  1. Hi, I have a strange behavior. Sure somebody can help me???... I have a hackintosh, working well since several month. Configuration: Snow-Leopard OSX 10.6.8 / Gigabyte GA-H67MA-UD2H (Rev. B3) F8 / i3-2105 sandybridge 3.09 GHz / sapphire-radeon-hd-5450-1go / 8GB Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 XMS3 DDR3 1333 Mhz CL9 I added several hards disk to clone the hackintosh itself or some other mac. However when I add another internal hard disk making backup with rsync scripts of another snow leopard mac, I cannot boot anymore. (the script is making a sort of Time Machine backup). I am stuck after 'Load Operating System…' . Sometimes several "boot…" appears very quickly and disappears. Keyboard is not active. The hack is stuck and … me too..... But if I disconnect back the hard drive, the hackintosh boot very nicely again. I change Hard disks, making new 'clones' several times, same problem : no booting. So I don't understand. Here is my question : What can prevent from booting my hackintosh when I add a hard disk with a 'clone' of a mac on it. ??? It looks like when the clones contains only ordinary files, it is OK, and that the problem arise when 'system' files are copied/cloned. In other words what is changed on my 'good hack hard disk' which prevents booting when the 'new' hard disk is connected. What happens when the hack is started? NB: Of course with 'F12' each time I am choosing the right hard disk with the hackintosh system which has been all the time working. I am not trying to start from the added hard disk, but from the same 'good hackintosh'. Thanks a lot for your ideas of cause Dominique Sorry excuse me for my english.... Hope I am clear.
  2. Alright, I am gonna be as straight forward as possible. I have got 10.5.8 working perfectly on my 1525, and was looking to go Lion. I am gonna hop from 10.5.8 to 10.6 to 10.6.3 to 10.6.8 then finally to 10.7.X. I followed these guides http://antyalias.wordpress.com/2009/10/03/dell-1525-snow-leopard-10a432-10-6-retail-single-usb-method/ And http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.php/HCL_10.6.0/Portables#Inspiron_1525_2 I got everything done, no problem. I am using a 16 GB SD card and I am using a SD card reader (USB) to r/w to it (The card reader is not supported for me in 10.5.8), and right at step 1 for installation, I hit my problem. I can't boot from the external card reader. Then I tried to boot from the internal card reader, with no luck. Does anyone know what the issue could be? If so, how do I get it to boot? Also, I am all for going straight to (Mountain)Lion or Mavericks! Step-By-Step 1. Grabbed a copy of iPC 10.5.6, burned it to a DVD at 8x burning speeds 2. Booted into iPC on the Dell, installed 10.5.6 without any issues 3. Grabbed the 10.5.8 Software update, no issues there 4. Got a copy of the retail version of 10.6.0 and followed the above guides. I used MBR, ill go ahead and try GUID 5. Tried booting into the SD card reader from *all* the USB ports, I even tried using the onboard reader to no avail. 6. Messed around with the BIOS (Reset defaults, changed boot sequence), to no avail. 7. Tried re-doing EVERYTHING, with no success. I REALLY hope its a setting I can change, or something related, because my Dad won't let me use the USB Thumb drives he has, because he won't allow OSX on it due to the fact its technically illegal. I am using a IOGear GGFR209 with a Kingston 100X Class 10 16GB SD card. Guys, I really need help with this, I was looking to have at least Snow on the Dell before school on Monday. If there is anything I need to do, please respond!

  6. I'll just clarify that this section isn't for "omg how to get mountain lion / lion / snow leopard running on AMD". The section is named "AMD Development". This basicly means that this section is dedicated to developing, not asking help. I know I've done this even by myself, but now it's kinda out of control, everyone asking about installing ML on AMD etc. The 3 threads (SL / L /ML) should be dedicated to development of kernels and other related stuff and reports of the developments, not asking "how to get it running i get error". If you need help with AMD on SL for example, you should post on the installation help or if you followed a tutorial, ask the tutorial thread. However, I do not suggest asking with PM, because then other people can't get the same information as easily, and it's not funny to see inbox full every minute. Also, if you need help with the test kernels for SL / L / ML, you can post on this thread, I'm sure there are people ready to help you with your errors. Let's just keep the "development" threads clean of the "spam" / stupid questions (even if there isn't any). For real-time help, download an IRC client and join us: chat.osx86.hu #LegacyKernel And when you get your build running, please post here! Thanks!
