After the restart , the system said :

 

System extension cannot be used.

 

The system extension " /System/Library/Extensions/

iwi2200.kext" was installed improperly and cannot

be used. Please try reinstaling it or .....

Please help ,

thank you ...

 

start terminal and write this:

 

cd /Libraray/System/Extensions/

sudo chown -R root:wheel iwi*

sudo chmod -R 755 iwi*

sudo reboot

Alright turns out the kext was probably not loading in the first place, when manually loaded I get:

 

[size="2"]sudo kextload -t iwi3945.kextkextload: extension iwi3945.kext appears to be valid
14darwin_iwi3945 is not compatible with its superclass, 17IO80211Controller superclass changed?
kextload: a link/load error occured for kernel extension iwi3945.kext
load failed for extension iwi3945.kext
(run kextload with -t for diagnostic output)[/size]

 

Still when rebooted no kernel panic obvoiusly

Im still seeing incorrect stuff in iwi3945x

In the .pkg there is a preinstall and a preupgrade

They have:

#!/bin/sh
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2200.kext
rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
rm -f /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

This is iwi3945.kext NOT iwi2200.kext

 

aaahhh - what a bug!

I had this problem too !!!

This is because of the latest versions of IO80211Family.kext and

framework ... You have to replace theese two with the ones of the

Apple combo update 10.4.7 ...

I just did and it worked !!!!

 

IT WORKED FOR ME TOO , AT LAST !!!!

Here is my story :

 

Its a Sony VAIO VGN FS-415-M

 

I made a fresh install with Jas 10.4.8 DVD after this , i patced :

1) Audio : azalia audio

2) NVidia : MacVidia

3) Ethernet : Intel Pro100VE , install a AppleIntel8255x.kext from 10.4.5

4) Touchpad : FFScroll

5) DVD burner : PatchBurn ( to make it burner from reader ) :thumbsdown_anim:

6) Wireless : Intel 2200BG with iwi2200-v6-test2-xkazu2 (you are the best , it was the hardest!!)

does anyone know how to get a broadcom netlink BCM5787M 1693 to work?????? (i think ive tried all the kexts from forums but nothing)

Last AirPort update from the Apple site installed.

This is what i used to get the Airport running. Now my question is: Is there a way to see what network I'm connected to? and Does the meter radar work? Thanks

I have been following this thread for quite a while and I must say you guys are amazing!!!

Like probably many others here I had given up hope and arranged myself with a USB Wifi Dongle.

But what you, the developers as well as the testers, have come up with is just out of this world!!

I installed the iwi2200-v6-test2-xkazu2.dmg without any problems.

My 2200 is detected as an airport and the airport functions seem to work.

Heres the thing: I connect to an unsecure network with a hidden SSID Network name.

 

When I click the airport icon and choose other, as soon as I enter the SSID Name I get the apple screen of death, telling me to restart my computer. :)

I would appreciate any help and or advice on which information you guys might need from me to find a solution to this issue.

well thats what the driver can do so far...

it can only attach to open networks and by itself, you can't select the network yourself, only the driver can...

don't forget that the driver is still a work in progress.

Hey jalavoui, tested all three v9s for iwi3945 and i was not able to get any debugging info / nothing interesting in system.log . Got kernel panics on all three BUT i am using 10.4.8.

 

using 10.4.8, disabled my en0 by doing a kextunload -v rtl.r1000.nic.ext

 

this driver is getting annoying....

Well, im not quite sure this would solve all our problems, it would maybe be worth a shot, but i think focus should stay on the current code. We are still stuck on the same problem since the beginning, which is the firmware loading / MAC address detection.

 

From the start we haven't been able to associate a valid MAC address to the device. Once this is successful, maybe the rest of the driver will work without a hitch... After all, the 3945 driver for linux is incredible. Power management is very good / very rarely have any problems / speed is also amazing...

i've managed to get 170M but after that the driver gives a kerne panic

ill start looking into the issue , but first, you wouldn't have any good / short tutorials on IOKIT by any chance? Or can you point me very quickly to a source where i can get a jump start on mac os x driver coding... Dont worry about it if its a hassle for you, but if its not, id like to minimize the amount of time wasted on gathering information...

 

PM me if you wish. Im beginning to feel at ease with xcode.

I am the same with you, freeze at 168MB.

Using 2915ABG and 10.4.8.

Oh! BTW, since I have no local mirror, what I got is only 200K/s.

at this point the code from iwi2200 is quite usefull to iwi2100 and iwi3945

 

so you don't really need to know a lot of iokit

 

you can help if you're good finding bugs in code

 

i'm using on iwi3945 code from iwlwifi and iwi3945

 

if you like to write new function try to use iwlwifi functions, but avoid using functions that don't exist in iwi3945. an example is this:

 

this is from iwlwifi. this code uses hw_setting wich doesn't exists in iwi3945, iwi2100 and iwi2200 - avoid using it - although the code is very simple it's not compatible with iwi3945, iwi2100 and iwi2200 code

}

 

if you can try to find why the start() function is crashing. this lines in the code:

 

resetDevice((UInt16 *)memBase); //iwi2200 code to fix

are the lines i tested in v9a, v9b and v9c

it will be much easier for you to test the code since you have the card
