just to report, the memory leak problem is still present in 12.1 (OC 0.7.6) For example when opening the same programs on 11.6.2 using 5GB of Ram; on 12.1 will be using 9.5GB of Ram.  16GB of ram is not enough for Monterey to run smoothly under moderate workload, I guess will need 32GB.

The same here. I use high memory and stay more in Safari and open mail. Another PC I'm using, it has 8GB DDR4, and this one has more than 6GB in use with almost nothing open

Hi. I have Monterey 12.01 installed and it works flawlessly. I tried to do the update, and after the first restart, I get this. SMBios: iMac19,1. Should I change the mac identity? I also have OpenCore 0.76. Something is wrong in my settings, but I have no idea what. Thank you in advance.

On the download section there is EFI of my Asus card in signature, then just update the clover and leave the options as they are

or secure boot model = "Default", or change smbios to iMac16,2 or other, in the first two reboot cycles of the update, then go back to yours.

@Ludox @pitrysha Thank you for your EFI's, don't work even with them and I've found out why. Is my onboard wifi card from my Asus X99 Deluxe ([0b05:180a] Azurewave 4360+20702 combo]). With it disabled from bios, the update from 12.0.1 to 12.1 went flawlessly. I'm now on 12.1 but I've lost Wi-Fi (bluetooth works like before on 12.0.1). I've tried also with and without AirportBRCMfixup, same KP. Will post bellow the kp output with wifi card enabled from bios.

If your setup is like mine, I had to remove one of the two plugins in the AirportBrcmFixup.kext.  For me, I needed to remove the AirPortBrcm4360_Injector.kext.  Since you have the 4360 chipset, you may need to remove the AirPortBrcmNIC_Injector.kext plugin.  See if removing one of these two plugins gets you past the KP you are getting.

Finally it works. The removal of injector did not work for me, my card has "pci14e4,43a0" identifier witch is found on native AirPortBrcmNIC.kext and also AirPortBrcmNIC injector. So what I did next was to use brcmfx-driver=1 boot-arg and now works. In ioJones I still see that my card uses AirPortBrcmNIC but now it boots like before 12.1 and wifi works as it should. Before 12.1 my card did't need brcmfx-driver=1 to work but it seems Apple are still working on wifi after 6 months of releasing the beta of Monterey. Thank you for your time and help !!!

Quote

brcmfx-driver=0|1|2|3 enables only one kext for loading, 0 - AirPortBrcmNIC-MFG, 1 - AirPortBrcm4360, 2 - AirPortBrcmNIC, 3 - AirPortBrcm4331, also can be injected via DSDT or Properties → DeviceProperties in bootloader

Hey.. I'm not seeing the update as well !!

I have SIP totally enabled ( csr-active-config = 00000000 / Opencore 7.6 ) but no way to go ahead...

Any suggestion? ( with BigSur I always resolved this by enabling SIP, but it's not working anymore )

FYI to resolve this I had to set SecureBootModel = Default in OpenCore Boot section (it was Disabled)

And, of course, SIP needs to be enabled.

UPDATE: I had to rollback to 12.0.1, even 12.1 was working sometimes, i needed like 10 rebooot to be able to boot back agin in 12.1. Will try next days with 12.2 beta to see what happens.

is interesting to see that as of Nov 2021, 80% of macs are still on Big Sur.  Comparing to the previous years, it should be down to less than 30%.  I've been reading reports that the memory leak is possibly caused by the code migrating to Swift, and allowing it to control memory usage with its in-built memory management system.  Looking at Apple's website, benchmarks were tested on MacBook Pros with 32GB & 64GB of RAM only, while battery usage was tested on MacBooks with 16GB & 32GB of RAM.  Looks like Apple was well aware of this problem, and implemented all sorts of damage control well ahead of time.  In other words, this won't be an easy fix unless there is a big memory-gate PR incident.  Apple was so smart in sending all the YouTube Reviewers with machines with a minimum of 32GB of RAM, and with them subtly hinting that we should all have 64GB of RAM.  Furthermore, this will prompt people to upgrade to M1 based MacBooks.  I wish they put more effort in developing their software.
