munky
So I have a MacBook Pro Core Duo 1.83Ghz, running 10.4.8. According to semthex (and others) the latest kernel from Apple is darwin 8.8.3. My machine reports its version as 8.8.1 (ie the same as the hackintosh kernel), and Software Update reports everything is up to date. Is the 8.8.3 kernel part of an update for Core 2 Duo machines or something? No biggie - just wondered how come mine isnt updating... Embio
I saw 8.8.3 on my mates C2D when I ran uname -a I'm running 8.9.1 so I feel oddly smug :-) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42133-kernel-883/#findComment-301133 Share on other sites

munky
the hunt is on for 8.8.3... so far we have a core duo macbook pro without it, and a core 2 duo imac without it. any other machines with / without? EDIT: I just noticed, my 10.4.8 build is 8L2127, and Embio's 10.4.9 build is 8P2127. any significance? asap18
Macbook no 8.8.3 core duo Embio's is that because thats what they call the build on 10.4.9 after you run the reversioner and stuff. Embio
haha yeah exactly. Bit off topic, but I installed Cheetah (won an eBay auction, was curious) onto my Powermac and in 'start up disk' it said my Server install was 10.4.9 - which I had been messing with but I hadnt thought I was successful. Perhaps it just changed an ID file... Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42133-kernel-883/#findComment-301335 Share on other sites

erbic
My C2D MacBook Pro has 8.8.2! I feel special. It's not 8.8.1 or 8.8.3. EDIT: Screenshot. Fear my reversed Terminal colors. Meh, my name is in that pic. Whatever. I trust people on this forum not to stalk me.
