cheezyp00
well, got the AMD64 2800+ chip with this ECS k8m800-m2, installation went fine.. but it just wont boot up. This problem happened on an p4 system as well. got some message saying mDNSResponder: Adding brose domain local <-- thats where it just hangs localhost mDNSResponder: Couldn't read user-specified local hostname; using default ... etc some netinfod.. cannot lookup child and you get the message about the browse domain local and it just hangs there. This is right after a fresh install of the jas 10.4.8 sse2/sse3 amd/intel Any fix for this? or can someone show me how to remove or disable the nDNSResponder? ps. if anyone know what this problem could be? btw, On the install, i just installed the amd sse2/sse3 package and the system package, that was it. Tried with the p4 system installling the intel etc and hangs there as well. Raod
I encounter a similar problem on other hardware configuration and I only need to unplug an USB wireless card that I have every time I boot the system and plug it when it's booted, then works fine. Check your wireless/usb devices and try to boot without it plugged from the start. Hope that helps. Flicker
Have the same problem... but I don't get the "adding browse domain local" until I unplug the ethernet cable I also tried 10.4.7 and it worked but then I found out that Natit Nvidia driver only works for 10.4.8 iso installation so I really want this to work EDIT: I have a P4 1,7Ghz HP Vectra VL420 MT and Nvidia Geforce Ti 4200 graphics card also tried without the Natit drivers without any luck Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/41534-post-installation-mdns-hang/#findComment-379133 Share on other sites

dumbstart
I'm guessing there is no right answer to this issue then? Today I installed 10.4.9 and everything was working great, until I tried to install NitIt - to change the resolution of my monitor, I restarted and now I'm not able to do anything but boot into a shell. Even then, my keyboard won't work so I can't do anything. I see that 3 other people are viewing this thread as I type this so it must be an issue that someone has solved. I tried fixing permissions, since I was unable to boot into safe mode I used the install disc and under Utilities I used Disk Management to fix permissions to no avail. Oh well, I'm reinstalling now and will test the NitIt install to see if that could be the culprit. Best of luck all.
