composer
Over in the discuss forum, many in the iMac section complain about freezing. It is due to the GPU overheating - it goes in tandem with the poster regarding the growth of apple could me lower quality products in the 8.1% thread (growth). I too have experienced this when the MBP gets too hot, also, in the store, if a lot of programs are running, it freezes. Regarding the hack, if the system gets to hot it simply shuts down. Just thought you should know. Some other known problems: • iPhones suddenly don't work (not bricks but legit phones - • NANO's, sound from one ear only • iPhone, volume suddenly gets very low. A Nonny Moose
Apple has admitted there is a problem with the freezing and is working on it. Yami Bakura
what can they do if it`s hardware prob ?~R Could it be that the Santa Rosa platform is faulty in some way? The aluminum iMacs freezing, Santa Rosa MacBook Pros are hotter than previous generation, etc. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67443-imacs-and-mbp-and-hacks-freeze-or-shut-down/#findComment-479328 Share on other sites
Azurael
No problem with my Lenovo N200... Lots of other manufacturers' SR systems are problem free too, so I doubt the platform is to blame. Not a slant against Apple, but they've had more than their fair share of thermal problems - a few examples; MDD G4s quickly developed the nickname 'windtunnel', first-gen PB G4 12" ran nuclear-reactor hot and subsequent OS versions just run the fan all the time, MacBook mooing and temperature sensor cables melting, early MBP thermal compound applications. Maybe that particular design team needs sacking? Otherwise other Computer Manufacturers would be having issues. Cdnalsi
Even in gaming, when I crank my fans up to 6k RPM, I get 40 degrees Celsius. So no overheating for my GPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67443-imacs-and-mbp-and-hacks-freeze-or-shut-down/#findComment-483031 Share on other sites
