kidrobot
Hi Everyone, Got a Macbook and am loving it. First time Mac user and I am hooked. On to my problem: I am getting massive lag/lockups when I visit myspace. The initial page loads fine, but clicking on any link or trying to log in takes FOREVER and sometimes doesn't ever get to the point of doing anything. This happens on Camino, Firefox, and Safari. It only happens on this Macbook. Other computers in the house don't exhibit the same behavior, even the bootcamp installation on this Macbook works fine in XP on any browser. I can't figure out what the hell is going on. I have to quit the browser in the dock to get it working again. I can't even browse to another site once I have visited myspace due to the lag or lockup... the progress bar just keeps rolling forever. The network doesn't go down because I have tested streaming internet radio and that never drops out during this. Myspace is also the only page I notice this on. I have tried changing the encryption on the wireless network, no encryption... nothing works. My signal is showing full bars on the wireless icon. Any ideas? Suzuka
Myspace is a really bad site (that doesn't stop me) it's slow for me, by lag up, do you mean you cant use the browser at all, or the site just doesnt load Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44280-wierd-problem-with-macbook-myspace/#findComment-316825 Share on other sites
sp1200
It actually locks up my browser for me most times and I have to double click on the dock and quit/reload the browser to be able to go online and surf other sites. Even loading up another tab or different browser (safari etc) won't work as they are locked up until I quit the browser that was viewing myspace. I've seen this mentioned a few other times on other forums as well. Only happens on Macbook. errandwolfe
This has to do with the MASSIVE amount of flash garbage you get when you go to any Myspace page. While annoying, I have found it is less of a problem using Firefox rather the Safari. spartan015
yeah that's pretty common, u have plugin's installed and everything right? i know you need the newest quicktime, flash, and shockwave... that usually helps, and then have the ads blocked as they extend load time... in firefox the addon is called ad blocker i think Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44280-wierd-problem-with-macbook-myspace/#findComment-317119 Share on other sites
Suzuka
also, camino has a built in as blocker EDIT: I turned off the ad blocker, and myspace still works fine o_O Edited March 5, 2007 by Suzuka Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44280-wierd-problem-with-macbook-myspace/#findComment-317201 Share on other sites
sandmanfvrga
Myspace is the problem, NOT your macbook. The one and only time I had a lockup iwth my iBook was with Myspace. sp1200
I wasn't implying the Macbook was the problem, just noting it only happens on the Macbook. Just checked the shockwave site, it says it's not ported to run with the intel based Macs yet, and that you should launch your browser in Rosetta mode for now... this may be the culprit. Thanks for the ideas. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44280-wierd-problem-with-macbook-myspace/#findComment-317580 Share on other sites

nickg331
its ridiculous the amount of trash on myspace pages. its probably the shockwave player, but it could just be the tremendous amount of {censored} on every page Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44280-wierd-problem-with-macbook-myspace/#findComment-318183 Share on other sites
Silthrim
Get Firefox (although I have to admit I don't really like Firefox for Mac), and download the AdBlock Plus extension. wow222
Hey, I bought the case from www.macbook-case.com for my girlfriend. Here is the picture of it. We loved it! You gotta see it for yourself. No Doubt! I bought this to protection, but we got impressed by look. It looks plain if you compare it with other brand, but because of the simple design, it doesn't ruin the Apple design and looks fantastic!
