marvelloard
Hi, when Safari is open, there's a video playing (youtube) and I switch tabs often the audio would be interrupted for a short amount of time and there's also a short noticeable audio glitch. The duration of this varies a bit. It happens both with my SoundBlaster Play! 2 (USB) and my Audigy 2 ZS (kX), and I remember with older versions of macOS not having this kind of issue (currently running Sierra). Any ideas? My Hack runs quite stable now, but this is really annoying. Once switching tabs even the machine soft-locked... (glitches became increasingly long between tab switches until the final freeze)Also I removed the Audigy completely and it still happens with the USB card. Edit:It also happens when I sometimes open the finder first time while a video is playing, and during that glitch, the system is unresponsive for a split second (mouse cursor). I post this here because I think the audio is only a symptom, not the issue. It seems to happen when there's some multitasking going on, but it doesn't depend on load, because I can transcode a video in the background just fine. TrustAugustus
Can you try with a different OS to rule out a bad hardware issue? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/326569-minor-audio-problem/#findComment-2487511 Share on other sites
marvelloard
Yes in Windows it's fine. I actually found the solution by accident: Uninstalled the NVidia web driver and it was fine. Actually I replaced my 650 Ti by a RX 560 (Sapphire 4GB) and this Hackintosh works like a dream now. Besides its age and nowadays slow CPU Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/326569-minor-audio-problem/#findComment-2488327 Share on other sites
PPCnostalgic
I had same problem with my (very) old Edirol UA-5 by Roland USB 1 audio card. It's old but it still sounded great until Mavericks 10.9.5, but now with Sierra it doesn't work anymore (as you said before it glitches continuously). Roland USB old extension (there's no newer version then the one for Snow Leopard 10.6.8) seemed to be the culprit of this malfunction, so I trashed it and modified the Apple IOUSBFamili.kext and now after reboot the UA-5 USB Audio card is detected by the system and it shows up correctly both in system profiler and preferences, it's working fine. I'm still testing but since a couple of days and intensive use playing videos on youtube and playing guitar with Guitar Rig it seems stable. If you post your Soundblaster USB kext (or the driver.pkg) I'll try to modify the Apple IOUSBFamily kext to work with your USB card. marvelloard
Thank you, but switching the graphics card (!) solved the problem already. Edit: Just wanted to let you know that I double-checked the issue and indeed it was the graphics card.
