it's been a long long time since osx86 was in my laptop and now it is on again, all thanks to you...

here is the info from my laptop:

IBM T42, Intel 2200BG, fresh install of OSX 10.4.7 from jas cd.

changed in the info.plist file the power value to 0.

running on an always on wifi (disabled intel's software which enables/disables the card)

the wifi led is off, but i have an ip address and everything is working.

i'm using version 6-debug (regular version doesn't work)

thanks !

Same situation here. iwi2200 on jas osx 10.4.8 with io80211 and Apple802 framwork and kext from 10.4.7 combo update. With a 2915abg card.

Debug version works.

plain v6 doesnt work.

Speed is limited. In windows speed can get up to 500kb/s, in Mac OS its capped around 70kb/s. I tought it might be because of the debuging info but the not debuggin driver doesnt work... The rest is ok, no disconnections or anything. I get the airport icon but the card is not detected as an airport but as an integrated ethernet.

quick question, is there a way to specify the name of the network if its not being broadcasted?

Waiting for a version 7 without debuging info and WAP :P:gun:

Lots of thanks guys.

VGN-T160P running 10.4.8 worked with iwi2200 v.6 debug - no changes necessary (other than the proper permissions). It doesn't like to start if the wireless is switched on before the OS launches. Airport icon is shown, but no signal (even though I am able to surf). Now if I could just get the trackpad working on this unit...

Thanks for all the hard work!

Here are my final log's

Kernel: 10.4.8

IO80211Family.kext and Apple80211.framework from my JaS 10.4.7 Combo Update

Driver: iwi3945v3

The airport reconises the card, It won't find any networks or connect to my netwrk

It isn't selecting the mac address correctly:

darwin_iwi3945: Ethernet address 00:00:00:00:00:00

kazu, maybe we should make a p_debug parameter to allow debuging setting in the info.plist?

Wireless button? That's the button to turn it on/off? FN + F2 on dell's?

Wireless was allready on, when i disable it / turn it back on nothing happends. except my bluetooth goes on/off. It won't allow me to turn my AirPort off eigher.

EDIT:

I turned it off, when I turned it back on this is what is in the system.log

i've build a packager installer for iwi2100 and iwi3945

future release of all drivers should be made with the mac os installer (inside the .dmg)

don't forget to get the correct io80211 family framework (10.45 to 10.4.7) or 10.4.8 from apple

i've seem logs from iwi2100 and iwi3945 that goes to the "press wireles button" only

this cards do have a "wireles button"? (like the iwi2200 - wich is also the led)

can someone post a picture of the iwi2100 , iwi220 and iwi3945 cards ?

thanks

in iwi2200 you activate the card by pressing the led button (on/off)

you use the keyboard to turn it on??

try do disable the blutooth controller (move the extension)

boot to windows and activate the network - the reboot to mac os x (try -s on the bot menu, then type /etc/rc if it crashes)

the normal card beaviour is to keep the (on/off) status after reboot. in iwi2200 if i reboot with the card on it remains on (unless i set p_disable=1)

I tried to install the iw3945 driver, I downloaded the framework and IO80211Family.kext from 10.4.7 update. But when I reboot in osx the card isn't recognized. If i try to load the kext manually it gives me an error: kextload: cannot resolve dependencies for kernel extension iwi3945.kext/

What should I do?

i have a iwi2200 card

as you can see in picture it as 2 buttons

the right (led on) turns the interface on/off -> this is what i call the "wireless button"

the left is for bluetooth

i need to know if this is true for other cards iwi2100, iwi3945

I have 2100 also:

My story:

- IO80211Family.kext and Apple80211.framework from 10.4.7 Combo Update are - ok

- iwi2100.kext loaded:

tamas-tamas-computer:/Users/tamastamas/Desktop root# kextload -v /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2100.kext

kextload: extension /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2100.kext appears to be valid

kextload: loading extension /System/Library/Extensions/iwi2100.kext

- no airport device detected

- no button on my IBM T40 only Fn+F5 has to be pressed to get both wlan and bluetooth active

- btw: bluetooth works well

- ifconfig shows only en0 (wired net - works well)

- no any wlan

my logs and pcilist are attached.

Please help, thanks, Tamas

I have a wireless on/off button but it seems to be managed by the motherboard (ie, it works without any special drivers in Windows, if I put it on off, it turns my bluetooth + iw3945 off automatically, as if I unplugged a USB dongle) and NOT by the card itself.

see previous posts for the correct Apple80211.framework...

it looks like i'm the only one who has a "wireless button" :thumbsup_anim:

i think the keyboard shortcuts do the same thing

kazu, this also happens with your card?

if you reboot (i windows) with the card connected to a network, does it stays on?

try to reboot from windows to mac os with the card power on - it might help

the

IPW_INTA_BIT_RF_KILL_DONE\nPress wireless button to turn interface on\n

is called only when the interface is off or by the firmware.

in iwi2200 when i press the wireless button it turns on - you should get the same effect using the keyboard

if this doesn't happen it's because of the firmware.

i never was hable to use the wireless button without loading the firmware correctly

did you try to reboot from a working connection from windows to macos?

in the log there's nothing after the "press wireless button"

kazu, maybe we should make a p_debug parameter to allow debuging setting in the info.plist?

debug print is defined in header files

if we will create p_debug options , checking in header may be difficult.

about performance problem.

I tested without debug print. but driver performance is very lower.

we have the other big problem about iwi driver.

IOLeg should not be used in interrupt service routine.( it is written in apple's doccument)

we may implement buffering print routine to avoid this....