  7. It's built and tested on my ML system... Source is included... This kext will work always on AMD... replacement for Dont steal Mac OS X.kext (move somewhere after install AppleDecrypt.kext) Enjoy Again thx to Sinetek for the decryption algo's Watch closely in the screen cap... (no Dont steal Mac OS X lol) I've made kexts for Lion and ML EDIT: ML version should work for Mavericks too... EDIT2: New version, Mavericks optimized. This one (under Release Mavericks) is code signed. (no more nag screen stating unknown kext etc...) EDIT3: New version, Yosemite optimized. This new version does not use OpenSSL anymore but instead loads up Apple's corecrypto.kext and uses that. I found the proper way to use Apple's corecrypto interface and it's much faster Also the code is built with Xcode 6.1 and fully optimized for running really fast. The Yosemite optimized version is in the V2 zip file and source, as usual, is included. It should be possible to recompile the kext on other systems as well because the corecrypto interface is still at 1.0, so no change. (Lion / 10.7 or better). EDIT4: Added github repo. https://github.com/andyvand/AppleDecrypt AppleDecrypt-Sinetek-AnV.zip AppleDecrypt-Sinetek-AnV-V2.zip
  8. Hi! As some of you may know, the AMD hackintosh scene isn't dead! Thanks to our genius developers (AnV, Sinetek, Nawcom, R:A:W:X86 and others... ), we now have ability to boot SL on AMD machine, WITH ARCH=x86_64! This involves some patching and tricks, and doesn't YET work on all AMD boxes. UPDATE: Sinetek just released a new kernel for Athlons and other Pre-Phenom CPUs! NOTE: After successful 64-bit boot (System Profiler -> Software -> 64-bit Kernel and Extensions: Yes), please post your processor in this topic. Confirmed processors: Phenom II x6 1090T Phenom II x4 965 Athlon II X4 645 Athlon II x4 640 Athlon II x3 435 Athlon X2 250 Athlon 64 x2 4000+ Requirements Working 10.6.8 installation, with either AnV or Nawcom legacy kernel Phenom II or maybe some other processor with L3 cache. Doesn't work with Athlons yet. Amd_insn_patcher to get patched dyld and other files. Backups, if you don't want to start everything from the start again. A little bit of brains, I think about 10 grams is enough. Installation Make sure you have backup of your HDD etc. I'm not responsible if you lose any of your data or if anything happens to your hard- / software. This may, or may not work. Don't do this if you have a working i386 -force64 system and you're happy with it. This kernel and other stuff is purely experimental, not stable release. Continue only if you have understood this. Let's start the process. Boot your hackintosh with AnV or Nawcom kernel, with arch=i386 and -force64! The patcher will screw your installation if you don't boot with -force64. Download the right kernel for your CPU, don't replace your existing kernel with it, just put it to the root of your HDD Patch your dyld and other stuff. Only works if you booted with -force64! Google more instructions for patching. This version of patcher works for me. Edit your boot.plist, change kernel to "sinetek" and arch=x86_64. No need for -force64 anymore. (or try with manual bootflags first) MAKE SURE ALL YOUR KEXTS ARE 64-BIT! This could work (not on Mac atm, can't test), x86_64 means 64-bit. Try to reboot. If it fails, reboot and type your bootflags in the Chameleon screen like: legacy_kernel arch=i386 -force64 Post problems / successes here and I'll try to help you. 9. Hi, I am testing SL on my NB (HP 6510b) and I am using Virtualbox running on Ubuntu Host. Everything worked but after I run the update, I cannot boot any more and I get a windows that says to contact someone with a screenshot. I will upload the image, if anybody has any clue, I will appreciate the help. Thank you, Antonio Just buy a mac!
