Following issue: In 2018 I applied an Ubuntu EEPROM modding to the onboard Intel X550-AT2 NICs of my ASUS WS X299 Sage 10G. Since then, I was successfully using the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext even up to Sequoia. Now under Tahoe, driver and NICs are still properly implemented with fully working LAN and Internet,  but I face from time to time KPs caused by the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext:

I therefore tried to change to IntelLucy.kext version 1.1.1. With the latter kext driver and NICs are also properly implemented, but the LAN at both NICs is disabled and there is no internet. I disabled VT-d in BIOS and enabled the DisableIoMapper quirk without any success. Further ideas solving the situation?

You can easily check if this is true. Write in this line GeForce RTX 5090 to make sure that this does not affect the system boot or the operation of the video card.

Well I did what you told me, The system still boots up, not showing as GeForce RTX 5090, but still shows as AMD Radeon RX 570. If I let the system with defalt model string, it does not boots the system, I guess if I change the value for anything besides Ellismare, it show my correct name adapter and doing this it's boots like a charm.

Once again, no. In this line, you can write a fairy tale about Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, everything will work as it did before.

I had this model string Original from OpenCore Configurator (1.0.5) with this string Ellesmere [Radeon RX 470/480/570/570X/580/580X/590], after change this to AMD Radeon RX 570x it worked like a charm, but the system shows up as AMD Radeon 570 (not the X version). The other values does not make a difference in my Hack turns on with video acceleration or not.

Did you know why this cosmetic made my system to boot up?

You're using the exact RX 560x DeviceProperties that I determined to work with the EliteDesk 800 G4 Mini (including the PP overrides and CFG_FB_LIMIT override).  Maybe this is just a coincidence.

I'm going to go out on a limb, but my guess is that the cosmetic change had nothing to do with it.

No I'm not using this as you posted early those lines in DeviceProperties. My System is using only model line (AMD Radeon RX 570x). Letting Ellismere [... my system does not boot's... With your lines, it does change the values in System Info, but do not make a change in Finder issue or Safari... They still do not opens and get's me to an Black Screen again.

By the way, did you system get's black screen when you click Safari or Finder?

Fernando.

CFG,CFG_FB_LIMIT=2 is not a common DeviceProperty, since for virtually all installations, WEG handles this automatically.  If those aren't your DeviceProperties, please accept my apology.

I have no black screens.

No worries, but in deed, messing with values does not make a change in how system boots up. Now with any value (String) in model, only gets AMD Radeon RX 570 in System info.

I change a lot of configurations and now I had a System that's has acceleration, but still get's Black Screen If I do click in Finder or Safari.

I will try to chage BIOS and other things to discover what made my System to Work.

Appologies for these (DeviceProperties) indeed has nothing to do with (model) string.

You have more patience than I do...  I'm waiting for the next Tahoe Beta or an update to WhateverGreen.kext (not sure which will fix it).  Until then, I have Polaris enabled and 'working' as long as I don't use a headless iGPU as described here.  It works very well, driving multiple displays with Metal acceleration by the dGPU.

EDIT: If there is not going to be a change to Tahoe, I have a theory about how it might be fixed here, but I don't know how to apply the required kernel patch without a modification of WhateverGreen.kext.

Thanks for the quick answer, man! Could you please explain a bit more about the DMAR mod and how it can be applied, or provide any link that refers to? Or did I miss something here during the individual posts, where it would be explained already? Anyway, you posted on page 43: "DMAR solution doesn't work.", thus I don't know if it is really worth to further investigate this alternative option. Furthermore, as both Lan and Internet work with the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext under Tahoe (I just face from time to time KPs with this driver, that's why I tried to use IntelLucy.kext at all at last instance), my issue with no Lan nor Internet with IntelLucy.kext seems rather to be related with the kext and Tahoe than hardware, VT-d, DisableIoMapper quirk or DMAR. Well, maybe anybody else also might have further suggestions or ideas. 👍

@iaihc If your RX460 is unstable in Tahoe, then I wouldn't declare victory.  The configuration I described is rock-solid.  I posted to give everyone else hope that there will be a solution for those (everyone else, I believe) who have a headless iGPU framebuffer (only using their dGPU display ports).  I have implemented an unconventional configuration where both my iGPU and dGPU heads are enabled (in DeviceProperties).

At the very least, this should offer clues to those who are attempting to implement a fix.

EDIT: In my current configuration, I have two displays connected to the two iGPU display ports on my hack and no displays connected to the dGPU display port.  The two displays work flawlessly and so far, I've had no issues in Tahoe with my RX 560x enabled.  As shown here, the dGPU provides metal acceleration on the iGPU ports.  I know there are use cases where the dGPU display ports are required, but this is progress and a clear indicator that Polaris is "supported" in Tahoe.

