Vecchio
Hi guys, I am a firmware/software engineer (embedded real-time stuff) and I own a gateway CX2724 which harbours the 3945ABG. I would like to help but I'm afraid I only have few knowledge about Mac and a bit more on Linux. I'd like to quickly get set-up and look at the code. A few questions: - What environment are you working in? Is it on the Mac OS x machine? Can we step debug? - Do I need to flash the firmware of the wireless adapter? If I download the latest dmg, will it do that? - Where do most of the exchange happen, here on the forum, at google code, or some IM? - Can I contact any other developper directly? Is it safe to display our e-mails or something here? Thanks! james2mart
To get started, you need to download Xcode 2.4 from apple's developer website. You'll need to create an account to download it. Don't display emails here not because it isnt safe, but its not safe to put emails on any website due to spamming robots. only send emails in private messages. Send jalavoui and patatester private messages asking them where to start; i'm just a tester Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/42/#findComment-318112 Share on other sites
FlipHDK
Hello Vecchio, hope you do start helping with iwi3945 - What environment are you working in? Is it on the Mac OS x machine? Can we step debug? You need xcode (around 980mb download from apple.com), and os x to complie it, but you could edit code and upload it here to be changed... - Do I need to flash the firmware of the wireless adapter? If I download the latest dmg, will it do that?.You just need to download the latest dmg, you will need a few files from os x 10.4.7 if you are using 10.4.8. You need Apple80211.framework and IO80211.kext from 10.4.7. I have uploaded them somewhere there is a link in the last page or two for those. - Where do most of the exchange happen, here on the forum, at google code, or some IM? Most of the exchange takes place on the forum, me and xkazu hang around on the irc channel. - Can I contact any other developper directly? Is it safe to display our e-mails or something here? You could use the build in PM function if you want to privately contact someone. Only them will be able to see the image, if you want there IM/email they may give it to you. fingerr
for the log you device is 0x10438086 - wich card is this? [---- cut ----] the build .dmg http://iwidarwin.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/...945/iwi3945.dmg Hi Jalavoui, at first thanks for great job you are doing !!! I think you are getting close make it working. With last iwi3945.dmg, finally I have no hang after reboot, but airport application shows "AirPort: Off", and when i click "Turn AirPort" On nothing happens (Maybe it's a similiar problem like in bluetooth? I have to enable BT under WinXP and then reboot to OSX to have it working) Here are logs from console: Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: darwin_iwi3945: Ethernet address 00:13:02:43:95:b4 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: dataLinkLayerAttachComplete Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: getSTATUS_DEV Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: ifnet_t en1 = 3703204 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: getPOWER 1252691, 1252868 16 343586728 3 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: getSSID <hidden> l:343586120 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: getCHANNEL c:0 f:0 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: getBSSID <hidden> Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: Intialize power Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: adjust power command flags Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: initialize rate scale window to 62 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: HW Revision ID = 0x2 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: ALM-MM type Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: SKU OP mode is basic Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: 3945ABG revision is 0xF1 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: Card M type B version is 0x2 Mar 7 10:42:45 localhost kernel[0]: iwi3945: HW & HW RF KILL supported in EEPROM. So you click airport, then other and enter the ssid of the network you wish to connect to. Jalavoui, xKazu, any news about iwi2200.kext downloading big file crash ?? regards Since ive been using iwi3945.kext I have left it running. Every now and then my pc will just freeze/lockup similar to the people who download 180mb on iwi2200. Might just be a coincidence. It's crashed a total of 4 times now. But it definately isn't doing it with 180mb I downloaded 5+gb and it still worked (it was a linux distro, im not breaking the law ). Getting very hot. Anyone else's os x freezing with 3945.kext? WaldMeister
Well, I knew that my os x freezing was a network error. I have the 3945kext installed, but can't use it because of a switch to turn the card on/off. But when i'm downloading large files through ethernet, it freezes almost every 20 min. Now i don't know if this comes from the kext, but i thought i should mention it. FlipHDK
Of course it is, first we need to fix the problem with it freezing after 18xmb download's. Im going to grab the latest src and look into that problem Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/36976-intel-wireless-driver/page/42/#findComment-318537 Share on other sites

FlipHDK
If we are using the drivers from there ( that I thought we were ) First, you build and install the d80211 subsystem. See: http://intellinuxwireless.org/d80211 We don't have this d80211 subsytem, wouldn't we need that? #include <net/mac80211.h> That was found in iwlwifi.h from the drivers from there. http://intellinuxwireless.org/?p=mac80211 That is another version of this subsystem.
