Hey man mind sharing your Dock? It is awesome.

The dock is DragThing...

Got pissed last night... fell over and smashed my face in, cracked some ribs and lost my gloves. Hoping some Kanji will bring me some luck... oh well.

Cheers!

^^ damn that's a sick theme....

How did you get the iron man in the background of your finder window? Also Does anyone know how i am able to get rid of my finder icon on my dock? I don't want it there. I hate the look of the icon and it won't let me change it the regular way or remove it from the dock.

But here's my MacBook as of now

I'm new to customizing this stuff so my theme is just eXec on shapeshifter. I'm running 10.4.11 so i can still use it. But is there a way to make my dock translucent black or leopard look alike? And if it's possible i would like to change my apple in the top left corner to the classic apple logo colors.

to put an image on the finder window all you need to do is right-click on any finder window then click on "show view options" from there you can change your finder backround to a different color or a picture. I suggest choosing a picture that is very light to make the icons readable. The iron man picture i used was originally dark and full of color but I tweaked it via iphoto to look like a sketch.

As for the finder icon, I don't think you can take it out of the dock because it is always on. Now, what you can do since you hate the look of it is to change it to a different icon. I tried doing it manually but it just never works, same for the trash icon, so i use a free program called "LiteIcon" to change my icons. I hope that helps :D

Yeah that helps a lot actually. Thanks for the info. I didn't realize editing the background of the finder window was as easy as that. And thanks for the program link. Now i just need to figure out how to change my dock since TransparentDock isn't compatible with my version.

I get the impression that most people use the down and dirty way to changing there docks. By manipulating png files. I don't know if its the same procedure for tiger but here is a link for how to do it Website. Your dock consists of png image files by replacing them with different png images you change the look of your dock. You can download png files of different docks by googling custom mac docks or a multitude of other sources.I f done wrong it can do some damage so I highly suggest that you BACKUP THE FILES that you are going to replace. I'm just putting this out there but i really think it's different with tiger and i'm not familiar with tiger.

yeah i think it is different with tiger. Because when i go into /system/library/privateframeworks i have no coreUI foler like leopard does. I was trying to make custom themes on my girlfriend's new macbook.

This is as far as i got

So i got to the point of being able to edit the images to change the .png files but i am not really sure what i'm supposed to do from there. Am i supposed to open the images in photoshop and change them according to how i want them and save a new .png and replace the original in that folder i am in? I asked on the how to thread i posted on but no one has responded yet.

Thizzle... to get a semi trans menu bar you could try menushade...

Liteicon will let you change your finder icon on your dock... to get a more Leopard like dock I use DragThing. See my sreenshot above... it's Tiger.

As for modding the apple you will need to edit extras2.rsrc (be careful)... you will need Themepark and an mage editor.

Good luck... glad to see some peeps are still on Tiger!

As for Leopard themeing there are a couple of apps under developement, Architect and Facade.

thanks for the tip. I couldn't figure out how to change it on Tiger. I figured out the dock and Finder icon on leopard for my girl friend's macbook. But i'm still trying to figure out how to make custom themes. I don't know how to use ThemePark but i was following this tutorial http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...103567&st=0 for changing themes. I followed all the way to step 5 and was able to open the artfiles folder that has all the .png files in it. I tried to edit them using photoshop and putting color overlays on them and resaving them in My Documents and then replacing the new file with the original. But then when i try to do step 7 i get a message in terminal that says "Invalid or corrupt jarfile artfiles/". So i'm stumped as to what to do from here. Other people following this tool have had no problems and they said editing using photoshop is fine. So i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. But i would really love to create some custom themes. Is themepark easier to use?

I've only used Themepark to skin iTunes and some minor themeing stuff by dragging files from a guikit onto extras2.rsrc, mainly to get the Leopard menubar, so I'm in no way an expert. I've had the BSOD a couple of times as well! A reinstall fixes that though.

Give it a try... it's quite intuitive to use.

Belated New years greetings to all!
