The Kext works intermittently. I am trying to find a permanent workaround to get audio working on Big Sur and Monterey

I have an old patched 2.8.1 for Atapi  on rather archaic HP C2Duo machine, which work even on Monterey 2... in Library/Extension folder ofc.

@Hervé @Mateo I intend to install Big Sur on external ssd and use kmutil to make it work permanently. I don't wanna mess up my working laptop on its sealed volume.

AppleALC/AppleHDA works fine on Big Sur 11.5 beta and Monterey beta2, Intel 520, booting with injection in both Open Core and Clover.

@Slice @Hervé @chris1111 I got it to work with a workaround installVoodHDAwWorkaround

Essentially, I used the following commands and restart.

sudo kmutil load -p /Library/Extensions/voodooHDA.kext
sudo touch /Library/Extensions  

Please give it a shot.

Let me know if it helps

I also upgraded to beta 2. VoodooHDA still working.

Don't know about OpenCore. I am on Clover.

Installing in both location works, as this is the only way since 11.3 for me.

 

The issue i was trying to solve is the onboard sound, it always shows only the Digital-Out (HDMI).

 

Regardless of the method i used, it works and thats what counts for me.

@ellaosx Is the voodooHDA working all the time?

How do you install in both locations? Do you mean S/L/E and L/E? Please elaborate.

What tool did you use?

Other & LE folder. No tools needed. No need to kmutil nor kextload. Never had issue with that method.

I know this was two years ago now, but is anyone else still using VoodooHDA? I managed to get it to work like 5 times but every time I rebooted for an SSDT patch or something it would just stop in it's tracks.
