royco
Try installing using a USB external dvd. It fixed the "still waiting" error, but was painfully slow during installation. I gave up on my compaq notebook.
Macshiba
I'm thinking it's because of your drive being SATA. Try installing 10.4.6 or 10.4.7 and see if that helps. You might be able to install JaS 10.4.6 and update to 10.4.8 using the update off The Green Demon. That's all I can think of. Or just buy a Mac
msll
Yes. It is caused by your SATA HD. Mac OS X can't recognize the ATI x200 sata controller. You have to install Mac OS X into an external HD or an IDE HD tempory and thereafter clone to your SATA HD. 1-11
Do you get through the install and then get the message? Can you see the drive in disk utility during the install?
