cyrana
People sure get pissy about stuff not working. We're lucky anything works, really. That being said, even if you have a device with the same vendor and device ID, it might not work. I don't know why, but perhaps there are still some small changes, or other interactions that cause this. But unless you have 100% the exact same motherboard and all, you can't expect yours to work even if you have the same chipset. Good luck, though. miranda363
Try updating the BIOS version. Possibly choose another installation method i'm using the Generic Patched DVD and everything is fine now though I had to create a second copy as the first didn't work properly Intel Celeron D Intel D915GVWB Also if the AppleIntel 830 kexts are present they seem to interfere with the sound I deleted them then everything was back to normal Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/480-realtek-alc880-sound-does-not-work-help/page/2/#findComment-22308 Share on other sites
miranda363
make sure the files called AppleIntel830 arent in /System/Library/Extensions as they seem to interfere with the audio functioning so remove them if theyre there and give it a shot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/480-realtek-alc880-sound-does-not-work-help/page/2/#findComment-22458 Share on other sites
XP1
Yes, the file was deleted when I first installed it. The sound worked well after I came back from Windows, but it doesn't work after you restart into Mac a second time.
