pcfreek14
Well i figured it out... Its my videocard (X1900) When i took out my video card leopard booted right up. I have no idea what is different about the ToH install and the Flat Image install that could have this effect on a video card running in VESA.... but whatever i guess. The videocard works just fine on the Flat image, so i guess that is my only option. Also... my NIC problem. I discovered that Windows was turning off my NIC card upon shutdown and OSX was unable to wake it up. So i enabled wake on lan after shutdown in windows and NIC activated without any modified kexts. ALSO... on the Flat image my IDE burner is supported, my ahci sata drives are seen as internal drives (no orange drive icons) and my CPU is detected at a core 2 duo NOT core 2 solo, unlike in ToH. Thank you so much SkyZ and Thysm00 for helping me personally! thysm00
I really think that you should try the -f at boot you can also enter it at boot when pressing f8. The kernel panic you get is very similar to the one i had. And for the "core2solo" thing, if you use the EFI patch (i think you really should try it) the problem is solved even if it doesn't change anything in terms of performances. It 's kernel related and the 10.5.1 kernel is working good Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71317-guide-gigabyte-ga-g33m-ds2r-with-leo/page/2/#findComment-512485 Share on other sites
pcfreek14
I may mess around with it again later. But since i have everything working properly on the flat image i'm gunna stick with it until i get EFI and everything working correctly. Since ToH takes like 30-40 minutes to install i think the 7 minute install is the obvious choice :-P Thank you tho. I really appreciate your help But answer me this... Is there any real advantage to using the ToH install vs the Flat image???? As far as i can tell the only downside to the Flat image is the 15 gig partition thing, but i've worked around that. nomi81
hi guys any luck with builtin VGA, I mean do it supports QE/CI? and if yes any links to that? thysm00
hi guys any luck with builtin VGA, I mean do it supports QE/CI? and if yes any links to that? I'm sorry it doesn't... I thought i would work as some people use the GMA X3100 on their laptop, but the GMA3100 seems to be really different from the GMAX3100 so there are no drivers at all and no QE-CI, the only thing you can do is add your resolution to the com.apple.boot.plist to get someting different from 1024X768. But i really suggest you to try a NVIDIA 7300 of any kind, they're fully supported and really more powerfull than the build in even the mac os effects are really smoother. They are also really cheap (less than 30 euros if you're in europe). TorqueX86
Been using this mobo for some time now, it is totally awesome, save for the fact that it will not resume properly from sleep. Strangley enough, this happens also in Vista, and I'm starting to think it is related to the Overclocked settings somehow. Can anyone shed some light on that? Please look at my signature for my configuratin. SkyZ
Done and it doesn't really feel a difference between MBR and GPT. Are you talking about the endless reboot at startup or theshutdown with the fans and hard drives not really stopping? Is it a fix inclueded in the nex pc-efi? SkyZ
Done and it doesn't really feel a difference between MBR and GPT. Anyway, follow this guide here, and oh, Netkas released a fix for the forever reboot: http://netkas.org/?page_id=35 Okay, here's a more detail guide for fresh install Leo with PC EFI v8: 1) There's one thing you need to prepare before begins, a working USB thumb drive with PC EFI package, modified AppleSMBIOS.kext, dsmos.kext, and vanilla mach kernel. 2) Follow Netkas guide to install PC EFI, right after that, DO NOT REBOOT. Now you've a ready to use, bootable GUID partition, go on to install Leo (I use ToH RC2 DVD). If all things go right, system will reboot itself, when you see your BIOS screen, boot into Leo installation DVD again, delete AppleSMBIOS.kext and mach kernel from your Leo drive, then copy the one from your USB thumb drive (dsmos.kext as well) and repair permissions. Reboot again but this time to Leo drive, if all things go right, viola~~~ Your system is ready to use (still need to load other kexts for sound, gfx... etc). thysm00
Hi all, have anybody using the same board noticed that the xbench scores are not ereally good? I just changed my CPU from a E4300 (xbench 106 @1.87ghz and 121 @2.16ghz) to a Q6600 and i get only 131? what's the matter? is this the board or are all the people showing their scores lying? SkyZ
Well..... Either xbench couldn't recognise 4 cores yet, or it just runs the benchmark on 32 bits. Remember, not all applications are optimised for multi-cores.... thysm00
Yes i know that but even with a E4300 i think the scores were kind of low, i've seen submitted xbench scores a lot higher than mine with the same processor and the disk test. Anyway idon't really care what xbench proves, i feel that my hackintosh is really fast now, logic can handle 2gigs of samples loaded in the ram and playing them while i surf the net! It now also looks awesome in his modified G5 case! I'm happy!!! Edit: i tried with an ide harddrive and my scores went up to 174, then with another brand new sata hard drive and i got 170... it sounds better Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71317-guide-gigabyte-ga-g33m-ds2r-with-leo/page/2/#findComment-536891 Share on other sites
SkyZ
Finally I got FireWire working on m system!!! The trick is, you'll need to make a custom wire from one of the 12V power outlet (yellow colour) to the FireWire port, and bingo!! the FireWire can recognise external HDD/DVD writer... etc. That is it, a 100% OSX Leo 10.5.1 with everything working~~~~ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/71317-guide-gigabyte-ga-g33m-ds2r-with-leo/page/2/#findComment-545605 Share on other sites
thysm00
Can you be more precise? Do we have to cut a molex connector? Where exactly do we have to connect this cable to? Directly on the motherboard? are you using the connector on the motherboard or the one on the back panel? thysm00
You should try the kalyway install dvd from the usuall torrets sites or also newsgroups, it includes everything, 10.5.1, shutdown/reboot patch, boot, and a lot of other things like kext for your graphic card you only will need the audio patch. It'll be a lot better than just copying a kext.
