Hi,

I have a strange behavior. Sure somebody can help me???...

I have a hackintosh, working well since several month.

Configuration: Snow-Leopard OSX 10.6.8 / Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H (Rev. B3) F8 / i3-2105 sandybridge 3.09 GHz
/ sapphire-radeon-hd-5450-1go / 8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 XMS3 DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9

I added several hards disk to clone the hackintosh itself or some other mac.

However when I add another internal hard disk making backup with rsync scripts of another snow leopard mac, I cannot boot anymore. (the script is making a sort of Time Machine backup).

I am stuck after 'Load Operating System…' . Sometimes several "boot…" appears very quickly and disappears. Keyboard is not active. The hack is stuck and … me too.....

But if I disconnect back the hard drive, the hackintosh boot very nicely again.

I change Hard disks, making new 'clones' several times, same problem : no booting.

So I don't understand.

Here is my question :

What can prevent from booting my hackintosh when I add a hard disk with a 'clone' of a mac on it. ???

It looks like when the clones contains only ordinary files, it is OK, and that the problem arise when 'system' files are copied/cloned.

In other words what is changed on my 'good hack hard disk' which prevents booting when the 'new' hard disk is connected. What happens when the hack is started?

NB: Of course with 'F12' each time I am choosing the right hard disk with the hackintosh system which has been all the time working. I am not trying to start from the added hard disk, but from the same 'good hackintosh'.

Thanks a lot for your ideas of cause
Dominique

Sorry excuse me for my english.... Hope I am clear.

With out new drive, when it boot

Attach IOreg, what boot loader you use, try to get dawin dumper, post those item here.

sorry excuse me, the disk with which I boot is the disk2 with volume H44_251 (not disk0 )

First thanks a lot for this fast answer.

Already I discover darwindumper which looks interesting

I run darwindumper and got the following document : DarwinDumper_2.9.6_Chimera_1.5_X64_SL_dvmbp.zip

But I am stupid ... I don't see how to attach the total file (.zip) to my answer for you. How can I do it???

So I just copy the file :  Boot Loaders.txt below,

Hoping it will help

Thanks

Dominique

NB : the disk for boot is disk0

In drawin dupmer result, it carry in the folder, riigth click and compress it to file.zip and upload it.

Get ioreg also.

thanks

now for  Ioreg there si a problem : it is said : 'you are not permitted to upload this kind of file'

why?

Dominique

IOREG_Mac Pro_14111.ioreg.zip

Make it zip file

Here attached the ioreg file. OK thanks for pointing it should be zip.

Here some more information for you on the situation.

In the hackintosh there is a (internal ) disk called IMAC. This is a clone of a real mac. This clone is made with a script based on 'rsync' through ethernet. This clone is fine, bootable with an adapter SATA/USB on a real mac.

Now, inside the hackintosh, I am making a sort of Time Machine backup (rotating hourly/daily/weekly) of the disk IMAC on another internal hard disk which I call IMAC_TM. This is made with a 'rsync' script of the data files and of the system files (complete backup). At the beginning everything is a OK (backup hourly/daily...) . I can shutdown the hack and boot back from the same hard disk/volume : H44_251. After several days, then the problem arise , cannot boot anymore the hack (unless I disconnect this IMAC_TM disk). The script does not write anything on the system disk I use for booting (the H44_251 volume). But something is happening after several days (where and when and what and why?) which prevent the hack from booting. Same problem for months even with different model of hard disk....

Sorry for being so long, I am just trying to make the problem more precise.

So now you have IOREG and Darwin dump: please help: what is your idea for the cause?........ Thannnnnnks.

you want to go back to the site they help you install your hack and ask for help, We don't support the tool and installation there,

I give you little hint, rsync is not appropriate proper.

What is nice with you is that you answer very fast . Good. Thanks.

However I send you lot of data with Ioreg and Darwindumper, plus some other informations. Sorry to tell you but then I am very disappointed. Your answer is more than short : « you want to go back to the site they help you install your hack and ask for help, We don't support the tool and installation there, I give you little hint, rsync is not appropriate proper. »

What conclusion really did you draw from all my data ???

I don't need to install my hack . This hack is working OK since several months. The problem is only with this last Hard disk with some clone of IMAC , and only when it is connected. When disconnected, then booting is OK !!! So going to the site asking help for install is of … no help !. That is not the problem. The problem is with THAT disk.

Furthermore, what is this « little hint , rsync is not appropriate proper ». What do you mean ? What is no good in rsync ?

Dominique
