vladislav korotnev
Hello All, I'm looking for a laptop to buy for Hackintoshing, with a budget of $800. The primary use for it is Logic X, web surfing, Photoshop, sometimes occasional video editing. I have been looking through local catalogs to no avail, but most of the laptops out there carry AMD graphics nowadays which AFAIK don't work on OSX anymore? Maybe someone knows a good laptop under $800 that can run OSX and Logic well? Many thanks in advance! Allan
I recommend you take a look here: https://www.reddit.com/r/hackintosh/search?q=flair%3A"success%21"&sort=hot&restrict_sr=on&t=year In some cases the users put the total price of their hacks, and you can get a idea. vladislav korotnev
Found a Dell N5110 locally, seems to suit my needs just fine, up to 10.11 too with a beefy 1TB HDD and 256Go SSD, exactly $600. Thanks for your help 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/323877-a-good-hack-laptop-below-800/#findComment-2429472 Share on other sites
Allan
Hmmm, Intel HD 3000 it's not too good with macOS Sierra. Do a research about that. IMHO, I recommend you choose the Intel HD 4000 GPUs and up. 1 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/323877-a-good-hack-laptop-below-800/#findComment-2429630 Share on other sites
Somez
tluck has a pretty good guide on Lenovo T420 and also for T460 (HD 3000 and works well) for Sierra I highly recommend them, even though the T420 might be too old for you and the T460 might be too expensive. On another forum there is a very good guide for HP EliteBook 8470p (HD 4000) as well. My wife has that machine so I have experience with both and I can only recommend them. Just make sure you don't buy one with a Radeon or Nvidia discrete GPU. 2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/323877-a-good-hack-laptop-below-800/#findComment-2429640 Share on other sites
