I installed Tahoe with RX570 as only card and all is fine with Clover and without WhateverGreen.

I encounter same FileVault problem. I can't enter password until encoding is finished. Now I can and I can use the encrypted system.

But I encounter a new problem and I want to ask here if anyone else see this.

My HDD said "clack-clack and stopped". I decided it is dead and bought new one. It also said "clack-clack..."

I rebooted into Sequoia and see all HDDs are very good.

I have installed in one MacPro1,1, beta2 on HDD. Slow but no issue.

A few post back, I bemoaned not being able to clean install Beta 2 and can only update off Beta 1 with the RX580 on line.

Ladies and Gentlemen I cracked the code as what was also done by others before me.

How to Clean Install Tahoe

  1. Use the Opencore-Simplify app on Windows and choose  a Mac version without the need for OCLP to enable WLFI. I chose Ventura in the process.
  1. Choose the 7,1 Mac Pro SmBIOS model to build the EFI this is important.
  1. In the EFI FOLDER, disable WEG.kext as this will inhibit the install.
  1. Boot off the newly created EFI Folder and clean the NvRAM at least twice, this also is very important and must be done.
  1. With the absence of the WEG kext, purple lines will appear on the screen for a few seconds but the installer will go on to the first language screen.
  1. During the setup if you want to keep your usual Mac Model (SmBIOS) and not use the 7,1 Mac model, do not furnish all your data I.e Apple P/W etc.
  1. Just fill in the ones that must be filled in before you can move on to the next window.
  1. You have now reached the Desktop, you can now discard the 7,1 EFI Folder and use your usual one. I use Mac Model 20,20.
  1. Reboot the machine off your desired Mac Model EFI in place which will show the change of model was successful.

I have tested this Method twice on a test disk and each step as described was successful.

For some, putting max kernel for whatevergreen 24.99.99 for first 2 stages on install, can help. This way you can access other installed macOS for EFI tuning.

We're all crazy, but we're going to have a Hackitosh finale as it deserves, with a lot of noise and a lot of work. This is going to be a challenge.

Maybe even giving credit to whoever published the guide

True... I do not know the Jac Tim, but is who made the guide... Like I said the colleague thats I'm talking about..

It would have been easier and more correct to share the link and give credit, rather than copy and paste
making people believe that they were the first to discover hot water

Which by the way had already posted at the beginning Shaneee

Thanks to a colleague that make this possible with those commands via Recovery partition. => Jac Tim is the Colleague from https://www.ichi.co.uk/blog/removing-file-vault-from-internet-recovery-console

You might want to add, that this FileVault unlock approach also works directly from Sequoia for those who have a dual boot system with Tahoe.

That's what I did😀.

And once, thanks to your decisions, I installed Mac os on x99

Thank you very much

I have 2 x299 boards in stock right now. https://ru.msi.com/Motherboard/X299-GAMING-PRO-CARBON/support and https://www.asus.com/ru/motherboards-components/motherboards/prime/prime-x299-deluxe / , but I don't see the point in them at the moment.

Sorry for what I did not putting the name of the Colleague and the link, but I never take the credit by my self, First time I just said that everything's possible by a colleague that made the commands to make things happen.

Why to leave them in stock when you could use one of them in the meanwhile e.g.to support the X299 community like I do again.. 😉. X299 has its native macOS implementation and does not need xcpm kernel patching like x99 does or did the latter fact change for x99 in the recent past and I just missed it?

Below the link to my universal opencore EFI-Folder for all recent versions of macOS (also works with Sequoia and Tahoe). This EFI is especially designed for the X299 community and all my former followers, however it is also applicable for other more recent builds and SMBIOS Versions different from SMBIOS macPro7,1.

If you don't use your X99 rig anymore and have some more recent hardware only (as I see from your signature), I fully understand your statement and decision. X299 also reached its days quite some time ago, but for me and what I am doing right now, it is still more than sufficient.  And for anybody else with low budget it might be still sufficient, too..  The EFI is anyway quite intuitive and generally applicable also for state of the art systems, at least for somebody with some basic knowledge. And last but not least my X299 system still allows me to catch up with all of you here, which is really a big pleasure and I missed many years. 🤗

I have never used HDMI in all the years of running a Hack or a Windows p/c.

Geez.....might be a good time to start using HDMI.....it just works.....I guess you could wait for Dortania to enable AppleHDA via OCLP, I suppose, but that could only work for one release and then you would have to update it with every release....does your GPU provide any audio at all?

But you didn't install Ventura, you installed Tahoe. The Ventura choice is only to do the EFI, right?

Hi my friend, I think HDD its not compatible yet ;)  are you get some special config to use FakeSMC in Clover ? I could not boot ... but if I can will change for Clover. Using 5162 and trying last of your build from FakeSMC - Thanks !!

Hi, Max

I use nothing special. Just let you know that kext loading in Clover has no tuning in config.plist unlike opencore. There is just Clover latest commit (not release) and latest  release FakeSMC (neither kozlek nor rehabman).
