCK, etc.) do not respond. Take the flash drive out, reboot, all is good.

I also have noticed that my mouse and keyboard have a bit of a delay, they just aren't as accurate as in Vista.

If you had some steps to share I'd try them in hopes that my USB woes would be gone as well. :D

So guys, if I understand this thread correctly this is not a good "combo" board for OS X as it requires lot's of little tweeking..

Is that right?

if so too bad, it was in my shopping card at Outpost.com, humm, unless someone tell me otherwize I will look again for a better supported one as cheap.

I wouldn't say that Andre, it's a good board if you have a supported video card. The integrated gfx are not supported (Intel X3500), pretty much everything else works once you have installed the kexts Allsop has supplied in his original post. (haven't tested S/PDIF or Firewire)

The USB has a few quirks but this could have as much to do with BIOS settings as it could be a conflict with the hardware. I haven't put my finger on it quite yet.

For a strictly OSX stand point it may not rate too high, but I am running OS X, Vista and Linux (Mythbuntu) on it and the other OS's have little (linux - audio via HDMI) to no (windows) problems with it.

Its a great board for a HTPC and who knows, the X3500 chip may be supported in future. :P

I just picked up this board based on this thread, hopefully it'll last till the point where I'd want to use it for its HDMI

Actually I had a GA-965P-DS3 die on me, I swapped it with this board and the same (vanilla) installation booted up 100% fine... it's using 4 SATA drives and a 512MB evga card that I flashed the rom of

Thanks for the gigabit ethernet kext :help:

Do you mean that you have the OnBoard video to work fine qith full support for QE/CI ?

What about using Dual DVI monitors?

I just got myself the p5e-vm hdmi. (Before this I had a p5k-vm motherboard)

- I use the kalyway 10.5.2 disk.

- For sound i used the ALC 883 patch drivers from the kalyway 10.5.2.

- I don't use the onboard video, but instead a geforce 7200gs (works fine btw, and very cheap).

- Onboard lan is a problem. I tried one of the kext mentioned earlier, but that one didnt work to well for me. After os x resumes from sleep the adapter acts like there is no lan cable connected. Also I had some frequent crashes when using this kext, after removing the kext this problem was gone.

- For lan i use an el-cheapo networkcard with a realtek chip.

I am interested in buy this motherboard can anyone help me with my questions? The first thing i would like to ask is this this motherboard shutdowns and restarts properly? Has anyone installed 8GB ram and run it to Leopard? and at last can i install pc efi to this board? Thank you very much for your time!
