Indeed very interesting.. Hope it's true.

Well, I'm expecting an Intel build since Adobe had announced that it would completely drop PPC. But it's not clear in the article - it even sounds more likely to be a PPC build. We'll see soon.

People familiar with the Macintosh version of the editor confirm it to be a Universal Binary which "simply screams" on Apple Computer's new Intel-based hardware. However, they tell AppleInsider that this week's beta will include only the standard version of Photoshop CS3.

In its labs, Adobe has also been developing an "Advanced" version of Photoshop CS3 -- geared towards the video and science markets -- with enhanced capabilities for the most demanding and specialized images.

That doesn't seem to clear to me. Why would they say that it simply screams on an Intel Mac then put that however statement in. They don't even mention the advanced version until the next paragraph.

I agree it would make zero sense for them to release a non-unibin beta, but to me at least that seems to be what the article is saying.

It's just a poorly written paragraph. As they put "however", they also put "standard version", not "PPC version". What makes you think that "standard" refers to non-unibin instead of non-advanced?

Yeah, whatever.. The only important thing for me is to see it screaming on my hackintosh.

Well we shouldn't have to wait to long to find out, they said the beta would be announced on Friday. I am really hoping it is a unibin. As nice as Gimpshop is, I still prefer Photoshop. Don't get me wrong, CS2 runs fine, but I am really looking forward to a "screaming" version of Photoshop.

So basically, next Friday PhotoShop, then sometime in this month the whole CS3 Suite? In the first story, they said Adobe will not release betas of other CS applications besides PhotoShop.

I've heard that what made it scream on Mactel was the OpenGL-based image zooming, and that it is disabled in this release (and likely the final release). I have no idea why.

Perhaps related to the fact that they now optimize Photoshop for Windows? Could be it was buggy and since OS X isn't top priority they just dropped it.
