I am working to get the perfect install.

I have the patched Jas 10.4.8 and all is pretty much great.

I keep reading though that people are installing ( from advanced options on install ) 10.4.4 login window

Even with a 10.4.8 Intel Kernel etc.... this seems to be a popular install.

Is there something wrong with the standard 10.4.8 login window? Is there an advantage to the 10.4.4 Login window?

What dont I understand / Missing? I would love to know ASAP before the next install to start saving some time.

Thanks!

Gus

about this mac didnt run fine for me on 10.4.8. i have a athlon 3700+ and about this mac crashed the desktop when i opened it. my friend brought me a patch that he said was "hard to find on the internet" and fixed it. I probably shouldve found out what exactly it was, seeing as how since i managed to break my osx86 (different story) i cant access the file as of now...ill post what it was if i ever get it working again.

You can choose to have a login window or auto login. Go to account/user settings.

I am runnning the fully patched JaS 10.4.8 AMD/INTEL version with V1 Patch. I am running it on a P5DL2-VM/C with Core 2 Duo 6300.

I AM able to run "about this Mac" with no issues.
