Easy update of my HackBookPro6,2 to Tahoe 26.1 RC via OTA.  Still waiting patientiy for OCLP post-install patches, but it's surprisingly responsive.

macOS Tahoe 26.1 beta 4 and macOS Tahoe 26.1 RC installation. The AppleHDA.kext patch works perfectly on both systems.

NEW and OLD secondary drives, along with the official version, work perfectly with the AppleHDA.kext patch and the MyKextInstaller 1.5 application. NVME hard drive-to-USB adapter: the patch and the update from version 26.1 RC and previous versions work perfectly without problems. SSD-to-USB adapter: it's impossible to update to beta 4 and RC with the same error posted previously, and I've attached a screenshot of the error.

It's only possible with version 1.3 of the program; versions 1.4 and 1.5 don't work.

I don't know if it's an error with the SSD-to-USB adapter, but the NVME-to-USB adapter did work. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this.

@allI am not being offered any macOS Tahoe full installer or incremental updates on my Alder Lake platform however on that same platform updates are indeed being offered for Sequoia.

I am using OC 1.5 with all the latest kexts and RestrictEvents.kext properly configured as otherwise Sequoia would not receive an update/upgrade notification.

Any help to resolve this problem will be appreciated, even a link to the full macOS Tahoe RC (25B77) installer would be welcome because it is also not listed by the latest Mist V.0.3

Hi @Henties "not being offered any macOS Tahoe full installer or incremental updates" ? Do you activated Developer channel in System settings ?

If I remember well, Full Release Candidate is never publish on Apple catalog. You can use Full macOS Tahoe 26. Beta 4 from mrmackintosh website. Then update to RC. On my opinion, macOS Tahoe 26.1 Release will be publish in few days. So wait and see if you got update.

@Max.1974Thanks for your response, however I believe that my boot args. and other configuration config.plist options are correct because I use the same config.plist for all macOS systems on my Alder Lake hack with only Alder Lake not offering me Tahoe updates.

Also the System Settings of Alder Lake are identical to what I configured for Sequoia.

I think in order for me to be able to proceed a link to the Tahoe RC1 (25B77) installer is all that is needed at this stage.

Hey all.
Update went well but again the initial download and install failed via system updates.  The OS then automatically switches to downloading the full installer and that installed successfully.  The only pre install prep I do is roll back OCLP mod patches.

Sound is unaffected as I use the Sabrent USB plug in to provide it.

Multiple reasons that full installer will be downloaded by OTA update including

  • OCLP patches weren't properly rolled back
  • BluetoolFixup.kext is enabled

@Max.1974 The link you provided seems to be for macOS Tahoe Beta 25B5072a and not macOS Tahoe 25B77, actually requested by me.

The post by MatGen84 here should explain.  If you need the RC, best to figure out why you're not seeing the OTA update or wait for the final release.

@Henties @deeveedee

Hello my friends, I apologize — I wasn’t able to find this release in Apple’s catalogs. Maybe I should check in other sources, but if I do find it I’ll let you know. I didn’t realize it was a specific one.

As for the OTA update, I don’t really use it anymore, since I prefer downloading the full installer and running it with my patch that uses Apple’s native startosinstaller. I find this approach more efficient these days because the system comes out 100% installed right away, giving more security and speed without issues related to USB or Bluetooth, and without the need to disable anything. Otherwise, there’s always the risk of crashes caused by USB or other incompatibilities.

From what I’ve seen, macOS Tahoe version 26.1 build 25B77 is indeed listed as a Release Candidate (RC) for developers. It also seems to support Macs with Apple Silicon as well as some selected Intel Macs — and it’s expected to be the last release compatible with Intel.

And from my own experience, when the installer size is smaller than 17–18 GB — for example, 14 GB like in this release — Apple usually doesn’t list it in the catalogs. It’s only available as an OTA update.

So, if in your case the OTA version already came as build 25B77, it’s pretty much certain that it’s the same RC that shows up in the catalogs.

My hack update with OTA and im using Clover 5164 without BlueToolFixup.kext because im using Broadcom 4360 (not need it) and even my Laptop T14 with intel Bluetooth works fine too...

Easy incremental OTA upgrade of my "new" HackBookPro16,2 to Tahoe 26.1 RC after clean install of 26.1 Beta.  Tahoe runs very well on this hack.  Using VoodooHDA.kext 3.0.3 for clear, quality audio and OpenWireless itlwm for Intel Wi-Fi.  Keeping SIP csr-active-config = <01000000> to allow VoodooHDA.kext after installing it in /Library/Extensions.  Kernel > Quirks > DisableIoMapper = True for working itlwm.  Temporarily disabled BluetoolFixup.kext to permit incremental update.

Finally solved the problem of WhateverGreen's abnormality in macOS Tahoe, and it was not achieved by abandoning all AMDSupport patches!

Now it can apply all the necessary patches about AMDRadeon* normally.

WhateverGreen-1.7.1d4-DEBUG.zip

1.7.1d4 is outdated,don't use!

please download d6 below.

The problem occurs at the time of AMDSupport patching. The execution time of processConnectorOverrides() must be after AMDRadeonX* and AMDRadeonSvcMgr are correctly loaded into the memory, otherwise it will be frozen at the loading KernelCache stage. However, the BaseSystemKernelExtensions.kc used in the first、second stages of OTA and recovery mode will only retain AMDSupport, AMDFramebuffer and AMD*Controller in memory after successfully booting into the user interface (AMD*Controller is only loaded on the Polaris core) and will not load the real graphics card driver. But WhateverGreen will forcibly load AMDSupport and overwrite the connector, which leads to the above problems. Similarly, without any acceleration, the data of the connector will not affect the display, and we can completely disable this process. It can only be loaded when the normal system is started.

Previously, a friend in the forum modified a WhateverGreen. At that time, he said that the problem was "must wait for IOGraphicsFamily to load first". In fact, it seemed wrong.

Best regards.

---------

EDIT:

Some graphics cards failed to load the correct buffer frame, causing KP to restart. Please download the D5 version! Not D4!

WhateverGreen-1.7.1d5.zip

1.7.1d5 is outdated,don't use!

please download d6 below.

EDIT

1.7.1d6 Support OTA upgrade! D6 supports system upgrade, system installation and recovery mode! Completely repaired!

WhateverGreen-1.7.1d6.zip

1.7.1d6 is outdated,don't use!

please download d7 below.

--------

EDIT

The final version has been released! It has been confirmed that there is no problem, and it works stably on all systems! Go to this reply to download.

@laobamac_yyds Well done!  You might be the only one who can fix BluetoolFixup.kext so that it doesn't break incremental OTA updates.  Thank you for all you're doing.
