Asus Z10PE-D8 WS • 2x XEON E5-2680 v3 • Clover • El Capitan • System lags / freezes :(

Hello..

finally I want to have OS X, but on a power machine. Therefore, I built a current dual XEON system.

Now my problem.. The system lags/freezes frequently, especially after starting/ending OS X or programs and using programs. Only the mouse works then. Therefore, it is impossible to use a program like Ableton Live or Bitwig Studio. OS X itself works almost smoothly.

The network (Intel I210) does not work yet. Audio too, which is not bad, because I have connected an audio interface.

Over the past weeks I tried extremely much, unfortunately without success. It would be great, if anybody can help me. Let me know what else I can try ..

Many Thanks! :)

Attached are a few files, such as the config.plist, an IORegistryExplorer v2.1 file, an OS X v10.11 Console log file and unpatched DSDT+SSDTs (generated with Clover)..

This is with all 24 cores/48 threads working? Did you need to use any other kexts than what you list? Perhaps a rollback of anything?

Have you tried to get native power management working? There are some guides on here like this: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/309717-haswell-e-5820k-5930k-installation-guide-with-full-speedstep-working/

Yes, all 24 cores / 48 threads are working. I´m using only the shown kexts, but the system works even without the VoodooTSCSync.kext. A rollback? Do you know, how to solve the problem?

Power management is working, I think, but don´t know, how to patch the DSDT and SSDT files..

Thank you for the tips..  :)

Wow, this is awesome that you got this to boot.  I can't get 10.11 to boot with even a single Xeon E5 V3.  Hang ups at PCI Configuration Begin.

But the system is laggy..  :wallbash:

Let me know your settings and maybe I can help you..

I've tried every combination of the following flags:

dart=0 -x -v nv_disable=1 PCIRoot=0 PCIRootUID=1 UseKernelCache=No npci=02000

For injected kexts, I'm just using FakeSMC

For installation I had to use nv_disable=1 and after installation nvda_drv=1. By the way, I always have to use npci=0x2000.

Compare your config.plist with mine..

Ah yes, I meant that I was using npci=0x2000.

I'll compare my config.plist!

You can't have power management working with NullCPUPowerManagement installed. You would need to follow the guide I linked.

Yep, with turbo that should be ~3700 for those CPUs.

I think so.. :)

I cannot start ssdtPRGen.sh, because network (2x Intel I210AT) is not working.. Do you have an idea to activate?

Ok.. Good luck!  :)

Alright, well, I tried with your exact config.plist settings and I'm still stuck at PCI Root Configuration Begin.

Back to 10.10.5  :(

Hmm...no I do not.

I210 is supported with vanilla (check the plugins for IONetworkingFamily.kext), perhaps you can add your deviceID in there and still get it to load. Or use Clover to patch a different line to your DeviceID. (probably better)

Otherwise add a PCI-e card for WiFi or Ethernet?

Hi analogo,

Was this a new build or an upgrade from Yosemite? I have been trying to install El Capitan on an Asrock X99E-itx/ac + Xeon E5-2620v3 with no success....

I haven't been able to get either the installer or the upgrader to boot.  I'm really curious as to what's going on with the E5 V3 Xeons... it seems like some have no issue at all and others fly right by the PCI Configuration Begin issue with no way to resolve.

Why are you using NullCPUPowerManagement.kext? When you use Clover it is not needed, you can set AsusAICPUPM to true, or maybe you don't have to do anything, on my Z170 Hero MSR is not locked so I did not have to do it.

EmuVariableUefi-64.efi - Are you sure you need this? Maybe nvram works fine for you and this file is not needed.
OsxLowMemFixDrv-64.efi - Do not use this together with AptioFix, use only Aptio.

Sorry for the delay, but today I installed clean 10.11.2 and tried many LAN settings in Clover and BIOS, but couldn´t solve it.. :( The LAN ports are correctly found, but OS X cannot connect..

Hi amjsez..

this was a complete new build and today another..

Why are you using NullCPUPowerManagement.kext? When you use Clover it is not needed, you can set AsusAICPUPM to true, or maybe you don't have to do anything, on my Z170 Hero MSR is not locked so I did not have to do it.

OsxLowMemFixDrv-64.efi - Do not use this together with AptioFix, use only Aptio.

The NullCPUManagemant.kext I´m not using anymore, also the two efi files..

Summary of today:

After installation (nv_disable=1) the system worked almost smoothly, but a little bit flickering. Then I installed the latest nvidia web drivers and all was the same! Extreme laggy and freezing, even with nv_disable=1..  :wallbash:

System information / PCI always shows:

There was an error while gathering PCI device information.

Perhaps tomorrow I have to make another clean install..?!

Thanks to all and good night.. ;)

Try to change pci slot of nvidia. Helped me with supermicro x9dai. Also, depends on webdriver iteration, sometimes i get lags with wd installed, sometimes with original drivers.

Thanks. :) I tried almost all PCIe slots, but still laggy.. The nvidia drivers only uses the OS X system driver, but without I couldn´t activate graphics accelaration..

Following two Console log files, which additionally are attached. Only opened and closed Ableton Live / Bitwig Studio.
