sandmanfvrga
Interesting. I hope the prices are the same. Hmmm, a base Mac Mini and 1 gig ram looks like a better deal now for me. The iMac has the Core 2 Duo, but if the Mini's get them, then they are going to crunch some numbers!
Technobob
That is good news I was going to build a core 2 system in January because I did not want to buy the current Mac Mini. Will have to see pricing and speeds to see if it's worth it.

cat_7
On the dutch apple site (and others) two core duo mac mini models are shown: a 1.66 Mhz at 619 Euro and a 1.83 Mhz model at 799 Euro (base prices) Cat_7
macgirl
What happen if I bought a Mac Mini with a Core Solo, could I buy a Core 2 Duo (even a Core 2 Duo Extreme) and replace the processor? Should it work?

Should it work? No you can´t! The Board inside your mac mini doesnt supports core 2 duo processors. Sorry

Bearcat
Thats also cool! Although it would be much easier, if the mini already came with a Core 2 Duo in it, so I hope your message above is true. I'll be in line when that happens

wow
It would be nice if they put in 1024mb instead of 512mb, 512 is only good for email. I guess that when they put in 1024 leopard is out wich will need 2048

bluedragon1971
512 is only good for email. That's a load of BS. I use my Cube for all sorts of things, including managing my iPhoto library with well over 2000 pictures, and it only has 512MB of RAM. WHAT A GREAT NEWS I THINK IM GETTING MYSELF ONE NEXT YEAR! IF THEY JUST MAKE IT WITH AMD ON THEM THAT WILL BE GREAT TOO. TOO MUCH TO ASK I THINK Is it too much to ask for you to turn your F***ING capslock off? If Apple started using AMD chips, then several things would have to happen: 1. they would have to redesign the motherboard 2. they would have to add AMD optimizations to XCode (and all of their other software as well) 3. they would have to get rid of the CPU checks in some of the OS software 4. some software vendors would have to re-code their software as well that was coded to take advantage of Intel-specific things such as VT. I don't see all of this happening so soon after the recent transition.

gpxguy
BlackMac, would it be possible for you to paste in the original Email? Somehow I don't think Apple would word the Email like that. I am a little suspect about the validity of this (no offence BlackMac) but it goes against most of the speculation in various other Mac forums. Thanks!
