Clover with Mac skylake CPU support?

It seems today, Apple released new iMacs that are running on Skylake CPUs. It means the current 10.11 has CPU kext. Would this support included in Clover?

Thanks.

Faster and more powerful than ever, the new 27-inch iMac with Retina 5K display now comes with sixth-generation Intel Core processors and the latest AMD high-performance graphics that deliver up to 3.7 teraflops of compute power. The new 21.5-inch iMac with Retina 4K display features a fifth-generation Intel Core processor and enhanced Intel Iris Pro Graphics. Two Thunderbolt 2 ports now come standard on all iMacs and deliver up to 20Gbps data transfer speeds for external drives and high-performance peripherals. And three stream 802.11ac Wi-Fi allows iMac to support up to 1.3Gbps wireless networking.*

Clover has support for for Skylake CPUs, but no publicly available version of OS X has Skylake support yet. Probably will arrive in 10.11.1 final release, or any supplemental updates Apple releases for the new iMac.

new 21.5" iMac - 10.11.0 (Build 15A2301)

new 27" iMac - 10.11.0 (Build 15A4310)

does this mean 10.11.0 already has skylake support built in?

damn...we need to get this version...

I am in agreement - just finished building my Skylake future-hackintosh and have Windows on it right now... DSDT ready and waiting... tried already and Clover freezes before the Apple logo with "+++++++++++" error.

At the latest it will be the 10.11.1 update. There may be a fourth beta because they are adding in Microsoft Offices fixes to the update.

Downloading beta 4 right now 1.19GB maybe it works better with skylake

Would love to get my hands on it somehow! Is there a place that reposts them without developer login?

How would I go about adding this package to my installer USB so that the installer will actually boot?

There are a few different ways you would have to integrate the files, update the mpkg, then add references to some of the new files. OS X installers have two different stages in effect. The first is a install/diagnosis thin image that would need to be patched and modified, then you would have to replace and append the scripts with the new files. So its most likely you will have to wait till 10.11.1 is released before we get a good solid USB installer image. Until then if You have a real mac (or have a hack that boots into 10.11 fine) you can just install, patch, and configure there and move the drive to your Z170 device.

Facepalm, I have a macbook Air... although I can't really connect my SATA drive to it. I guess I could just image my existing drive?

Odd, I'm still getting "Still Waiting for Root Device" when trying to boot my USB key (containing an OS X 10.11.1 Dev installed via a real mac).

Andreszerocross reported this in the other thread, and attributed it to the lack of Z170 support, but that should be fixed in the latest build of 11.1, right...?

Would recommend not using a USB installer as it can complicate matters trying to install and load OS X on the same machine. Like cwestpha said it's much easier to just hook up the ssd to a real mac and install OS X that way.

I have an ASUS Z170-A with an Intel i7 6700.

I just did a clean 10.11 on my internal SSD install via my MBP. Then switched to beta catalog and updated to 10.11.1.

I put latest version of Clover, FakeSMC and nVidia web drivers.

Chose the latest Mac Pro for the SMBios selection.

Then I took the SSD back to my Skylake desktop - when I try to boot from the SSD on the internal SATA port I get garbled text with "Still waiting for Boot device" and a prohibited sign.

Also tried booting with "cpus=1" - same result.

Screens are attached.

Any ideas?

Things I haven't tried:
- All freaking SATA ports on the mobo. There's like 6 of them but the motherboard guide specifically states which one the boot drive should be plugged into.

- Injecting any kind of AHCI kexts - no idea what to try here - might screw up everything.

I think it has todo with the support of SATA in 170 MOBOs. Looks like 10.11.1 still lacks such support

As I said before, this is happening to me too. You aren't alone.

Isn't that weird though? What would it work in the Skylake iMac but not for us?

Thanks for the advice. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe because they attach the SSDs to the PCI-e slot? So no one at Apple bothered to implement the Z170 SATA controller? No idea.

It's probably something small and obvious.

I'm on the verge of just buying a cheap PCI-e SATA card and get it over with - but it's going to ruin all of my cable management  - so I'm tempted to just wait and see if anyone comes up with something.

Also remember the 10.11.1 beta is a beta. So everything may not have landed yet for Z170 support since I doubt Apple isn't going to do a proper update until 10.11.1 for Z170. If you remember back a few years there were builds of OS X that were segmented between the new and old platform for more than just a single .1 release after launch. Apple is extremely inconsistent about updates and their support for anything that's not critical to them (ie what they themselves utilize).

Also, remember there is a fusion drive build of both iMacs that use SATA.

Almost forgot to add:

There can also be platform triggers for support. So you may need to wait for Clove to catch up to Z170 OS X (that is it can fake the iMac17.1 complete with S/N, board ID, etc) or you will have to do it yourself. Plus the new USB system can always be fighting you. So many places hacks can now fail.

Now that 10.11.1 is out, has anyone had any more luck getting El Capitan to boot under Skylake? I try again myself, but there's just a limited amount of time that I can dedicate to these things. :/