  10. Wifi on SL 10.6.7

Recently I installed Snowleopard 10.6.7 on my AMD hackintosh. After all was said and done. I finally got to log in. The only probelm is. Most of the programs don't open which I think might be due to my CPU being 64-bit and that I can't get wifi. The main reason for not being able to get wifi is to my understanding drivers. I have a linksys compat-g wireless adapter WUSB54GC adapter. And I did some searching and I found some drivers from a website but the links were dead. I also tried on a belkin adapter and that didn't work either. Do any of you have a driver for the Linksys adapter? Thanks much appreciated
  11. Help please

I installed retail SL 10.6.0 on my Asus 1015 pe (Intel Atom N450, gma3150) on a hard disk partioned in 3; HFS, FAT32, FAT32 using GUID using Nawcom boot cd. Upgraded to 10.6.7 and using netbookmaker fixed the resolution by faking gma950. Everything was fine till I decided to install Ubuntu on the first FAT32 partition. I did "sudo fdisk -e /dev/disk0" and then p, f 3, w, y, exit. After that it won't boot on restart but boots fine with Nawcom. Installed Ubuntu on the other partition and used gptsync and made sure that grub was installed to the same partition(sda3). I still can't boot from the hard drive. Reran netbook installer (just checked install chameleon). No luck booting. Everything works on OSX and Ubuntu when booted from Nawcom but I have lost the correct resolution (back to 800x600) and no gma 950. Would be grateful for any suggestions to regain chameleon booting.
  12. 6510b Snow Leopard

I have tried about 15 times to install SL 10.6.x on my 6510b using ###### + ###### and this are my findings... (BTW my DVD stop working after the 7 time, not sure if it is a Motherboard or DVD unit issue) First, WHY when I put the SL disc and go thru the setup process, everything works OK? the keyboard, mouse pad, the screen size and resolution, usb ports, etc... Once I run the ###### (either with ###### or DSDT option), the screen size is not right, mouse pad does not work, keyboard does not work.... Up to know this his what I was able to do: FYI I basically follow this instructions: ###### Installed SL Downloaded and run Mac OS X 10.6.8 Combo Update DO NOT REBOOT leave the window open Run the ######, it actually crashed and close the Combo window too so I had to run it again And finally I used the DSDT from this link (http://www.insanelym...howtopic=186496) but FOR ME, the other packeges in this last link did not work, that is why I had to reinstall several times... Keyboard does not work, Mouse pad does not work but bluetooth does, so I am using a external mouse and the virtual keyboard and NETWORK does not work but I was able to get a KEXT for the network card (attached to the post). For now, this is going to be my iTunes server so I do not care if the keyboard works or not. I hope this helps for anybody that has a 6510b.
  13. ***Use EXTREME CAUTION when using either my Mountain Lion (10.8.x) or Lion (10.7.x) org.chameleon.Boot.plist without checking it first. It is setup to use kernel/boot caches which was disabled by default from Lion onward and will cause BOOT FAILURE if your E/E kexts aren't moved into S/L/E before the mkext rebuild. If your install isn't setup to use kernel/boot caches or you have no intention of using them, simply remove these lines from the plist and you'll be fine. The drawback from not using the caches is that your booting time will take longer: <key>UseKernelCache</key> <string>Yes</string> You've been warned.*** By using the advise or files from this thread, you assume full responsibility for your actions and their results. I cannot be held responsible for any potential damage to your system or loss of data. Just sayin' ;-p The issues with this system using either Mountain Lion (10.8.x), Lion (10.7.x), or Snow Leopard (10.6.x) have been resolved with the help from people in this thread and through many, many hours/days of trial and error on my part. To anyone with this system setup, I have provided zip archive(s) with all the files that I have either previously used or currently use on my Mac partition(s). They have been tested working on either 10.8-10.8.2, 10.7.3-4 or 10.6.8 and are all ready to use, just unzip them, apply them where they should be, repair permissions and rebuild mkext as needed and reboot. The only issue I that couldn't be fixed is the random restart BIOS hang where the Dell splash boot-up screen will "hang" or "freeze" once the loading bar reaches full. CTRL+ALT_DEL doesn't fix this, the only way to resolve it is to press the power button to shut the tower off and then on again. This only seems to happen when rebooting from a Mac install. I can confirm that the BIOS hang doesn't happen after a reboot from a Tiger install. I might look further into this later. Lastly, My system is running BIOS rev A05 during all tests. So I can't confirm the dsdt provided working on anything but that BIOS rev. It may also not function properly if used on a different size chassis of the 760, such as the full size model or ultra slim form factor model. Thanks for everyone's help! Download the zip archive(s) here: Full (contains everything for all OSs) = Opti760_3Kitties.zip Mountain Lion (10.8-10.8.2) = Opti760-MountainLion.zip Lion (10.7.3-4) = Opti760-Lion.zip Snow Leopard (10.6.8) = Opti760-SnowLeopard.zip Last updated: 11/26/12 ORIGINAL POST: Soooooo basically, I suck at this. I'm horribly unconfident in every aspect of DSDT creation/modification. I'm ashamed to admit but in all the years i've been tweaking and playing around with OSX86 I have NEVER been able to really figure out how to deal with using/editing DSDT files. My experience lies only with "dirty" hacks, through modification of current system files, or adding in new ones. I have looked up and tried out more tuts than I care to count, each had their own specific way of going about it and NONE of them were very helpful. They all seemed to only cater to one specific motherboard type while leaving everyone else with a different board in the complete dark. Being lost to begin with, the last thing I planned to do was make guesses and risk completely f***ing up my hardware in the process. So yeah, I need help. I would probably benefit most from learning from the work of others on MY own DSDT, not someone else's. So, I will provide two one DSDT file below, extracted from my system, completely unaltered. dsdt-Optiplex760-Untouched.zip The second will be one that I tried to edit (and probably failed miserably), this should be used as examination from someone more skilled at DSDT patching to assess if I did it right or was completely wrong about it. I only want a few patches applied because most everything on my system is working great! At least, according to my testing anyway. I was planning on applying the following patches but need help: -RTC reset fix for CMOS. -GeForce device/NVCAP injection (see below for code, originally referenced here) -SpeedStep enabling (never attempted, I think it might be dangerous) -Audio fix for ADI 198x (if exists, although i'm content with using current VoodooHDA solution) -Sleep/Hibernate fix (should one exist, this one is VERY low priority) -Network/Ethernet fix (also low priority, i'm currently using AppleIntelE1000e as a fix) EVGA GeForce 6200 512MB PCI NVCAP: 0400000000000300040000000000000700000000 **This code was extracted using Everest Win7x64, then using NVCAP Maker v1.4. That's really it. Most everything else important seems to function as expected. If someone with long time experience in creating/editting DSDT files reads this, I hope you'll considering helping me. I'm eager to learn this but not so eager to destroy hardware through constant trial & error, which is all I have going for me right now. So if anyone can and is willing to help, please try and do so. I will really appreciate it! If more info is needed i'll do my best to get it to you ASAP. Thanks for the read. UPDATE: So, I decided to try to test out my edited DSDT linked above to see if it made any difference. Low and behold it appears I actually might have fixed a couple things. After testing it out and rebooting the first thing i noticed was that my RTC fix worked! My BIOS no longer resets after a reboot! I previously needed ElliottForceLegacyRTC to fix that. Then, I tried out my tiny graphic fix (to try to make sure my PCI was correctly read as 0. That seems to have worked too. Before the edits, I needed to use NVEnabler to get my 6200 to give me the black screen before the login screen, now it does it by simply adding the GraphicsEnabler flag. Lastly, I did a rough fix to my PIC & TMR and planned to edit my HPET which never was done because I didn't know what I was doing and didn't wanna risk frying my CPU. Still, I edited both PIC & TMR and tried to see if I could get my system booted without the need for the NullCPUPowerManagement kext and it actually worked too! Although, to be fair, I am pretty sure I didn't need to edit anything to get my CPU to work without NullCPUPM before. I just had it in my E/E folder to be safe. Either way, i'm completely baffled by the fact that my half-assed attempt at a DSDT edit ended in slight success, especially since it gave me a s***-ton of errors while building. I still have a few fixes I REALLY need help with though. I don't have an audio fix, a sleep fix, a speedstep fix, an ethernet fix, or a GeForce injection. So please, if anyone has anything that might be able to help me, i'm all ears! UPDATE#2: Tried adding in the Nvidia NVCAP injection linked above without success. Back to square one since QE/CI + Full resolution is STILL the only important thing missing from my system. I also keep getting a crapload of errors while rebuilding my DSDT for testing, which I can only imagine might lead to unforeseen problems later on potentially. UPDATE#3: Installed SnowLeo on a USB HDD to test with to see if the 6200 would even work on that. Long story short, no it doesn't. That means I would have to go back as far as Leo just to get this stupid card to have full QE/CI. So I decided an upgrade was in order, after much discussion with Gringo, another forum member who was very helpful in the decision process, I have purchased a 9500 GT that should arrive within a few days. Hopefully my luck with QE/CI will change once I give the new card a try. Nothing could be worse than the slow ass, outdated, PCI-based 6200 I have been testing with. Will keep the thread posted on progress.
