If you use AppleALC, make sure Lilu kext is in the same directory. Also, under Devices,  set Audio inject to 1. This should allow AppleALC to work. I have used it before and it worked perfectly.

Hello 10.14.5 is out and patched for mds zombieland , any way to disable all the mitigations ? spectre spectr2 mds etc ?

I'm not within the vulnerabilities of Intel. I will update to version 10.14.5 soon and update the guide.

to enable full mitigation we have to do this

With those qualifiers in mind, to enable full mitigation, follow these steps:

  1. Restart your Mac and hold Command key and the R key to enter macOS Recovery mode.
  2. Open the Terminal from the Utilities menu.
  3. Enter the command ‘nvram boot-args=”cwae=2″‘ (without single quotes) and press Return.
  4. Enter the command ‘nvram SMTDisable=%01’ and press Return.
  5. Then restart the Mac.

add those to clover but what if we want to disable every mitigation around ?

hello something really wrong happen if someone can reproduce this i was on the app Activity Monitor And I Selected System Diagnostics and I though ItWas Running In The background and it was but instead of give me a report the laptop rebooted Out Of the Blue nothing show just black screen and bang Lenovo Logo Back To Clover.

Working fine. I did not change my hardware, and used 32MB_DRAM-prealloc_config.plist.zip
First time doing this so I am a complete newbie, I used my family MacBook to make the install image.
Thank you so much for this guide, and thank you to all the contributors listed. My friend recommended me to use another method involving tonymac which is not supported by this forum, and such but I am not sure if this will work so I went with the sure thing :)

You can also just mount the whole USB instead of specifically the EFI partition: sudo diskutil mountDisk /dev/diskX
Also, you need to mount the EFI of your system too when installing (sudo diskutil mount /dev/disk0s1 - you always typically format system to disk0 anyway ...),
you should add this part in, I am sure everyone will figure it out just because it is necessary, but why not?

I also made sure to copy SSDT-L440.aml from the USB too iton /Volumes/EFI/CLOVER/ACPI/patched/ in my new installation, even though it was not listed, did I do it correctly?

I can tell you this: Compared to Synaptics drivers for Windows the default touchpad is UNUSABLE for this model right now. You are right here.
I have another model with the better touchpad installed, the one you recommend, but it is a L450 and my current laptop,
it also has 1080P IPS screen already installed + upgraded CPU and would be MUCH MUCH better than using this one. I wonder if I can do the exact same on this model?

For reference here is my
L440 - 20AS, my old laptop which was lying unused for months now, with i3 2-core CPU, does not overheat with this CPU.
L450 - 20DT with i5 CPU instead and 1080P IPS, the best touchpad ...

They are clearly different by the fact that the newer model uses the thinner shell which is annoying, because having to open it up you cannot just undo the screws,
you have to carefully use a prying tool around the back so as to not damage it that much to get the plastic clips off... So annoying. I assume it wont work just like that, but maybe?

EDIT: Very strange, I Googled and online guides also wrote that L450 already has DVMT pre-allocated size to 128. Hmm

Hi @courfazor, thanks for the feedback.

I will answer some questions:

The original wireless card is not compatible. So your wifi is not working, right?

I omitted this part because you would have just installed Clover on the internal disk, so the EFI partition would already be mounted. But I'll add that anyway.

That part was missing. I just added it now.

You can follow the same steps with the exception of SSDT-L440.aml that you will need a new one. Try first the 128M config.plist then 32M config.plist.

The concern with overheating was with the new processor I put. The original did not really heat up.

First of all, thanks so much for this guide.

I followed it to the letter with the exception of replacing hardware and re-flashing the bios. However, after selecting "install from MacOs" in Clover (per verbose mode) it automatically reboots right after "end randomseed". So I can't even reach the installer. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Check if AppleRTC, KernelPm and ASUSAICPUm are enabled. Open config.plist with Clover Configurator

Hi and thanks alot for this very complete guide. Am about to get almost the same laptop thinkpad L440 but its built with intel core i3 4000M wich has the same graphics as yours (intel HD graphics 4600) so just wondering if i could grab your shared files and use them "as is" ?

thx again

@aikido14 teorically will work "as is".

Just make sure to use te 32MB config.plist if you'll not mod your BIOS.

- Replace the /Volumes/EFI/CLOVER/config.plist with mine attached below

If you have modded BIOS with Advanced Menu and enabled 128MB DRAM-prealloc use 128MB_DRAM-prealloc_config.plist.zip

              If no, then use 32MB_DRAM-prealloc_config.plist.zip

And you'll not have WIFI working without mod your BIOS. Because you need to replace the stock wifi card, and have a BIOS protection (whitelist)

Hi, just wanted to point out the typo error:

My nickname is Sniki not Shiki, i saw it at the credits section as i see people seem to confuse that quite often (maybe it's due to the legacy "Shiki.kext") :D

Whatever files you used from my repo, they will be updated soon these upcoming days into github and so will my guide, i have updated them locally and will push the changes live into github soon.

Plenty of optimizations and code cleanup and more efficient patches.

I also created Dynamic System Logos so when you use dark mode, when you go to About this mac, the L440 laptop  appears with Dark Mojave Wallpaper and when you set light mode, it appears with light wallpaper.

Audio does work excellent for me even with AppleALC + CodecCommander + alc_fix (which is my default use).

However yes, the audio volume is lower than windows maybe voodooHDA can fix that issue.

Nice detailed guide and great explanation for the modded bios signature problem.

A lot of people reported having that problem after they patched bios but the problem was that the people who patched their Bios-es, were not experts or forgot to fix the signature. as in my cases none of my ThinkPads had that problem as the guy who patched my first one, i contacted him for my other thinkpads and he did correct the signature when he did send the mods everytime without asking him.

Happy Upgrading.

@"Sniki" Sorry. Fixed it.

I look forward to the updates.

This dynamic update you are doing sounds interesting.

@javashin1986 I haven't had time to upgrade to version 10.14.6 yet because I'm using this hackintosh at work. I work with mobile development, so I'm afraid to give any problems. Soon I will complete a project and I will perform the update, but it is good to know that it worked without problems.

I really get that, that is why I like to work with virtual environments for projects so that my dependencies can be locked to certain versions for only the project. I also am very motiviated to have a Hackintosh, especially after success doing it with my L440. It will be useful to do Swift UI programming, which I do not think is possible on Linux or Windows, and so I will await you new guide and try attempt a dual-boot Mojave + Linux/Windows, if its possible I believe installing Windows first as the Linux rule is (since Windows cant read Linux partitions and just proceeds to wipe everything) is the best idea, for Linux I am not sure. I remember from the time I used a MacBook exclusively that Clover was able to boot multiple OS perfectly. Either way thanks again and looking forwards to your update!

@courfazor I use for hybrid programming (Ionic). I stopped updating this guide because I'm using Catalina. Soon, I'll post a guide for him.

Works well with Catalina? One of the reasons I got mad at OS X is because after I updated my MacBook the mousepad stopped working as intended (not able to right-click) due to older model. But maybe with Hackintosh it does not matter? I am also looking forwards to your new guide, thank you for doing this.