Hey @deeveedee! I was literally cracking my head trying to use a Polaris into a laptop with Intel IGPU driving the main display and multiple displays trough RX 480m connectors, but at the same time with GPU acceleration. I have tried all: vbios, SMBIOS, whatevergreen patches, kexts from older oses....... And you come with this properties and you nail it. Thank you! In the attach you can see Tahoe with Intel IGPU main and RX 580, both running a display. OpenCL and Metal trough RX 580. Full acceleration!! I don't have with me the laptop (Dell Precision M6800 with RX 480m) to test this settings, but I have a good feeling that you gave me the solution. 🤗

One thing I just tried today is to change the kexts (IOREG) shows up with Sequoia's ones... Still gives me Black Screen when open Finder (Folders), Safari, Screen Capture and some others..

Waiting Apple release another Beta to see if thats is corrected or another WhateverGreen.kext version.

Best regards,

Fernando.

I just created a new EFI with compatibility with Install macOS Tahoe / Run macOS Tahoe, it run even Sequoia with the EFI.

I have to revalidate my previous conclusions. With VT-d in BIOS enabled and DisableIoMapper kernel quirk enabled, Lan and Internet now also work with IntelLucy.kext and the driver seems to be much more stable under Tahoe than the SmallTreeIntel8259x.kext. All KPs are gone. I just had to manually enable once en0 in the system settings, now my onboard Intel X550-AT2 NICs automatically connect to LAN and Internet after each boot or wake. 👍 No need to mod the DMAR  in any case. BTW.. With DisableIoMapper kernel quirk disabled, my system even won't boot under Tahoe.

Hi Guys  😃

Thanks to everyone for the new Dortania kexts and the golden tip from my Brazilian compatriot  @fernando.c.neves about the new updated kexts.

I finally got the Tahoe working on the Gigabyte Z790 board, Elite AX with the RX 6900 XT, working Ethernet, native Broadcom Bluetooth, USBs and thanks to the new Opencores that came out of Action a few days ago by the Opencore team. God bless the Hackintoshers, intelligent and helpful people. Thanks to each one of you here we managed it once again.

I didn't test starting the installation from the pendrive but I installed it with the command I told you about. It installed perfectly and then with the new updates we can use agdpmod=pikera and WEG. Very happy!!

Thanks all of you!   :trumpet:

How new are those WEG updates as I had to disable to install too (we have similar hardware and not at home right now to test)?

Hi Max good work! I got it working on my Asus Z690 (1225 ethernet) but no ethernet. Is there any specific thing you did to get network? I don't have wi-fi either but that's the broadcom card, pretty sure nobody's got that working without OCLP. Everything else seems fine.

The new kexts updated by Dortania here:  https://dortania.github.io/builds/?product=DebugEnhancer&viewall=true

My EFI

EFI-GA-Z790-Elite.AX-Tahoe.zip

But I run command to install from Sequoia that finalize all installer and them it run automatic and deleted your old system installed and formalize Tahoe with Recovery and all. I will test run from installer on pendrive or partition from "scratch" but this command is from "scratch" too ;)

Hi Max good work! I got it working on my Asus Z690 (1225 ethernet) but no ethernet. Is there any specific thing you did to get network? I don't have wi-fi either but that's the broadcom card, pretty sure nobody's got that working without OCLP. Everything else seems fine.

@surfinchina  Hi my friend, I think you need update from Dortania the new kexts and disable DMAR.aml and enable DisableIomapper and DisableIoMapperMapping

Hi Bro, sorry I missed the whole conversation/discussion on the subject.

The Pen Drive EFI you created, what Platform is it suited for?

Just for clarity for potential new members still looking to install Tahoe.

So many different successful EFI examples for different Platforms offered up.

It is a pity they all can't be group in a Section making it easy for newbies and members alike to find and try.

Tahoe has certainly opened wide and varied conversations on the Hack scene.

It seems our past thinking on the whole macOS Installation method had to be reshaped and re-booted so to speak.

Thanks and Cheers. :thumbsup_anim:

Hi eSaF, the platform I created this EFI is for Rocket Lake (11 gen Intel)

My Hardware is an B560M-H Motherboard from Gigabyte.

But I guess it will work on other hackintoshes at least the Pen Drive to run Install macOS Beta (26.0 - Tahoe).

The same EFI will work even to run installed macOS Tahoe / Sequoia 15.5, it´s fully compatible.

I saw that people are using one EFI for Pen Drive and another one to run the installed system (macOS Tahoe),

now I had made this EFI that runs for Pen Drive (Vanilla macOS Tahoe)

sudo ./createmediainstall --volume /Volumes/your_pen_drive

then put the EFI I made in EFI boot partition of your created pen drive with the command.

After that when you installed the Tahoe, it will boot with the same EFI too.
