Hi ppl,

It has been a great day for me..

after striving really hard for the install of 10.4.8 AMD BETA TEST1 on my system..i must say i was rewarded in the end...

and for this all credit goes to MYZAR..for his help..

I followed the steps below..

1. Create a Virtual Machine as u wud usually make...

2. Then add a physical partition on which u gonna install the Mac OS X 10.4.8..

3. Now after creating a Virtual Machine.Close the VMWare application..

4. Then Go to the folder where ur Virtual Machine is saved.. usually its in My Documents -> My Virtual Machines.

5. then Open up the .vmx file of ur virtual machine. for instance in my case it was Mac.vmx.

6. then remove these two lines

scsi0.present = "TRUE"

scsi0.virtualDev = "lsilogic"

otherwise u will repent initially as i did..LOL... :D

7. Now then Save the File and open the VMWare..and start the Install...

8.ENJOY THE NEW INSTALL.... :angel:

PLEASE REPORT UR SUCCESS IF ANY FROM THIS GUIDE!!

OK, so for all of the methods that I have tried to do to get my Sil-3132 card to work I'm going to try this next. VMware to recognize the card and boot to it, then add the kexts that I need for the 3132.

I can't seem to get it to recognize a restored volume with the proper drivers...haven't had any luck with a patched dvd. So why not...

Just a quick note to Sam_the_killer,

How did you get your asus a8n-sli deluxe working with os 10.4.8? I've just had my MSI k8n ultra die on me and i've upgraded to the asus a8n and when i try to install osx it always hangs. Any help would be really appreciated. Which version of os x are you running, i.e. jas? tubgirl?

I've had success installing to an external HD via usb. I've got a laptop with nforce/sata. I haven't written the image back to the laptop HD yet, but I can boot up and use the OS without problem. (via usb)

In theory, if this method works, I could cut a step out by removing the laptop's hd... putting it in an external 2.5" case and installing it via usb. All that would remain would be to place the hd back into the laptop and boot.

now to get a drive enclosure.

if anyone wants to try this method, I recommend Tigerdirect for cheap enclosures.
