ekwipt Posted September 13, 2016 Share Posted September 13, 2016 So i am having some problems with my install Sierra PB7, I've managed to get the xcpm patches working (Credit © pikeralpha © okrasit) only by using fakeCPUID 0x040674, I've read a lot of people being able to get the patches working without having a fakeCPUID, so i'm at a bit of a loss here. I'm also not having to use the kexts:NullCPUPowerManagement.kextVoodooTSCSync.kextRunning the following patches in clover: xcpm_bootstrap Sierra © Pike R. The X86PlatformPlugin.kext will only load with the plugin-type property is set on the first logical CPU. This however is not enough to enable XCPM mode. No. You may still use AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext Even when X86PlatformShim.kext is loaded. 2.) The FrequencyVectors data in the plist is used to configure power management, and is not the same for all models/board-ids. Please use one that works for your setup. 3.) If sysctl -n machdep.xcpm.vectors_loaded_count returns 0 then the FrequencyVectors data is not being used. Backup the plist for your board-id and replace it with a different plist. 4.) If you use ssdtPRGen.sh to generate your ssdt_pr.aml then make sure to use the -turbo [top-turbo-frequency] argument for overclocked setups. 5.) Check for XCPM related errors at boot time. Like this: X86PlatformShim::start – Failed to send stepper. You got to fix errors or things may not work properly. I was pretty sure I patched the Frequency Vectors correctly using freqVectorsEdit.sh , but apparently not, i've tried manually copy the plist from different imacs to the macpro 6,1 manually and with the freqVectorsEdit.sh but to no avail. any help at this point would be GREATLY appreciated would someone be able to verify, make me a patch for 10.12 for the patch below, not sure if then i would be able t0 delete the FakeCPUID from clover then (cpuid_set_info (OS X 10.11.6) find 5D7F288D48BB83F902 replace 5D7F288D48B883F902 config.plist.zip ssdt.aml.zip Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

SammlerG Posted September 29, 2016 Share Posted September 29, 2016 We all people with Broadwell E/ or xeon EP Cpu have all the same AppleIntelCpu output if xcpm is loaded and registered, and this is a fact also in ElCpaitan or in Sierra Partial XCPM functionality Low steps are not presents in Cpu P States from 13 to 17/18 and this behaviour is also evident with IPG (Intel Power Graphics) So XCPM is under investigation and it is not fully working at this moment for unsupported CPU this is a known issue, (i think all x99 booted with clover??) won´t stay at min. multiplier when CPU is idle. Pike R. Alpha showed some pictures from Intel Power Gadget, running Broadwell-E. With this test system, X99 booted with Revoboot, the CPU seems to throttle correct. I have done a lot of tests, but there is no solution to solve this problem. CPU jumps from min. to max. in idle. And some interesting facts: you can boot with or without SSDT - i have always the same results. With patched and loaded Apple Intel CPU Powermanagement kext nothing changed. I think something is wrong with the correct detection/setup for X99 CPUs with clover oder the fakesmc. C-States and P-States are not correct in use. It changes every boot. When i enable EIST (msr 0x1A0 set to 850089), the performance is very bad. CPU don´t use the higher P-States and won´t stay at max. multi. But then, the lower P-States are used. Maybe… there is an error when xcpm/AICPM calculates and programs the msr/CPU frequencies. But the same happens when i disable xcpm and use nullCpuPm kext. The CPU is jumping from min. multiplier to max. multiplier in idle mode, permanent from min to max. r2tincan Posted February 12, 2017 Share Posted February 12, 2017 We all people with Broadwell E/ or xeon EP Cpu have all the same AppleIntelCpu output if xcpm is loaded and registered, and this is a fact also in ElCpaitan or in Sierra Partial XCPM functionality Low steps are not presents in Cpu P States from 13 to 17/18 and this behaviour is also evident with IPG (Intel Power Gadget) So XCPM is under investigation and it is not fully working at this moment for unsupported CPU @ekwipt with your cpu you can try to use fakecpuid that you are using or use 2,3,4 for last digit (one of those digits) But not xcpm difference at all in my case Is this still an issue with Haswell-E chips? I have Xeon E5-2630v3 and I'm having tons of problems getting XCPM to work.
