Pankirk
ok well nevermind, i got through the whole install but at the end when its like "restarting in 30 seconds" i wait for the 30 seconds and i guess it just stops and theres a little loading thing under it. so i just turned my pc off and went to boot into mac but it doesnt boot... should i reinstall again and wait for the spinning circle at the end to stop spinning before i get frustrated and just turn off my pc? Pankirk
Well the restart thing doesnt automatically restart my computer, so I just hold the off button and restart it, then while its restarting, I go to the boot menu and select my hard drive that I installes mac on, But it wont boot its just a little white blinking line... I reset again, this time I took the DVD out of the drive, and it still showed me the blinking thing... Should I wait and maybe it will boot up or should I try to install... again...? ~pcwiz
When it says Restarting in 30 seconds...Maybe you should have CLICKED THE RESTART BUTTON IN THE INSTALLER. Honestly...or was the Restart button missing? Pankirk
I CLICKED THE RESTART BUTTON. It says "click to restart" and it goes to start and restart and then at the bottom theres the little loading thing and then it just freezes. I left it like that for 5 hours and I came back and its still on the same screen and has not restarted. i_am...me
Ok, so boot into verbose mode? And what do I do while im in verbose mode Thats all the crazy text stuff. It will tell you whats giving you a problem. Either a kernel panic or what ever is making the computer freeze. Pankirk
But the only problem is at the end, when it tells me to "restart" I click on the restart button and it gets that little loading icon at the bottom and then everything just stops. So I just hold down the power button on my pc and let it boot up into the HD that I installed mac os on and it gives me a little blinking line. So I do it again but then take the DVD out while restarting and it does the same thing. ~pcwiz
Insert the Mac OS X Install DVD and boot from the HD which OS X is installed on. Before the OS even begins to load start tapping F8 on your keyboard. You get to a boot prompt. Use the arrow keys to select the HD OS X is installed on (don't select the DVD itself). Then type in: -v At the boot prompt and hit enter Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/68873-help-on-how-to-install-10410-please/page/2/#findComment-502839 Share on other sites
Pankirk
I did that and I reinstalled everything, then at the end when it asked me to restart I clicked "restart" and a black screen came up and said "MASH" (or something like that) and there were like 2 other words I don't remember. And I think it froze so I pressed the power button on my pc. ~pcwiz
No, you misunderstood me. Not to do a complete reinstall, but to boot the install that has already been installed to the HD in verbose mode. Use the same instructions AFTER installing and make sure to select your hard drive where OS X is installed when the Advanced OS X boot options menu comes up. Pankirk
Yea, I cant do that because when I go to boot from the HD that I installed on I get one of these "_" and the "_" just sits there and blinks. ~pcwiz
That comes when the BIOS can't find a device to boot from. Set your OS X drive/partition as active and then try booting. Thaddeus Smith
Yea, I cant do that because when I go to boot from the HD that I installed on I get one of these "_" and the "_" just sits there and blinks. That's probably because you need to change the partition map on your drive. Format in hfs, then change the partition map to MBR. ~pcwiz
You can't change the partition map in the JaS DVD. There is no MBR option. There is only a partition map option in the newer DVDs (Uphuck). Correct me if I am mistaken.
