Wraith
This Update for Intel Base Macs killed your Sound Driver! Do not install this update! Mod edit: this information is incorrect. People have been getting mixed results with this update. It seems that AC'97 audio chipsets will be unaffected by this update. Taylor_C
I've had no problems. I'm not running on a Hackintosh, though. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/56044-audio-update-2007-001/#findComment-400635 Share on other sites
errandwolfe
Velociraptor, Just a suggestion when making posts like this.... 1.) Clarify you are talking about a hack not a Mac. 2.) If a specific piece of hardware (i.e. sound) is giving you problems, you should probably let people know what type of hardware is giving you the problem. For example, do you have a Sigmatel, RealTek, Azalia, or other sound system? I looked at your signature and it does not seem to specify it there. Wraith
I have a ALC888 ICH7 Sound. The update kills my Audio... I reinstall Azalia.pkg then my Sound works. YoMuS
I've installed it with my ALC882 and after reboot sound disappeared, then applied the Taruga 1.16 patch and sound came back. But if I open the Software Update, it pops me the Audio Update again... :/ any ideas? Sabr
1.) Clarify you are talking about a hack not a Mac. Moved to Post-Installation discussion to clarify discussion is about OSx86. sev7en
Before apply it, backup your Audio extension or just do a re-install of the working package. Did you try that? KasperNL
I've a onboard Sigmatel STAC9274D sound chip (Intel Bad-Axe 2 motherboard). When I installed this Audio Update 2007-001 I lost my Audio! After running the AppleHDA Patcher again my sound works again, but also the update appears again in Software update, So I'm not quite sure if this update -> patch construction includes some of the improvements of the audio update. errandwolfe
ALC883 here on my desktop. Installed the update and lost sound, reinstalled my original kext and I am back up and running. Only thing is the update shows again. Don't these update write receipt files so once your preform the update (even if you later replace the files) it won't prompt you again? marliwahoo
There may be a simple way to fix this. The audio update changes to the appleHDA.kext to a different version. 1.3xx is the new kext - the old version was 1.2xx. If you install the appleHDA fix after the update (either 1.5 or 1.6) it will change the apple HDA back to version 1.2xx -which will make your audio work. Sadly, you need 1.3xx to avoid software update wanting to update the kext again. I tried a couple of work arounds with the goal being a "modified" 1.3xx kext that was the same as the 1.2xx version except the name. I could not get it to work with out software update saying it needed to be updated again. Someone a little wiser than me could probably get this to work. The best fix would probably be a new HDA fixer ........ lets hope for version 1.7. kernalzero
has anyone opened up their AppleHDA.kext after doing the update and comparing it to the old one? we might be able to add a line or change something to trick it into thinking it's already been updated... I've got an ALC882 but just messed with reinstalling after a botched 10.4.10 update (which has been resolved) but don't really want to kill it again anytime soon. I tried replacing all of the components inside the new kext with the components of the old kext. So it was really the old kext with the new name. It didn't work. Software update still saw it as the old kext and wanted to update to the new kext. It may still work if someone (with a clue) tries it. I have to remove AppleHDA.kext for my sound (AD1988a) to work, but doing this, the update notice reappears, ¿do someone know how to fix or trick it?
