for the installation i'm using iPC 10.5.6 final.

 

right now i'm using your previous driver ALC260_egnm1969.10.5.6_Alpha4.pkg, the speaker icon show up in my top bar and run smoothly without error but there is no sound out from my internal laptop speaker. FYI, i'm using NEC Versa P8210.

 

maybe my specification hardware can clear you out to find out.

Sorry for late reply. Are you still interested getting your audio working? It will based on 10.5.6 AppleHDA.kext because I have not tried 10.5.7 yet. If you still interested, I need to know your OS X specification which are:-

1) leopard version (10.5.X?)

2) are you using Boot-132 method or not.

 

I also need your linux codec dump.

Hi everyone,

 

I have been looking around trying to get audio with OSX on my laptop.

 

I have an Aspire 1642WLMi with the dreaded ALC260 audio chip.

 

So far I have tried a codec dump I found online with Taruga's patcher and a few other kexts.

 

I have tried iDeneb 1.3 and 1.4 and even iAtkos v.5 but none seems to help with the audio issue.

 

It seems from this thread that you guys are getting somewhere (thanks to kizwan, egnm1969 and bobbygun).

 

I wonder if any of these solutions have been tried on the Aspire 164x series and if they work. If not, I volunteer to help out but I am a bit of a noob so you may have to explain things as you are talking to a lay person.

On my Sony vaio vgn fs i got the audio alc260 to work with kernel 9.4StageXNU and smbios-efi, will work with any alpha released by kizwan but for some reason i have sticked wih alpha5.

 

My install is IPC 10.5.6

 

If any vaio vgns fs owner is wondering.....yes you could have it full functional (apart from hotkeys)

 

I will edit a page on osX86 wiki thing as soon as i get some free time.

Hi kizwan, Can you help me with my ALC260? I've tried with AppleHDA Patcher and anything happens (I used my dump, maybe I didn't do well the proces ), last I tried with your Alpha4,5,6. 4 Detect an Audio Devide but System Frozens when I try to change Volume or do a Screenshoot of Device Panel. 5 & 6 do a Kernel Panic.

I believe the driver is not "compatible" with your current kernel. The error has been reported before & it solved by changing to other version of voodoo kernel (please refer to posts on the previous page). Can you try other kernel version?

I've tried 9.5.0 Voodoo (from here, Voodoo 9.5.0 Kernel Release 1.0 Package (Rev. A).

 

Alpha5 doesn't work. I get this KPanic.

 

 

It seems that I've a problem with some ¿driver/kext?, I have searched them and:

 

- AppleHDA

- Dspfunclib (not present)

- IOHDAFamily (not present)

- IOAudioFamily (present as IOAudioFamily.kext)

- OSvKernelDSPLib (present as OSvKernDSPLib.kext)

I'm running Ideneb 1.5 (10.5.7) + 9.4 StageXNU kernel.

PS: I had a "little" bug when I tried to mount DMG's Images. It was about Seatbelt.kext. I install 10.5.5 Sealtbelt's kext and now it works fine .

When I use 9.4.0 kernel on 10.5.7 I've a lot of errors with finder, safari, itunes, firefox, etc. They work but I've random crashes.

 

This happens because I use an old kernel with new system or because it's and old kernel (with more bugs than actual kernels)?

I use vanilla/original kernel. I don't know why it is not working with hack kernel. Why can't you use vanilla kernel? Have you try other kernel?

I've a laptop with Pentium M (Centrino). It's old and doesn't support SSE3 :/. I've tried with 9.7.0 Qooz (Works OK, but not with ALC260), 9.5.0 Voodoo (I don't have used it much, I don't remember that it fails but ALC260 doesn't work) and 9.4.0 StageXNU (It fails sometimes but ALC260 works).

Now I've see in code google that there are a Voodoo Alpha2 (9.7.0). I'll try it but i don't know if it'll wrok. 9.5 didn't work and I think that 9.7 qooz it's based on this voodoo A2 kernel.

Voodoo2_Alpha_3 (9.7.0) don't works with alc260_alpha5 kext , the systems takes frozen. For the moment the one that works for me its 9.4.0 StageNXU.

 

Some ideas to test?

Keep searching for other kernel. Try one by one. I'll let you know if I found anything else.

I'm using Fujitsu S6240 laptop with ALC260 audio. I use VoodooHDA.kext downloaded from the website and now have sound + microphone. I'm able to use iChat to chat with friends.

 

I use iDeneb 1.6 10.5.8 lite to install without any video kext. Then, when reboot, I insert iDeneb 1.4 to install GMA900 driver for video and then everything is ok.

edit. i get it now i use the values from the app and edit the nodes in the kext.
