bxsci(macuser)
go for another cat - he/she will never be the same as sophie but you have more expiriance with cats and he/she would probably be most to your liking Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55985-what-kind-of-pet-should-i-get/page/2/#findComment-406167 Share on other sites
Justin R.
Cats are always a good choice. Sorry for your loss. My cat that I had since I was 2 died recently, so you might want to take a little while to get over your loss, but when you do, another cat would probably be your best choice. MacSimilian
I had a cat too, he died with 14 years and he was very fat and lazy. I liked him alot but we have another cat who is around the same age and he is great too. But I suggest u to have a look at a sloth. EDIT: I dont know if they re domesticated^^ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55985-what-kind-of-pet-should-i-get/page/2/#findComment-406479 Share on other sites
killbot1000
Definately cats...MUCH LOWER maintenance than a Dog or a...sloth... You can love them when you want to and you can neglect them when you want to...if you kinda just want them to go away for a few hours. This is my personal motto: Cats aren't very smart but they have excellent instincts (burying their own $hit, cleaning themselves) Dogs are very smart but have horrible instincts, if you don't keep track of them often they get disobedient, smelly, and gross....although if you know somebody else's dog, they are a lot of fun. Just my input Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55985-what-kind-of-pet-should-i-get/page/2/#findComment-411236 Share on other sites

tha_toadman
My wife grew up on a farm in her youth and recently was begging...and begging....and BEGGING ..for a little kitty. After 2 and a half years of marriage, I finally decided for her birthday last month (about this time), that I'd grant her that wish. We live in a town house and even had it built just 14 months ago (and it's my first home). I did some heavy thinking about a pet destroying the carpet, furniture, etc. but then thought, with a little TLC and some training, we'd be able to manage it. I couldn't be any happier. Just last night she thanked me for the "present" and said she "loved it". I personally had never owned a pet in my life but this was the best decision, I guess I could say, for the family. I totally agree with killbot... You can spend time with a cat when you want/need to, put it away when you want/need to, and yes, they are very instinctive! This kitty was only 6 weeks old (and small as could be) but the first day she came home, I was blown away! She went straight to the litter box!?! Man, was I happy! In almost 2 months time, the cat was free, yet 2 vet visits for fleas, eat mites, stomach worms...this little thing didn't start life out very well but we've nurtured her and I'm amazed at how cheap she is to take are of! 100 bucks for the 2 vet visits, probably 50 bucks on stuff like scratching post, litter, food, etc. You already own most of this stuff so you can see where I'm going with this. Cats are great, affectionate, and tidy. Dogs...I thought I really would like a dog but now after owning a cat first, I'm thinking that a dog is much more maintenance than I'd care to have. Prawker
Thanks guys, I think I'm almost ready to make up my mind. I'm leaning towards a kitten at the moment. I want a kitten because, well they're just so damn cute. And I will want it to be with me for a good long time. I really miss spending time with Sophie and just being able to see her and hug her when I want to, I think thats why I'm such a cat person, Sohpie was my first pet, and we grew up together, so why change suite, I want to be able to do that with another cat, i know thats what she would want me to do too. Cats are great pets, they don't ask for much, they love to receive attention just as much as I love to give it. And they keep you warm when they sleep on your lap. So I think i will get a tiny little kitteh soon Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/55985-what-kind-of-pet-should-i-get/page/2/#findComment-413165 Share on other sites
