Mac_Daddy2012
Hi all, I'm following this guide to install 10.13 to my 8700k build. Specs are as follows8700k Gigabyte Aorus Gaming 7 Rev 1 Gskill Trident z 32gb 3000 EVGA 1080ti sc2 Samsung 850 evo 500gb I've made a bootable usb following this guide and added the EFI from the thread at the top of this post.I've edited smbios to be imac 18,3, updated Fake SMC to 3.5.1, am using the latest clover 4318 followed this guide to enable Nvidia gpu. Kexts are already in the “other” folder, removed EMUVariableUEFi. Used Clover Configurator to generate new serial and smuuid and made sure ff and ffm were not zeroes. I've tried this whole process at least a half dozen times in slightly different ways each time. Furthest I've gotten is to the second stage of the install, after the first reboot and the creation of the recovery partition, the installer hangs and gives a somewhat generic error message saying something along the lines of "Mac OS High Sierra can not be installed on this computer. Run Apple Diagnostics."Checking the install log and I find one error that seems to be of note regarding a failed extraction of Core.pkg if memory serves [was doing this late at night].Can any one of you gurus provide any help? I really appreciate any help! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/330229-cant-install-high-sierra-8700k-gigabyte-aorus-gaming-7-rev1/ Share on other sites

Mac_Daddy2012
Thanks maldon! First thing I’ll try is your clover folder. I’ll reply over on your thread since there’s a lot of action. Massive ups man! Friendlyx
I have the same specs as you, were you able to solve this? I'm just not able to boot to install it. Munkoli
I have same specs as you exactly except 3200 trident and no nvidia GPU. I used the hackintosher efi and it installed instantly. So either it's an nvidia thing, in which case just install with integrated GPU first then add nvidia later, or get rid of the additions you made to the efi config. It works out the box. Fastest hackintosh build ever. Mac_Daddy2012
I've been struggling with the build. I had it running using the efi from Maldon in the above post. Then I messed it up with a botched time machine restore. Now I'm trying to get back in and remember what I did. Mac_Daddy2012
I just tried removing my 1080ti, setting graphics to internal in BIOS, reinstalling, and using the hackintosher EFI folder from my first post, same issue I've been plagued with: after the installer reboots (and I disable APFS conversion) I get an error message "OSX can't be installed on this system" at about 11 minutes left in the process. I made it past this step before and I can't remember how for the life of me. Last time I had success using Maldon's Clover, so I don't know what I'm missing. I had to remake my installer USB because my first one got corrupted. crazybirdy
Try to setup to iMac17,1 or iMac18,1 with Clover Configurator. - IM171.88Z.0110.B00.1708080012: FirmwareFeaturesMask=0xff1fff3f | FirmwareFeatures=0xfc0fe136 - IM183.88Z.0151.B00.1708080034: FirmwareFeaturesMask=0xff1fff3f | FirmwareFeatures=0xfc0fe136 It is better to upload /private/var/log/install.log to see what's wrong? Mac_Daddy2012
I'll try and update here on my progress my second time through. I'm currently trying Maldon's Clover with smbios imac 18,3. Removed EMUVariableEFI and added Inject Intel. Same Error. @Munkoli can you upload your efi? We may be using different ones somehow. @CrazyBirdy I just saw your suggestion. Is the Install log on the installation usb or the target drive? If it's on the target drive like I think it is, how would you suggest getting the log off the target drive when my install on that machine is broken? crazybirdy
Target, or you can save it on the error screen top bar. Mac_Daddy2012
Ok, its getting late over here jn the states but I will give it one more go before bed. I know this system works on iMac18,3. this time around I removed NvidiaGraphicsFixup and changed CSRActiveConfig to 0x67 from 0x28. Now once I boot I lose my display after the verbose screen stops printing out. The system is powered on, but no display. Plugged my 1080ti back in and same error. Quoted are what seem to be the relevant lines to the install failure. I don't see the button to upload the entire log, probably because I'm so tired. If I find out how I can upload the whole log if needed. For now I'm off to bed, than you for your help guys! It means the world! Mac_Daddy2012
Well I just made a new installer on a USB 3 flash drive, and now I can't even boot to the installer. Keep hanging at "waiting for root device" and a circle with a line through it. Tried FIX USB, npcix3000, can't make it past this. Old EFIs that used to work can't even make it to the installer anymore.
