rjtd
Hi there ppl. It seems that there are new drivers for NVIDIA, and they are fat binary. You can get them from here: Please, post your experiences a) card model CI or QE supported? c) possible to change resolutions? blinksilver
Oh silly Apple. And I had my hopes up. Now that MacVidia is not doing anything either we really are SOL for as long of a time as it take Apple/Nvidia to decide we are worthy of the drivers. Man, none of us is "worthy" for the drivers because Intel iMacs do not use nVidia boards. Why should I put a rocket booster on a car, because it will never use it (of course, there are exceptions, as we've seen on darwin awards ) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6972-new-nvidia-drivers/#findComment-43244 Share on other sites

cyrana
There really aren't any additions in the 10.4.4 drivers. I stand by my assumption that we won't see any until the towers come in Intel flavour, as only those will have a possibility of seeing nvidia. kwiksilver
will i get better performance outta my onboard video sharing 8mb of video. Or using the 128mb of the mx4000? It recognizes as 128mb in the graphics display options. I tried installing the macvidia kext, but there was no change bc there was no ID under mx4000. The real reason I am asking is for when I get my PCI-E 7800GTx back from RMA will i get better performance outta my onboard video sharing 8mb of video. Or using the 128mb of the mx4000? cyrana
Not sure either is fast, your onboard isn't really supported, either. None of them will be fast, nor will the 7800GT. melvin
What we need is the NVIDIADriver plug-in that is normally present in the AppleNDRV.kext. Since the NDRV* drivers present in 10.4.4 have definitely been updated (their version strings are newer than the recent 10.4.4 PPC update), Apple seems to have been compiling it all, but intentionally leaving out the last missing bundle.
