eightballbill
I would like to know your thoughts about this idea. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/31625-hacked-software-update-utility-for-x86-machines/ Share on other sites
McSkywalker
Sure it would be good but we don't have much of a chance since it is not legal. Who would even get the risk to host it and get his server shut down? No need to mention the lawsuits, bla bla.. U.C.
Nice idea, but maybe a RSS feed with demonoid/tpb links will be better. Munky, I havent read your thread, so please forgive me if this was your idea too. A Nonny Moose
I'd rather see a software update engine that can resume a download. cyclonefr
With the new kernel thing, you could just rename mach_kernel to something else, and thus software update will never corrupt it so I guess C3PO is pretty pointless. Maybe for AppleSMBIOS.kext which could be replaced, but that's all. Anyway, you never know : maybe not all 10.4.9 files will work with .8 kernel (as with .4.8 files on 4.4 kernel...) munky
exactly - just because we have 10.4.8 almost entirely working, doesnt mean we have no need for c3po. leopard will be a whole new challenge - im only suggesting putting the infrastructure in place now. celebi23
Maybe set up a site with links to BT's & subscribe using RSS? Maybe some kind of program similar to Democracy Player? Something like that might be your best bet. Prasys
Hmm it will be a good project for end-users and developers. We could include drivers , users could grab it , install it and voila. Let me see if I can work on it , no promises..Just let me learn more about this kind of stuff Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/31625-hacked-software-update-utility-for-x86-machines/#findComment-243852 Share on other sites
Rammjet
The fun part is finding a place to host all of these files where Apple cannot shut down the host and sue the hoster. asap18
what you could do was use the app to download a torrent file, download the update and point the app to it.
